The low-profile, aerodynamic Rhino-Rack ROC25 roof rack lets you carry gear and accessories on your vehicle's roof quietly and with little wind drag. It's designed for installation on a naked roof (a roof without factory raised side rails, flush rails, fixed mounting points, tracks, or rain gutters). The rack's Vortex Aero crossbar has built-in rubber strips that disrupt airflow for a quiet ride, and the bar is constructed of aluminum so it won't rust. This bar blends seamlessly with the support legs to provide a from-the-factory look, and it is custom cut to your specific vehicle so it requires no adjustment during installation. The legs also include built-in locks that protect your gear and the rack from theft.

Aerodynamic Design

The rubberized Vortex strips in the top channel of the crossbar disrupt airflow with evenly spaced, wave-shaped grooves. This carefully controlled turbulence minimizes wind noise and whistling, so you won't need to add a fairing to your roof rack. And the slim, elliptical Vortex Aero crossbar cuts through the air with minimal drag - even at highway speeds.

The ROC25 roof rack has a flush-mount design so the crossbar terminates at the legs with no overhang. This provides the rack with a seamless, from-the-factory look, and it also helps to improve aerodynamics by reducing drag and wind noise.

Strong, Durable Construction

Rhino-Rack Vortex H-shaped extrusion

The Vortex Aero crossbar is made of structural-grade anodized aluminum with an H-shaped internal extrusion. This extrusion strengthens the bar without adding a significant amount of weight. And the aluminum bar won't rust so you can leave it on your roof year-round.

The rack's durable, glass-reinforced nylon legs are designed to stand up to cargo loads and weather extremes. They're also UV treated to withstand long-term exposure to sunlight.

Custom Fit for Easy Installation

The roof rack arrives at your doorstep almost completely assembled. The crossbar is already mounted into the nylon legs. And the bar is pre-cut to match the width of your vehicle's roof, so you won't need to waste any time centering it. The few remaining assembly steps are straightforward and require only the vehicle-specific fit kit.

The vehicle-specific fit kit includes pads and clamps specifically designed to fit the contours of your roof. To install, simply attach the pivoting plates and rubberized pads to the bottom of each leg. Then secure the legs to your vehicle with the metal clamps. Decals inside the legs and a diagram in the instructions help you to orient the crossbar on your roof.

Once the crossbar is properly positioned, use the included Allen key to tighten it in place. The Allen key is designed to serve as a simple torque wrench. The curve in the blue plastic handle straightens when you've applied enough torque to each bolt.

Channel-Mounted and Clamp-On Accessories

The crossbar has a built-in C-channel so you can carry channel-mounted accessories such as bike racks, watersport carriers, and ski racks. The Vortex strips in the top channel come in 3 pieces, so they're easier to adjust than a single long, continuous strip. You can remove, trim, and re-insert the Vortex strips around the mounting hardware of your accessories to keep the crossbar channel capped and quiet. Replacement strips (sold separately) are also available if you remove your accessories or switch to clamp-on accessories.

You can also attach most clamp-on accessories to the bar, and the Vortex strips provide a shock-absorbing, no-slip cushion for any accessories that rest on it.

Built-In Security

Locking covers on each support leg let you secure accessories mounted in the crossbar top channel. These sturdy nylon covers give the rack a finished look and also help secure the rack to your roof. The cover locks are keyed alike, so a single key opens all locks.

Video Transcript for Rhino-Rack ROC25 Roof Rack Installation - 2014 Honda CR-V

Hi everybody, Adam here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack system, for your naked roof, on your 2014 Honda CRV. If you're looking for a fairly cost-effective roof rack, that has all the features that I really look for, in a roof rack system, I definitely think that the Vortex Aero Rhino-Rack Roof Rack system, is gonna be good for you. We're going to be able to put about 165 pounds worth of stuff on top, we have T-Tracks, it's made of aluminum, it's not gonna rust away, and it's just gonna allow your CRV, and the people you're driving around, to do more. Some things that you don't see with some roof racks is locks, these come with it. Even some of the higher end racks, you really have to purchase the lock separately, which is kind of silly in my opinion, but this one comes all with it, you don't have to buy anything separate.

I just don't like the idea of buying a premium roof rack and then having to buy more stuff for it. This one doesn't break the bank and it gets the job done. And we don't have to worry about anything scratching, we have some rubber pads on the bottom of our little feet here, but then also on the clamps, that clamp into our little door jambs, that is gonna be coated as well, so you don't have to worry about this thing scratching up your vehicle. It does have a pretty sleek design, so we don't have any overhang right here. So this is good if you're really just needing some bar space, but you really don't want a bulky roof rack sticking out past the foot.

