This solar controller prevents harmful overcharging by adjusting the power generated by a solar panel before it reaches your RV batteries. It uses pulse width modulation technology to regulate the output through pulses that provide a consistent charge. Typically, this type of technology is a good fit for smaller systems with lower voltages.
Automatic Multistage Charging System
Using a multistage charging system, the controller automatically switches voltages while the battery bank charges. This accelerates the charge, but also helps extend battery life by adjusting the voltage during the different modes. The controller is compatible with multiple battery types and includes preset charging profiles for sealed/gel, AGM, flooded/wet cell, and lithium batteries.
Charging Modes
- Bulk: This mode charges at the full rated load for a quicker recharge time. As the name suggests, this is where the bulk of the charging happens. It typically charges the battery to at least 80% capacity.
- Absorption: This mode provides controlled voltage to ensure a full charge. Once the battery reaches between 80% to 90% capacity, the absorption state will kick in and start charging at a regulated voltage. In each charging profile, this mode is set to last for 30 minutes after the bulk charge is completed.
- Float: Once the battery reaches full charge, this mode maintains a lower voltage to compensate for self-discharge. This reduces battery stress and minimizes gassing and water loss.
- Equalization: On flooded/wet cell batteries, this mode activates to prevent stratification and sulfate buildup during extended float cycles. These two issues can damage a battery by causing the accumulation of acid at the bottom of the battery and hardened sulfate crystals on the battery plates. This mode is especially helpful when your battery is going unused during storage.
Practical, Convenient Features
With Maximum Power Boost Technology, you can simply press a button to activate Bulk mode for the highest charging voltage. This lets you quickly top off your battery bank before the end of the day by capturing as much power as possible.
This solar controller is built to charge two battery banks and has terminals for a primary and secondary battery. Your primary battery will receive the full current until it is completely charged. Then, your secondary battery will start to draw the charge current.
The backlit, digital display acts as an information center for your solar panel output. It shows the charging current, battery voltage, and battery state of charge. It also allows you to input your battery type and choose a charging profile. Additionally, a built-in USB port on the front of the controller provides a convenient outlet to charge your cell phone or tablet.
It includes a Bluetooth function that lets you connect the controller to your smartphone or tablet with the free Go Power! Connect app. With this app, you can wirelessly view the same live battery information included on the display. Also, you can control your battery profile and toggle Maximum Power Boost Technology mode.
Lastly, the controller includes several built-in safety features to help protect your equipment. The charging process will shut down if the controller starts to overheat and when an overcurrent is detected. Also, if the battery or solar panel is wired incorrectly, it activates a reverse polarity alarm.
Power Control for Compatible Go Power 12V Pure Sine Wave Inverters
By linking the solar controller and a Go Power 12V pure sine wave inverter with a typical telephone cable, you can control the inverter's power function. Additionally, when the battery bank falls below 11V, the controller uses an automatic low voltage disconnect that shuts down the inverter. After the bank has been sufficiently charged (12.8V for lead acid and 12.2V for lithium), the inverter will turn back on automatically.

How It Installs
The solar controller flush-mounts to a wall inside your RV. The manual includes a mounting template with measurements to ensure proper installation. It is wired to the solar panel using MC4 cables. Then, the battery bank is wired to the primary terminals on the controller. If you are using additional batteries, they can be connected to the secondary terminals. You can also install a fuse or circuit breaker (sold separately) up to 50 amps between the solar controller and battery for additional current protection.

Brought this as a upgrade to my original GP-PWM-30 which did not specifically support a Lithium battery profile. Also for the remote Bluetooth Android App. Looked around for a MPPT solar controller that supported Dual Battery Banks without finding a suitable one. So I want back to this GoPower brand of PWM controller that did. It has performed as expected and the upgrades made seem to have increased the amount of AmpHours drawn from my solar panels by a small amount. I still wish it had been fully upgraded to a MPPT controller.

Was quite pleased with this controller and the solar panel that I got through etrailer. This controller has a much more detailed power display than the one it replaced. It was easy to install and was able to hook up 2 solar panels making my dry camping, which makes up about 95% of what I do, much better knowing that my batteries are fully charged.

This is an upgrade to the original Go-Power Solar Controller that came with my Lance TT. It will easily handle the increased production from the additions of a portable solar generator. The small increase in the backside dimensions forced me to slightly increase the opening to allow it to fit. The screw holes aligned perfectly. Before buying a replacement for your unit that has a malfunctioning display screen, you might try to disconnect the battery then return the power... it might reset for you.

This most recent purchase, a GoPower Solar Charger is awesome! This is a direct replacement for our failing Speciality Concepts Mark PV Controller. This unit fit perfectly into the existing opening and the mounting screws lined up. This GoPower controller charges the battery bank considerably faster and far more efficiently. Our battery voltage memains higher and the "boost" feature quickly tops off the battery during higher useage. As an added bonus, this is able to charge a secondary battery bank which we use to charge and maintain the engine batteries in our motorhome. Finally, it's easy to use and can handle many battery types including Lithium. What a great value!

Works well. Is very much seamless in its operation . Ocassionally the Bluetooth interface to my iPhone would need to be re established but it seems app updates may have eliminated that issue. With 300 watts of panel it is able to bring two batteries up from 50% charge to full charge in a day and a half during summer. Fit my lance 1172 pickup camper perfectly. Panel knockout and wiring were already in place from factory.

This dual bank controller is what every RV needs. It charges the camper first as primary, then charges the chassis starting battery secondary. Never a dead starting battery since. RV sits all winter to full charged batteries in the Spring.

This product replaces the original solar controller that didn't have a lithium battery charging profile. All I had to do was switch 4 wires. The new controller has the same dimensions as the old, so no modifications were necessary.

Perfect upgrade to the earlier model - this added a lithium charge mode and bluetooth. Just a few wires to disconnect and reconnect. Face plate and screw holes were the same dimensions as the previous model.

Upgraded to this Go Power controller to be better accommodate the charging of our newly installed lithium batteries. Easy install and works great. Now I know the Li batteries are being properly charged. The old control worked ok using the AGM setting, but this one is designed for lithium and I like the Bluetooth feature. Just remember to “Disconnect” when you are done using the app.

I replaced an older Go Power PWM Solar Charge Controller that came with the RV in 2016 with this one so I could have Bluetooth control and be able the more fully monitor the state-of-charge of my 200 AH Li-ion battery bank. The swap out was very straight-forward. Make sure to disconnect the battery bank before transferring the wires. The unit powered up as expected upon reconnecting the battery. Setting the Controller to monitor Li-ion battery was easy per instructions that come with unit. Paring Bluetooth with my phone and a the unit was the most challenging aspect but was accomplished after moving around in the phone app. All in all a great experience so far. Should issues arise I will update as appropriate.

The controller works as advertised. The hardest part was cutting through the paneling, I did not need the template on the last page as it matched the one on the wall, but I was glad it was there.
