Video Transcript for Blue Ox 7' Safety Cables Review

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Blue Ox safety cables for flat towed vehicles. Now these are pretty heavy duty cables rated at 7,500 pounds. So on a vehicle like a Jeep Wrangler that should be more than sufficient to be safe. The cable has some really nice features as a plastic coating is on it so that's gonna keep it from scratching your tow bar. You also have metal keepers here that act as a spring loaded stop here. That way it's not gonna accidentally disconnect and when you do need to disconnect, you can simply just push that down and also makes hooking up super easy as well.

The coil design also keeps it up off the ground even with its 84 inches of length. This should be no problem, and that way it's not dragging. It also kind of makes it nice for when you are unhooked. It kind of coils it all together, keeping it nice and tight. Now, many tow bars don't come with cables included so this is a component that you can pick up separately that's gonna work well.

Now, if you do have cable management on your tow bar which allows your wires and all your cables to be a little bit cleaner attached to the tow bar, you're gonna want to pick up a straight cable version and that way you can kind of easily attach that to it and we have those available here at etrailer. Other than that these are gonna be a great addition when picking up an entry level tow bar that may not have the cables or if you're just replacing some old cables that have started to fray and poke you when you use them. This is gonna be an awesome option. And that was a look at Blue Ox Safety cables for flat towed vehicles.

I love them. Strong and clean

by:

Always Great and what you expect. THANKS Scott

by:

Replacements for original set, one cable damaged during entering a gas station and a recent detachment on highway. These same cables did their job and saved my toad after a locking pin sheared off and my blue ox bar detached from the coach.

by:

Always a pleasure to do business with, knowledgeable and excellent customer service.

by:

Fast shipping works great

by:

Brittany was very knowledgeable and helpful. She steered me clear of a few mistakes and I very much appreciate the help.

by:

The safety cables work very well. They have maintained the original coil which keeps them from getting too close to the ground. The snaps are great and easy to hook and unhook. Thank you E-Trailer for handling great products.

by:

by:

excellent product and quick delivery, great service

by:

They were exactly what I wanted, they work well.

by:

Delivery was on time as promised. Great value.

Product was great both times. After I learned to keep the cable from between the hitch and the ground the second set looked like new yesterday when I looked at them!

All is well with the Blue Ox equipment! Good equipment!

by:

These replaced chains (never again!!) Very happy with the purchase and cables.

by:

Had owned one of these for 9-10 years and had no major problems, but the rubberpads the bikes ride on did come loose after about 7 years so I had to glue and eventually tape them back on to get longer use out if it. The new one I have is performing as well as the older one but the pads are already coming loose after one year

by:

One of our cables was scraped through the exterior cover and caught on the ground on an incline. I thought it best to replace the cable so found these. Now I will have a spare too.

by:

The cables sent were rated at 7500 lbs which was fine with me but one of the rubber clips that keep the "S" hooks from jumping off the hitch was torn and could not be used. I leave the cables on my RV hitch at all times so I used plastic cable ties cinched around the "S" hooks in place of he rubber clips at the RV. I should have spent the extra bucks and bought the 10,000 lb. with the attached spring loaded metal clips.

by:

bought these before they work great

by:

The safety cables are great.

The cables are great.

by:

Critical product for safe towing in keeping towed vehicle behind towing vehicle in case the tow bar or hitch fails.

by:

I bought these for use with the Blue Ox Adventurer Tow Bar. I found through one of the etrailer [online] videos that I would need the Safety Cables. They arrivd with the other items I ordered in less than two Days. I was surprised at the speed of delivery.

by:

Cables are heavy duty and well made. Springs on hook are strong and will not come apart. Coils will not drag like my old cables.

Tom

Great still like new and easy to use

Great product. I've towed the car behind my RV several times and have peace of mind that if something breaks, I've got great cables to prevent further damage to my car and other vehicles on the road. Thankfully I've haven't had to put them to the test, and I hope I never do.

  • Can I Use a Tow Dolly to Flat-Tow My 2022 Ford Ranger 4x4?
I went ahead and confirmed with your Ford owner's manual that you can only flat-tow your 2022 Ford Ranger 4x4 by flat-towing it with all four wheels on the ground. You can potentially damage the truck/void any warrantees if you attempt to use a tow dolly with your Ranger. With that being said, we have a great selection of parts for your Ranger to flat tow it. For the recommended setup, I suggest the following: - Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-524459-5 -...

  • Recommended Tow Bar Wiring and Safety Cables To Flat Tow 2017 GMC Canyon
Since you already have a tow bar, base plates, and a supplemental braking system for your 2017 GMC Canyon you are most of the way to a complete flat tow setup. Since you mentioned that you are using the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Supplemental Braking System # RM-9400 you will also need the 12 Volt Outlet Kit # RM-9332, and Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751472 for your Canyon. The last components you will need are the wiring, and safety cables you mentioned, and likely a high-low...

To attach your Reese tow bar to the Demco Classic Base Plate Kit # DM9518010 you were looking at you would need the an adapter # DM9523015. You'll remove the connectors from your tow bar (pictured below) and install the adapters in their place. The adapters will simply slide into the tabs of the base plate and then you'll just need to slide the locking pins through the base plate tabs and adapters. To flat tow your 2001 Jeep Cherokee you'll also need a tow bar wiring kit, braking system,...

Since you already have the etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms Item # e98948 picked out as your base plates I recommend the following to complete your set up: Tow Bar: Blue Ox Adventurer Tow Bar with Adjustable-Width Arms - A-Frame - Car Mount - 5,000lbs Item # BX7322. This hitch will require a 2" ball hitch like Item # C45036. • Part Recommendations for Flat-Towing a 2019 Ford Ranger
I can definitely help! The main components you need to flat-tow your 2019 Ford Ranger include a base plate, a tow bar, a tow braking system, safety cables, and vehicle tow wiring. From the sounds of your question, it looks like you are between choosing a Blue Ox and a Roadmaster base plate/tow bar setup. I always recommend the Roadmaster setup because I favor the style of the Roadmaster quick-connect brackets over the Blue Ox ones. With a Roadmaster base plate, you do not need to purchase...

The Blue Ox Acclaim, part # BX4330, that you referenced in your question will fit Blue Ox removable-tab base plates that are spaced between 23 inches - 30 inches, so they Acclaim will not work for your application. The Blue Ox Adventurer, part # BX7322, would be the appropriate tow bar that you will need to use instead. The weight capacity listed for cables is for the pair. For example the Blue Ox 7' Safety Cables - 7,500lbs # BX88196 you referenced would have a 3,750lb capacity per cable. Since Roadmaster doesn't have a 7,500lb cable I'm assuming you're referencing the RoadMaster 76" Single Hook, Straight Safety Cables # RM-645-76. I've drawn up some dimensions for these two cables as well as the Demco Coiled Safety Cables # DM9523003 you referenced below.

We don't have any kits with 60" long cables but this is the closest length we have to what you're needing.
