Advanced RV Tank Monitoring

Traditional tank monitors have a reputation for being unreliable. Only a few sensors are installed inside, meaning that they usually only measure in quarter increments and can send false readings if they get dirty. When you're keeping an eye on how much fresh water you have, the difference between 25% full and empty means a lot, and that inaccuracy can be a problem.

The SeeLeveL tank monitoring system uses technology that can sense fluid levels from the outside of the tank. The sensors' flexible circuit board sticks in place and measures along its entire height. This makes it accurate in single-digit increments.

LPG Monitoring

LPG tank equipped with a remote sensor

Large RVs with permanent propane tanks often feature wired sensors on their gauges. These can go by different names, such as LPG gauge sensors, tank level monitors, remote ready dials, or R3D dials. If your RV has an interior panel for monitoring LPG levels, you know you're good to go with wiring already in place for an easy install. If you're not sure, check the tank itself. If the gauge has a wired sensor attached to it, you can connect it to the SeeLeveL monitor.

SeeLeveL sensors used for fresh, gray, and black tanks will not work on metal tanks of any kind, including LPG tanks.

Video Transcript for Review of SeeLeveL Smart RV - Management System - SE59VR

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the SeeLeveL RV Holding Tank Monitoring System for your fresh, gray, and black tanks. Now, if your RV tank monitor readings will change from 25% full to empty in the blink of an eye, that can be a problem. So this monitoring system here will track and display the levels of your RV's holding tanks at the push of a button. This will hard-wire to your SeeLeveL sensors right here, and it includes the three 12 inch long sensors for fresh, gray, and black tanks, and it'll also display your propane level and battery voltage. Now, the traditional tank monitors have a reputation for being unreliable, only a few sensors are installed inside, meaning that they usually only measure in quarter increments and can send false readings if they get dirty.

So when you're keeping an eye on how much fresh water you have, the difference in 25% full and empty can mean a lot, and that inaccuracy could be a problem. Now, these sensors right here that are included, these will mount to the outside of your holding tanks rather than using interior probes. As we mentioned, it includes three sensors. This will prevent false readings that can be caused by accumulating debris, provides readings with single digit accuracy, and what's nice is these sensors can be trimmed or stacked with additional sensor to match your tank size. Now, one sensor can accommodate a five inch to 13 inch tall tank, and if you stack them, additional sensors, you can accommodate tanks up to 25 inches tall.

The monitor right here, this display monitor also show your propane levels and battery voltage, has a diagnostic mode to check status and signal strength of the sensors, and it offers error codes, which alert you of any issues, and then you can just check the manual for suggested solutions to those errors. Now, you can also add multiple monitors, so that you can check tank status from the service bay and inside your RV, we do sell those separately on our website. And it is a very easy installation. Basically, you just cut a 1 7/8 inch by three inch hole for the recessed mount of this monitor, comes with the mounting screws to attach it, and then you attach the sensors on the tanks and then hard-wire them together. Does include the pigtails that are needed for installation.

The tabs on top of the sensors are trimmed to indicate which tank it's on, and the length of these sensors can be trimmed every 1 1/2 inches to match the height of your tank, and they are marked, there's 1 1/2 inches, that's each increment to show you where it can be trimmed. The bus wiring in this will let all sensors splice together to one line, and your existing wiring from your old tank monitor system can be used to help ease installation. Few specs on this, the application is a three tank system for RVs and motorhomes, the sensor length we mentioned is 12 inches, and the last thing we'll do is just measure the monitor. Measurement on that is gonna be right at four inches wide by 2 3/4 inches tall, and the depth of it with the plug installed in there is only about 1 1/4 inches deep. But that should do it for the review on the SeeLeveL RV Holding Tank Monitoring System for your fresh, gray, and black tanks..

These sensors are so much better than the internal probes because they don’t get gunk on them. You can set the sensors on the outside and the positions that you want and it reads by percentage. I would definitely buy them again.

  • Can The SeeLevel RV Holding Tank Monitoring System # SE59VR Be Mounted At A Diagonal?
I reached out to SeeLevel to determine if you will have any issues running the RV Holding Tank Monitoring System # SE59VR on a diagonal. They mentioned they have had issues with the sensors not working correctly when mounted on a diagonal. They said the issues weren't always immediate so while it may work at first there is a greater chance of having issues in the future. They said you are better off to run them vertically.

  • How Do the SeeLeveL RV Holding Tank Monitoring Sensors Work for Propane Tanks
With your trailer not currently measuring propane levels, I would recommend going with the SeeLeveL RV Holding Tank Monitoring System # SE39VR which comes with the water pump switch. The reason for that is because the SeeLeveL RV Holding Tank Monitoring System # SE59VR which can monitor propane is only going to work if your propane tank already has a gauge with wired sensor. This is because the sensors in these kits will not work with metal tanks, including propane tanks. These prewired...
