Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F150 we'll be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Rhino Rack Roof Rack System. This is going to consist of the Rhino Rack Vortex Arrow Crossbars, part number RRVA150B-2, the Rhino Rack 2500 Series Legs, part number RRRLKVA, and the Fit Kit for our F150, part number DK427. Now, keep in mind that our crossbars are also available in silver with part number RRVA150S-2The Rhino Rack Roof Rack System gives us an opportunity to carry more gear inside our truck bed as well as on our roof, whether those are bike racks, ski and snowboard carriers, or kayak carriers. The aerodynamic shape of our crossbars is going to help to reduce wind noise and drag. On our crossbar end cap you'll see we have this plastic lock core here. This does lock, but you can replace those with metal lock cores, which will add more safety and security.
We'll remove that, and you'll see our weather strip here on the inside. This can be removed and cut down, and replaced with channel mounted accessories. The leg kit of our roof rack system comes with a metal lock core, which is going to help prevent theft and tampering of your roof rack system altogether. Our Rhino Rack Fit Kit is going to be custom cut and made for our vehicle to give us a nice, secure fit. Any portion that touches our vehicle is going to have a rubber coating to prevent any scratches or abrasions. The Rhino Rack Roof Rack System has a 165 pound weight capacity, though you do want to double check your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure your roof can withstand that much weight.
It's also going to come with a limited lifetime warranty, and be easy to install. We'll show you how to do that now.Everything that you see on our table is what we will need to install our roof rack system. We already have our front bar and half of our back bar installed, but we'll show you how to do the other half. We're going to provide our own flat tape measure, but everything else will be included. We've got our crossbar here, the end cap for our crossbar with the included key.
We'll have our leg kit with the included key to lock down our end caps. We've got each piece of our fit kit; the pad, and the clamp, and then our included tool to tighten everything down. We're going to start by removing our bolt here on our leg. Take our clamp, we're going to replace it over the top, and we'll tighten down our bolt to hold our clamp into place. We want to tighten this down just enough so that it holds our clamp. We don't want it too tight, because that can mess up putting it onto our roof.
With that tightened down, we can remove the bottom piece. We'll take the rubber pad here on the bottom, and we're just going to squeeze that together. Once that's all together, we can place it back onto our leg. With our leg kit assembled, we'll place this onto our crossbar. Now we'll measure out our placement for our leg kit. It's going to be about 16.6 centimeters. That measurement will be in your instructions, and we're just going to take our included tool and tighten down our bolt here. That's going to hold our leg kit in place. To finish off the assembly, we'll place on our end cap and lock them into place. Now we're ready to open up our vehicle doors and load up our crossbar. We'll gently place it on the roof of our vehicle. We want to make sure that the hook goes around our door. Now we can measure from the inside doorjam to the middle of our clamp. That's going to be 52 centimeters. This will give us our placement for our crossbar. We'll do the same thing to the other side. Now we'll tighten down our bolt here using our included tool. We want start so that it sits just up against our door frame. We'll do the same thing to the other side. Now, we want to tighten our bolt down until the skinner portion of our torque tool is completely straight, just like you see there. We'll finish off by placing on our end cap for our foot pack. Now that we have our roof rack system completely tightened down, we're ready to load up our accessories and hit the road. That's going to be our completed look at the Rhino Rack Roof Rack System on our 2018 Ford F150.

This custom fit kit lets you mount 4 Rhino-Rack 2500 legs to your vehicle with a naked roof. Clamps mount to legs with bolts. Includes 4 clamps and 4 pads.I've had Thule & Yakima products over the years, with no issues. But I'm really glad I ordered this set-up for my 2021 F-150. I think you get just as good of a product from Rhino, maybe even better, for a slightly lower price. Everything feels sturdy and well made (with the possible exception of the locking covers, which feel a bit flimsy). I really like this set-up, and the precise measurements and guides made for a perfect snug fit. The rubber strip running on the upper long edge of the bars feels like it will definately help keep accessories from sliding out of place.
Great product, very well built, heavy duty. the assembly and settings instructions are easy to follow and when I placed it on the roof of my 2015 f150 super cab, it fit perfectly with no further adjustments necessary. I am very impressed with this Rhino Rack and feel it will probably outlast me and be handed down through many generations. Also purchasing from etrailer was an awesome experience, fast free shipping. easy website to navigate.
