Video Transcript for Thule WingBar Evo Roof Rack Installation - 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe

Today on our 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule WingBar Evo roof rack system. The bars are made of aluminum so they're not gonna rust away. The ones you see right now have a black powder coated finish, but if you do like the look of silver on your vehicle, they are also gonna come in silver. These are 60 inches long from end to end. There's a bunch of cool things that I like about the Evo bars, to start off, we are gonna have a T-slot up top but this is really cool and unique to the WingBar Evos. You just take that cap and you twist it, so we don't have to take these off every single time we want to use that T-slot, and the other nice thing about this compared to some of the other ones on our site, these bars, we don't have to trim any of this top section just because it is split.

So all you gotta do is just run your accessory through there. So it just makes adding those T-slot accessories a lot easier. Moving down to the towers. If you notice, we do have a little core right here. This is just a dummy core.

It does not come with blocking cores, but I do recommend that you grab some and just make sure that they're all keyed alike. So all you'll need is a kit of four of them on our website to make this lockable. Right now, I have the bars completely centered on top of our roof, so from the farthest point right here on our tower to the start of the cap, that's gonna be the usable bar space outside of our towers, and that's about 3 and a 1/2 inches, but you don't have to fully have them completely centered on top of your roof. If you do have an accessory that needs a certain amount of bar overhang, let's just say the Hullevator by Thule, the load assist kayak carrier, we can actually shift this over to one side and create roughly around seven inches of overhang if we went all the way to one side. So it all just depends on your accessories.

For your wraparound accessories, the arrow bar at its thickest point is an inch thick and the width is 3 and 1/8 of an inch. Pretty much all of the wraparound accessories I have found work with the arrow bars just because it's kind of a standard shape, and with the arrow bars, we have a thicker portion up top in the front, and then towards the end, it's a little skinnier. It's kinda like an airplane wing. So this is gonna have the least amount of drag whenever you're going down the road. When you're taking a look at your accessories, there's a couple measurements you kind of want to take into account, and that is just the amount of distance that those accessories are going to add to the bottom of your bar.

So with our sunroof completely open right now, we have two inches of clearance, so that shouldn't give us any trouble. And especially on the back bar, we're not gonna have any issues because the distance from the top of our roof to the bottom of the bar is 3 and 3/8ths. We always want you to check your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure that your roof can handle the amount of weight that the bars are rated for. So the bars and the feet are rated for 165 pounds. So just keep that in mind whenever you're loading up your accessories so we don't overload or damage our towers or bars. Everything that makes contact with our bars on our Tahoe is gonna be rubberized, so you don't have to worry about it scratching anything up. One, we have a rubber boot right here, and that's completely rubber, but then the clamps are coated with rubber and there's metal underneath there, but I haven't really found that the coating wears off over time. So you don't have to worry about your bars getting scratched up, cause this has a nice little paint job and you want to keep it like that. So don't have to worry about the towers damaging your vehicle at all. The Tahoe can carry a lot of passengers. So if you are going on a long trip and all of your seats are full, there's gonna be a lot of stuff inside. We do have a decent amount of cargo space in the back, but I know when my family goes, we have a Tahoe and our stuff blocks that back window and that's not good for visibility. So with the roof rack, it's gonna enable you to put all that stuff for all the passengers up on top of your roof, so everybody's a little bit more comfortable going down the road. On those longer trips, the more space that the kiddos have, the more happy they're gonna be, which makes you a lot more happy as well. So I think that's a great accessory to kind of look for. But also for kayaks, or if you don't wanna put anything into your hitch or if you're already using your hitch for something else, you can use it for some bike racks. We have so many different accessories and I honestly think it looks good and it really enables your Tahoe to do a lot. So let's run you through the installation process so you can see how easy it is so you can do it at home. Let's prepare the bar. This is what we're gonna wanna do first. I already have the first one installed, so I'm gonna run over the install now. We're gonna wanna take this cap off on the arrow bars. You just have this little piece right here that you push in and I find it best to kind of wiggle it back and forth. Take that off. I'm gonna do that on both sides, just like that. And once that's done, we're going to take our tower, right here, we're gonna pop this out, little cap, and then this is gonna be the outside. So when we slide this on, we do want it to be facing the outside. So if you can see right there, I'm just gonna slide this in and then we can take that cap and put it back on. Only goes on one way, and if you have the wrong side like I just did, it's not gonna work. Just put that in. And so these aren't moving around all the time, I like to take this piece right here, slide it all the way up. So now what we can do, look at it like this. We're gonna take the A bracket. Notice how we have two tabs on one side and one tab on the other, the two tabs are gonna go right here like that, and then we wanna make sure that this rod goes through there. Once it does, we're gonna take our rubber piece. It's only gonna go on one way. It's gonna go in front of it, and notice how it's going into those little slots. So just push that in there. You're good to go. Then we'll take our B bracket, looks like this as a C bracket, and then we're going to put it on here like this. And then we have one more piece right here. We're gonna have the threaded portion and then the aisle and key portion, threaded portion down, and we're just gonna get this going a little bit, just like that. We're not gonna tighten it down yet. So we're gonna do that same exact process on the other side and for the other bar that you have. Now we're ready to put this on our roof. We wanna take a look at what accessories we're gonna put on here. Usually there's a crossbar spread that it wants. So put it within that range if you know exactly what you're putting on your roof, and it's just gonna slide over like this. I like doing the other side first and then this side and then what we can do, you can either get a tape measure out or just kind of eye it out and see if it's perfectly even on both sides. And I'll meet you on that side and I'll show you how to tighten it all down. We wanna make sure everything is nice and seated correctly. And you can tell that if the rubber piece right here is perfectly molded around our top and now we just want to take our tool that is included with the kit and we can tighten this down, make sure that the distance between the center of the bar on the front and the back are the same on both sides. So they're nice and straight. One thing I do like about the tool that they include is when we start to tighten it down all the way, it's gonna start clicking, and that's gonna be the torque setting. So you can't over tighten this and damage the internals of our threads. So that is what we want. Get it to click where you do that same exact thing on the other side. And then once everything's all tightened down, we can take our end cap right here and click it into place. And that's pretty much it for our look at the Thule WingBar Evo roof rack system on our 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe..

  • Square Bar Thule Roof Rack that Fits 2021 Chevy Suburban
At this time there isn't a way to install the older style of Thule square bar on your 2021 Chevy Suburban that has flush rails. Inno has a square bar roof rack design that uses same shape bars and attachment style as the old racks but at this time they do not have a fit for your vehicle. At this time the only way to install a square bar rack would be with the current Thule square bar roof rack components # TH712500, # TH710601, and # TH95JW.

  • Can I Purchase Just the Clamps for Thule Crossbars for My 2021 Chevy Tahoe?
From your recent searches, it looks like you have Thule crossbars. If this is the case, it depends on what Thule crossbar you have. For your 2021 Chevy Tahoe, Thule only has confirmed fitments of the 60" SquareBar Evo Crossbars # TH712500 or the WingBar Evo Crossbars - 60" # TH711520. Since these crossbars do not have a bottom channel that extends the entire length of the bars, we cannot confirm if crossbars of different lengths will fit your Tahoe. Without the proper length, it is impossible...

The most low-profile roof rack option we offer for a 2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV is the Thule WingBar Edge Crossbar System composed of part # TH76FE, part # TH89SC, and part # TH95JW. These aero shaped bars will blend in very well with the vehicle and provide very minimal wind resistance.