I really like that, especially if you're looking for something that's going to look a little bit more OEM and low profile. From the top of our roof in the center, to the bottom of our bar, we're gonna have a little less than an inch and a half of space, and then going all the way up, it's only going to add about, two and three quarters of an inch, to the top of your roof in the middle. So if you do have a sunroof or something like that, I think we're gonna be able to clear, and then most of it's gonna be back here, so I think it'd be fine there. Hopefully that kind of gives you an idea of what you're really gonna get, when you go with the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack system but, if you want to see how it installs, if you stick around, we're gonna show ya. First thing we want to do is familiarize ourself with the hardware.

We're gonna have our foot kit here, and we will get keys with the kit, so what you want to do, is just take this cap off, just like that, and then we can go ahead and take this, and insert it in. You know if you're putting it in right, you'll see a little hole here, it's gonna line up with the hole on the foot, and work it in like that. We're gonna have a screw, it's gonna go right there to secure it down, and then you can take a Phillips screwdriver and screw that all the way down. And we'll do that same exact thing on the other side. Now's a good time to put in our weatherstrip.

I've found it easiest to start on one side, make it to where it's flush right up against the edge of the bar, get that one channel fitted in on one side, and then kinda fold it in, kinda like that, you hear it kinda of snap in there. That's the easiest way I've found it to be, and you just kinda have to mess with it a little bit. We can take our excess, once everything's in, and trim it up. You can just use a little bit of scissors right here, to make a clean flush cut, and then put the rest in there. Now what we want to do, is we can take our little plastic foot, and notice the arrow, so what this is gonna do, they're going to be pointing towards each other whenever they're installed, so gonna be facing towards the inside of the bar, and then all we need to do, is take this, put it right on top like that, turn over, you can kind of start to push it into place, like that, and then with the arrow facing in, just go right here, and snap it into place. We're gonna do that same exact thing on both sides, and while we're here, you might as well remove this, because we will need that to be removed, to install the next bracket. Now you want to grab the 145. So this is going to be the front bar, so grab those, make sure they match, and what we're going to do, is take that bolt we just took out, it goes through that, and we're going to have to kind of hold this with our finger on the back end, so it doesn't pivot, and get that threaded in. We don't have to thread it all the way down, but just get it started, so it'll just sit there and hang for now. And we're going to use another 145 bracket, on the other side. Now we can go ahead and put it up on our roof. Just go on one side, make sure it grabs, then we can go on this side, and kind of get it into place, figure out exactly where we want it. In your instructions there's going to be measurements, and what we're gonna do, is from the middle of the bar, so right down this line here, to the door jamb right around here, you've got to match that up to the measurement in the instructions, so we just need to shift a little bit, and once we get that measurement, make sure it is the same on both sides, and then we can proceed. So now with the tool included with the kit, we can go ahead and start to tighten this down, I always like to hold the bracket in place while I'm doing this, just to make sure it seats there well. And I'm not gonna fully tighten this one, I'm just gonna get it nice and snug, to where there's no movement or anything, and then I'm going to do the same to the thing on the other side, and then come back and torque it down to specs. So the neat thing about the tool is, this little section here, once it starts to straighten out, that is going to be when it is torqued down to specs, so that's really cool. So just go like this, and as we tighten this down, we've still got a little bit of a bend, but now, right around there it's pretty much straight, and that feels plenty tight, so we are good to go. Now with our second bar, we can go ahead and put it up on our roof, and just match that up with the measurement in the instructions. It's going to be from center to center, so once we get it kind of up here, grab a measuring tape and make sure that's all lined up. Last thing to do is put our cap on. So, it's gonna slide in, just like this, and we can lock it, and we are ready to rip. And that's pretty much it for the installation. Now we're ready to load up, whatever kind of rooftop accessories you may have. Again, this was the, Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Bar Roof Rack system, for your naked roof, on your 2014 Honda CRV..

Just installed this rack on my 2015 CRV with a naked roof and it took a little over an hour. Simple instructions and assembly but be sure that your feet are in the exact spot recommended. After initial install, the foot on the front driver's door caused a very minor drip/leak from the door seal during a heavy downpour. Simply moving it 1/16" took care of the leak. Great rack and I hardly notice any noise driving on the highway.

Install was easy. I recommend watching the etrailer installation video a couple of times before starting, if you aren't mechanically inclined. I'm not. Also, if you have someone to help you, then installation will go much faster; otherwise, you spend half of your time walking back and forth around the vehicle. I've already loaded my tandem kayak on the roof rack twice and it's awesome. Was able to secure everything very easily. Highly recommend.