I just finished the install of the Rhino Rack 2500 with the Vortex Bars. It looks fantastic on my 2020 Silverado. It's solid and very well built. I'm a surfcaster on Long Island and I use 1 piece fishing rods up to 11ft long so the easiest and best way to transport them is on top of my vehicle. I selected this rack because it's aerodynamic and with the accessory channel I was able to easily attach them by sliding a 1inch stainless bolt and stainless washer in the channel. This hides the attachment and makes it impossible to remove unless you have the keys to access my rod rack which has a padlock.
Everything arrived amazingly fast and install was a breeze. Super happy with the finished product and will definitely be shopping at etrailer in the future!
Fits 2017+ Super Duty!
I had the vortex 2500 on my previous truck which I removed when I traded it in for the 2017 super duty. I knew all I needed was the foot kit to make the switch over to the new truck. But, for some reason Rhino rack didn’t have a kit for the new body super duty. They did however have kits for the 2015+ F150 which I knew would work because they share the same cab. My hunch was correct and the foot kit worked great.
The measurement for the spacing between the feet were a little off. The F150 calls for 169mm and 166mm between feet (front bar/rear bar). I found that to be a bit too narrow. I added about 5mm on each and it fit perfectly.
Very happy with my purchase! The roof rack fits my 2022 F150 great and seems to be a high quality product.
After the entire kayak rack I bought was assembled, these 2 pieces fit with the others perfectly! They are also sturdy and well constructed. Everything fit on my truck.
The rhino rack assembled easily, fit the channels in my roof perfectly and looks great! 5 stars for on time delivery, good packaging, super easy ordering also. Very happy customer!
Excellent fit for my truck.Absolutely necessary to carry my surf rods on the top of my truck. Highly recommend this product if you don’t want your paint scratched. Thank you Paul B at etrailer for your dedication to customer service support. I’ll be back. I wish I had some photos.
Haven’t received yet
eTrailer is "on it" -- from online order to doorstep 3 days -- order status update, great -- product arrive via UPS, IMO the only professional shipping service -- installation video along with product manual very helpful -- suggest reading the book first and then watching the movie -- installation took about 1 hour -- now I have to remember the roof racks are on the truck and watch the overhead door clearance, 'coz they ain't coming off --
Bought the 2500 Vortex kit for my 2015 F150. Very well made kit. Installation was a breeze. Just follow the directions and you can not mess it up.
I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant to go with a rack brand I never heard of as opposed to the “Y” or “T” brand. Those concerns soon disappeared as I assembled and mounted the Rhino Roof Rack onto my 2020 GMC 1500 Denali.
As an engineer, I appreciate engineering attention to details:
- the fit to my vehicle was accurate to +/- 1mm
- the hold done bolts are theft deterrent
- the mounting towers include locks
- placement of the mounting towers is mistake proof with integrated measuring system
- all of the surfaces that may whistle in the wind are closed
- the end caps are held in place with a unique latching mechanism
- even stickers are provided to allow you to remove and replace the racks without error
Rhino Rack ... your engineers and product execution team are #1 in the business!!!
I ordered them when nobody else had them in stock and Carol at eTrailer made sure they showed up in time for a cross country move that would not have happened without the rack. Much appreciated as usual. The rack is every bit as good as their more name brand competitors, very glad I found these.
E trailer is awesome
Roof rack is great once installed
The racks look great and are solidly anchored.
I have yet to use them under load but I am pleased with the final product so far.
My only complaint was that the assembly process is difficult to understand unless you Google the help videos. The assembly process is confusing and tedious until you gain an understanding of the overall setup.
Noisy, but secure. Noisy enough that I don’t like it on my truck. Wish I had gone with a different product.
The parts arrived with no package damage and all the parts were there.
Went together well. Written instructions we’re a bit confusing. The videos we’re a big help. Parts fit was excellent and well built. Getting a kayak needed a way to transport it without interfering with my camper.
The Rhino racks are excellent. They are easy to put on and take off. They are quite without the need for a fairing. My kayak racks clamp down tight. Much better than the round racks.
Great products, I combined few different brands of products and I was able to get what I had in mind, no problems after a year, I will definitely buy from etrailer again.
It fit perfectly
This rack worked out great... I installed in on a 2017 Ford F-150. We drove 6 hrs through wind and rain with a SUP and Tandem Kayak on top. It really took a beating in a storm the whole way. One bracket was a little loose and shifted because of the wind on the Kayak, but it held together. Super happy with Rhino rack!
Beautiful rack complicated instructions.
