This platform's large, flat surface lets you carry more gear than a typical roof rack, freeing up space inside your vehicle. The Pioneer uses integrated channels in the planks and side rails to accommodate a wide variety of Rhino-Rack accessories, including rail systems, awnings, light brackets, and more. The platform mounts directly to your crossbars.

Whether you are overlanding, camping, or tailgating, the Pioneer platform's ample surface space lets you carry a large amount of cargo and gear. This helps free up space inside of your vehicle so you and your passengers can travel comfortably. The integrated channels located in the planks and side rails let you install channel-mount accessories, like an awning or kayak carrier, similar to a traditional roof rack. But, there are also several accessories that install exclusively to the Pioneer platform, such as the aluminum folding ladder and gas can holders. And because of the platform's design you can utilize many of these accessories at the same time.

Strong, Durable Construction
Strong, yet lightweight, the platform's frame is constructed of aluminum and includes reinforced nylon connectors. Since these materials are powder coated and non-corrosive, the platform won't rust or fade when exposed to the weather. Rhino-Rack has rigorously tested the Pioneer in the harsh Australian outback, ensuring it's built to withstand anything your adventures throw at it.
Universal Fit on Most Crossbars
This Pioneer platform rack fits most crossbars and includes all the parts necessary to install it. However, it is not compatible with Rhino Rack Heavy Duty crossbars. The platform comes unassembled, so you will have to put it together before proceeding to the installation. After this is complete, simply use the clamps to connect the bars on the bottom of the platform and crossbars together. Alternatively, you can bolt the platform to the integrated channels on the crossbars using the upper clamp and included hardware.

Works great with my 2023 Toyota Sequoia and no wind noise . This was a better option then the oem trd roof rack.

Assembly was fairly easy and overall seems like a good product. I did have a couple of screws (2 of the Alloy Locking Tabs did not have the M6x20mm Security Head Screw (black) or associated washers) missing from the package but was still able to use as is. Hopefully I can have the screws and washers mailed to me.
Well I must say I am impressed--with the Rhino Rack and etrailer! This big ole Pioneer platform package arrived really quickly and was in perfect shape in and out--none of this already opened noise you hear about from sketchy vendors. The platform quality is also really good; I didn't expect it to be so good. I also really like how low it sits; they were obviously designing this to fit the Outback just right. I am a happy camper! Thanks etrailer for making this process worry/pain-free.
Love it. Butttttt i had 2 screw holes that wouldn't take a bolt... tried multiple bolts in the holes threads wouldnt take. I jimmy rigged it with some self tapers beside the hole.
I really do like it minus the default threads...
Fantastic experience! I spent weeks researching rack options for my GX460. At the end of my rope with literally NO good options, the good folks at etrailer talked me thru some great ideas and I went with the RhinoRack Universal Platform, attached to Yakima RailGrab Towers. This fits my 2024 Toyota Sienna that came with the factory roof rack + Cross bars. The material of construction look and feel high quality. The assembly took quite a bit of time because the bolts and nuts were labeled to match the instruction. The instruction could use a little update.
This platform is awesome! Very sturdy and well made, and I love that the Rhino Rack branding is a metal plate. Not a sticker. Very easy to put together and put up on the roof rack! Very happy customer!
Fairly simple installation. Well-made. I have a 2018 Toyota Rav 4, so I was looking for something that was strong but lightweight.
Rack was simple the put together and fulfills my needs, however, the instructions could have been more detailed with better pictures.
Excellent product, feels solid and sturdy. Installed on top of Yakima Core bars on a Snugtop camper shell. Plan to use it to store things when I need to sleep in the shell and carry lighter things during travel. Even better customer service. I took my time putting the item together, which was missing some hardware; was super easy to just reply to e-mails sent by etrailer staff and got it resolved to satisfaction without any difficulties. I ordered the Rhino-Rack Universal Pioneer Platform Rack for my Toyota 4runner 2020. This platform fits my 4runner and this size 58"x 47" leaves space above the moon-roof so I can still enjoy the outside view while driving. Moving forward, I will order some accessories for the platform as I have more experience with that.
Rhino-rack pioneer platform was easy to assemble (except I was missing few screws). It is sleek looking rack, bolted right to Rhino-rack Vortex crossbars mounted on my 2019 Ram Rebel
Solid dependable product and thrilled with purchase from a Rhino Rack. Fantastic customer service from etrailer. Product arrived but was missing several components. Emailed William and he was all over it, sent me several emails and walked me through whole return and reorder process. New package arrived a few days later and all is good. Too bad all
The Rhino Rack is a great durable product. I have used it with and without the additional railing and have placed numerous items on it, such as ladders, plywood and the Rhino Bag and never been disappointed. A great buy!
This platform worked out great on my Audi Q7. I went from texas to NJ to Washington, so it made the rounds fully loaded without issue. Getting the rail that goes half the platform made securing things very easy. I liked this rack more than the basket style for sure. Great product and sturdy!