These work great for their intended purpose. However, I am having a number of issues with my doors sealing properly. Now, if it rains, water leaks in around one or all if them depending on the wind and rain. Would definitely give a 5 stars if this was resolved or of there is an alternate solution.

Rails look nice. We will see how they hold up over time. Installation docs are terrible and confusing (and I am a mechanic). Be aware that the front bar is longer than the rear on a 2016 honda crv. Etrailer customer support was responsive and referred me to rhino support phone number. They were very helpful and got me straightened out.

Review from a similar Vortex Aero in Roof Rack

I have been using etrailer for many years and have never had a bad purchase. We are about to start traveling quite a bit with our 5th wheel. Putting our kayaks on the back of the trailer was not an option. I researched several roof top carriers and this package was by far the best value and quality. The Rhino rack is awesome, works extremely well with kayak "J" carriers and installed relatively easy. There was an issue with the measurements for the underside channel covers. For my Ram, they were short. But I always use the old adage of measure 2, 3 or 4 times. Cut once. Saved me a few problems here. As alway7s with etrailer, we are very pleased with the product, the serv ice and the information before purchasing.

Love the bars, I had gotten the other rack parts from different suppliers. I love the look and sleek design of the Rhino Rack. I did the 2500 vortex on a 2016 Subaru Impreza sedan and it fits great and looks even better.

Review from a similar Vortex Aero in Roof Rack

TLDR: It's a good product with (literal) strength, and some weaknesses. Its cheaper than the competitors, and its in stock now. I mainly bought this due to inventory issues from the other main competitors. That it costs about 100 bucks less is nice, but the reasons for the cost difference is noticeable if you've ever used Thule or Yakima products before. Installation was not more or less irritating than any other roof rack (I've installed MANY over the years). Materials are similar, but the plastic parts feel cheaper than Thule or Yakima, and they towers have exposed innards on the inside faces that make it look cheap, and may create more noise. The fit kit feet are good, but the hooks are 2 pieces pinned together instead of formed and cut to custom lengths. This makes them bulkier than the competition. Apparently they are rated for 33% more weight than the others, and that's cool if you need to haul heavy stuff on top. All said, I'd probably buy their stuff again in a pinch, or if I was trying to save money, but for fit and finish I would go with Thule or Yakima

Review from a similar Vortex Aero in Roof Rack

This review is for the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Aluminum-Silver crossbars and associated legs and custom fit kit (RRVA137s-2, DK284, RRRLKVA) necessary for a naked roof installation on a 2018 Honda CR-V. Just enter the model and year of your vehicle and etrailers website will tell you exactly what additional items are necessary to complete the install. etrailers installation instructions and videos are very helpful. The installation document provided is for more than one vehicle and for more than one style rack, so take your time to understand witch measurements apply to your installation and refer to the installation video if necessary. ON that note: The measurements given for front rack did not fit as nicely on the roof as the rear rack, I adjusted the the front rack measurements slightly. I would suggest trial fitting on your vehicle before cutting the metric rulers to final length. Stick On tags are supplied to indicate front, rear and the location to install on your vehicle. Once the rails are adjusted and tagged you can remove and reinstall the racks very quickly. Korren was very helpful in keeping me informed as to availability of items in stock and email shipping tracking. I am very satisfied with etrailers customer service and happy with the appearance and functionality of the Rhino racks.

Easy to install. The pins on the legs clamp perfectly into the fixed points on the car's flush rails. This is a nice low profile set up. The top of the crossbar is about 4" above the roof glass and does not interfere with opening the sunroof. This is a very sturdy setup for our Thule Motion XT XL. etrailer shipped extremely fast. Very pleased with my purchase.

The crossbars are great, but the rubber strip in the middle gets bunched up or comes out when loading heavy items across the bar. But the rubber provides grip, and the grip is amazing. I am not worried about kayaks or rafts sliding around. I do need longer ones though...

