Advanced RV Tank Monitoring

Traditional tank monitors have a reputation for being unreliable. Only a few sensors are installed inside, meaning that they usually only measure in quarter increments and can send false readings if they get dirty. When you're keeping an eye on how much fresh water you have, the difference between 25% full and empty means a lot, and that inaccuracy can be a problem.

The SeeLeveL tank monitoring system uses technology that can sense fluid levels from the outside of the tank. The sensors' flexible circuit board sticks in place and measures along its entire height. This makes it accurate in single-digit increments.

Easy Install

If you're comfortable with basic wiring, installing the SeeLeveL monitoring system should be a straightforward DIY project.

A single 6" sensor can measure a tank as tall as 7". For a shorter tank, the sensor can be trimmed. Unlike the 12" and 16" SeeLeveL sensors, the 6" sensor cannot be stacked for taller tanks. If your tank is taller than 7", use a taller sensor.

Sensor Options
Tank Height Best Resolution Other Acceptable
4-1/2" - 5" (1) 6" -
5" - 7" (1) 6" (1) 12"
7" - 13" (1) 12" (1) 16"
13" - 17" (2) 12" (1) 16"
17" - 25" (2) 12" (2) 16"
25" - 34" (2) 16" -
Part numbers: 6" (SE77VR), 12" (SE87VR), 16" (SE27VR)

To get the best resolution for the highest accuracy, choose the right setup. The segments along the left side of the sensor have 7 read points each. The more of those segments you have, the better the accuracy. Even with the lowest resolution possible, you will get tank readings accurate within 8%.

After some surface preparation, the sensors are attached to the tanks with 3M adhesive backing. Splice together all signal wires and all ground wires from the sensors, and run those two wires through your RV to the monitor inside. If you're replacing an old tank monitoring system, the existing wiring can be used.

Video Transcript for Review of SeeLeveL Smart RV - Monitoring System - SE78VR

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, I'm gonna take a look at this 12 inch long sea level sensor for your RV holding tank monitor. Now, this sensor is what'll adhere to the outside of the RV's holding tank, to measure its fluid levels. And it'll send those readings to a sea level monitor inside your RV. Now, the monitor's we do sell separately on our website, there are many different models and we usually do list them on this product page as a related product. Now, traditional tank monitors that use internal sensors, and they have a reputation for being unreliable, 'cause only a few of the sensors are installed inside, meaning that they usually only measure in quarter increments, and they can send false readings if they get dirty.

While keeping an eye on how much fresh water you have, the difference between 25% full and empty, will mean a lot, and that inaccuracy can be a problem. What's nice with these sensors, these will mount to the outside of the tank, rather than using an interior probe, and it will prevent false readings caused by accumulating debris. The sensor itself will measure how much fluid is in your RV's holding tank, and it will hard wire to the sea level holding tank monitor, which we mentioned early we do sell separately. This will provide readings with single digit accuracy. Basally, this will read levels within 3% to 5%, instead of the quarter instruments on the tradition monitors.

What's nice is this sensor is coated with a flexible epoxy layer for added durability. And it can be trimmed or stacked with another sensor. To fit size of your tank, basically if you look closely here, you might be able to see in the reflection, You can see the markings there, about every one and a half inches. So, it can be trimmed every one and a half inches to match the height of your tank. One sensor itself can accommodate seven inch to 13 inch tall tanks.

And you can stack additional sensors to accommodate tanks up to 25 inches tall. And these do install easily. You basically just clean the tank's surface real good, remove this 3M backing, and then stick the whole sensor inside of your holding tank. Right up at the top here, these tabs on top of the sensor, they are trimmed to indicate which tank it's on. And the bus wiring will let all your sensors to splice together for one line.

The existing wire from your old tank monitor system can be used to ease the installation. Now, just to give you the length on this, we mentioned. It is gonna be 12 inches long and the width on it is right at 2 3/8 inches wide. But that should do it for the review on this 12 inch long sea level sensor for your RV holding tank monitor..