Review from a similar Vortex Aero in Roof Rack

Choosing a system for transporting my new (to me, they're actually used) kayaks was TOUGH. I love my little 2017 Honda Fit, and I knew I would love my new kayaks when I got them. I don't want anything bad to happen to either! Also, my car is small and the kayaks are fairly large, comparatively. I've strapped a lot of things to a lot of vehicles, but this is going to be a long term relationship, so I wanted to get it right the first time. I've been researching and reading reviews for months, but I got confirmation that the kayaks were ready for pickup, so I needed to make a decision! I ultimately pulled the trigger on the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars with the 2500 Series Legs and Custom DK Fit Kit for my naked roof car and the Rhino-Rack Nautic Stack Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs. I placed my order on 09/15/21 at 6 PM. The estimated delivery date was 09/23/21, which made me a little sad. I really wanted to pick up my boats on Sunday, 09/19/21, but I figured I'd waited THIS long, I could probably handle waiting another week. I was very pleasantly surprised to receive an email at 8 PM the same evening notifying me that my order had shipped. AND, even better, the UPS tracking was showing delivery on 09/18/21 by 7PM! I was beyond excited, but didn't get my hopes up because shipping has been pretty hit or miss since well before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, UPS delivered my package just before noon on Saturday, which was amazing! I got everything unpacked and reviewed to ensure that I had all I would need to assemble the system - check. Nothing missing, which is always an auspicious start. Then I started reading the instructions - UGH. This is (so far) the ONLY thing I have to complain about. I have put together IKEA furniture that had clearer instructions. I probably should have gone to Google to find a YouTube video, but I powered through with the instructions provided. Since I've never put together or used a roof rack before, I didn't really know what the final outcome should look like, so that made interpreting the instructions very difficult - the pictures were not super clear, and the accompanying text did not improve the situation. Now that I know what it looks like assembled, I get it, but at the time it was rough. I estimated it took me about 2 hours to get the rack assembled and secured to my car, and towards the end my fiancé arrived and helped me to realize that the foot pads were not properly attached to the feet, which made a huge difference! The kayak carrier was much easier to install, taking maybe 15 additional minutes. The foot pads rest in the groove on the edge of the roof, I assume over the frame of the car. There's absolutely no flex in the roof where the feet sit. The hook part of the clamp rests against the metal of the car, under the rubber seal, so I don't foresee any potential issues with the seal as a result of the rack. The doors close as normal, and the rack has no movement whatsoever once tightened down. I've now used it as a handle to pull myself up towards the roof a few times (I'm about 190 lbs), and I feel totally confident that it's not going anywhere. I now have ideas about how to use the rack to haul around the larger stuff that won't fit INSIDE my car (which isn't much - I HIGHLY recommend this car!). So, the big question - how'd it go with the kayaks? In short - perfection! I was slightly concerned about the boats overhanging the front or back of my car, as they're 12.5 ft long and my car is just over 13 ft long. Eeeeek! I needn't have worried. They fit like a dream, and even without bow or stern tie downs were very secure during our trip home. We took local roads instead of the highway because we didn't tie down the bow and stern, so we probably didn't go over 40 ish MPH, but I saw absolutely no lift (I can see the ends of the boats out of the front windshield). I will be using those tie downs in the future, and anticipate no issues with highway speeds under those conditions. Obviously, only time will tell how everything holds up/works out, but at this stage, I am extremely pleased with my decision and am looking forward to many kayaking adventures to come! I only have one picture at this point, but may take a few more and add them so anyone else considering a similar setup knows what they'll be getting.

I am extremely pleased with this product and the etrailer.com. I would definitely purchase this item again and will look to etrailer.com for future purchases. The item arrived quickly and completely as described. The pictures and videos provided on the website ensured I got exactly what I wanted and helped guide the install. My only critique is I received three different installation manuals and didn't realize at first they were for different products. They were very similar so I didn't notice the difference prior to drilling the holes in my topper. Thankfully I did notice prior to creating any major problems, but I ended up adding a few more bolts than my application required (which means more holes drilled in my topper) and it was in metric instead of standard (should have been my first clue). I'm not sure why I received installation manuals for other material, so just take minute to make sure you're referencing the correct one. Additionally, measure multiple times, drill ONCE! I was very nervous to drill holes in my topper so I must have measured 6 or 7 times. I finally just had to go for it. The painters tape was very important for measuring and aligning and prevented my drill bit from sliding. I also used a brand new multipurpose drill bit.

Very nice rack package. Everything was complete, and install was easy 4/10. I had used another review for the hole spacing, as it was easier. Holes at each end 5/8 in then at 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, for a total of 8 on each rail. I bought the heavy duty set, that’s why there’s 8. The standard has only 6/rail. I marked a centerline on the cap, and put the rails at 36” on center. I used painters tape to be sure they were straight. I also measured , and laid out the holes on the cap and drilled a SINGLE HOLE at the 36” mark. Then verified that the end holes would hit the reinforced portion of my ARE cap. Once that was verified, I drilled the rest of the holes. Because of the camber of the cap, a second person is helpful (holding the rail tight to the cap) when tightening up the nuts from inside the cap. After that, the rest was easy. Just center the rail mounts and lock them in. I would definitely recommend this rack set up, Especially since it was half of what my local Yakima dealer quoted me. This was installed on a 2016 Silverado, 2500. Tools used- Tape measure, grease pencil, painters tape, 1/4” drill bit and Cordless drill.

Great product, Roc25 for my 2012 Prius. The bars are a little big and chunky, but I like that they don’t protrude off the side of the roof, and that they are quiet (light whistle I only hear with the windows open). The roof can only handle ~100 lbs so longer more utilitarian bars would be useless. Great for a small roof box and maybe a single bike.

I found the bars very nice. I like then as well as the Thule Aero bars my daughter has on her car and these are a lot less expensive. They were a little more work to install, but I took it slow and there were no problems. I took a 200 mile trip after installing them, nothing on them, and I didn't really notice any problem with noise. I have had square bars on other cars and you could really tell they were up there even with a deflector. I would do these again if I need another set for something.

I searched a lot of websites before finding what I needed on etrailer.com for my 2012 Suzuki GV. I was looking for the proper mounts to install a Kayak rack system. Because my vehicle has a built in rail system it was very confusing what was needed. Thank you etrailer for hooking me up with the appropriate parts for the Rhino system, it worked great!

I really like these flush rails! Because my Honda Fit's roof is already sort of in the danger zone for me hitting my head every time I bend down to put the kid in the car seat or whatever else, having traditional crossbars stick out into space beyond the roof line would have been a recipe for a black eye. Installation was very quick and secure, and road noise isn't bad at all.

Bought this a few weeks ago and finally got around to installing it yesterday. Overall it is very easy to install. I assembled everything in my shop and set the rails about 1 inch wider that what I actually wanted them to be. Put the whole assembly on the roof the the camper shell and centered using a soft seamstress tape measure. Once centered I marked the holes, i then cut the rails down 3 inches and put it back on the roof. I am real OCD so everything was measured precise and equal. Once I was ready to drill holes I measured everything again and once I got up my nerve I drilled all 16 holes in the roof. I did not use the butyl supplied with the racks, instead I used windshield urethane ( I installed windshield in a previous life). I then lined everything up and installed the rails. Before screwing down I put some large D-rings in place and the tightened the lock nuts. The D-rings will allow me to hang things from them. Now I am just waiting to strap my surfboards to the top and head to the beach.

At first I didn’t know how to get the end pieces off because I thought it was locked and didn’t know where the key was. After pulling one of the ends pieces off, I saw that the blue key was inside the crossbar next to the measuring strips. Took me a minute but figured that part out, but the instructions were easy to follow. Can’t wait to test it out on my Kayaks! I have this installed on my Toyota Corolla LE 2013.

I purchased Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars with Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Legs (RRRLKVA) and Fit Kit (DK284) for my 2020 Honda CR-V EX Hybrid. The rack was easy to assemble and took about an hour. The only tool not supplied that you need is a sharp knife or scissors to cut the rubber strips to length. Once assembled, the installation took about 30 minutes, making sure to measure accurately for placement. I used blue painter's tape to initially mark the locations. I then placed the white marking arrows (supplied) to align with the marks on the tape. I then removed the tape, placed the racks aligned with the arrows, and tightened the clamps. This product seems well made and engineered (I'm a retired mechanical engineer). Kudos to Rhino-Rack and to etrailer for selling it.

Review from a similar Vortex Aero in Roof Rack

Have used the roof rack on our Ford F350 to carry 2 kayaks while towing our 5th wheel. It has worked well and allowed us to bring our kayaks with us while we RV around the country.

Review from a similar Vortex Aero in Roof Rack

etrailer.com's videos and additional customer support made the purchase of a Rhino Rack system from them for our 2010 Malibu a no brainer. The rack fit the car perfectly, and with the videos and clear instructions that came with the kit, I got it installed on the car with only one misstep. The instructions came the the measurements in centimeters and inches. I didn't have a metric tape measure, and ended up messing up converting fractions to decimal. My Daughter is going to college 500 miles away and is moving into an unfurnished apartment and needed to pick up some small furniture that wouldn't fit in her Malibu. She purchased several items from Facebook Marketplace and was able to transport a twin bed and mattress, a medium sized desk and some dining room chairs (in several trips) with no problems. The only thing I can think of to improve the installation would be to have the Inches measurements in decimal or to include an inexpensive metric tape.

Comments
Still rock solid after a year. Very happy with the Rack. My daughter has used it from time to time over the past year when something wont fit in her car, and shes had no problems with it at all.
