Today we're going to take a look at the Buyers Product Stake Pocket Spare Tire Carrier. Now this part will provide a removable spare tire mount on your stake body trucks or trailers. It is constructed of a durable steel with a nice black powder coat finish for corrosion resistance. It comes out of the box all ready to install. This carrier is designed to fit most standard 3 1/2 inch by 3 3/4 inch stake pockets. It does include the mounting plate and the mounting bolt to install this to the stake pocket.
All you do is drop this into the stake pocket, put your bracket on there. Run your bolt up through the bracket. Then just thread it into the bolt that's on the carrier itself, and it'll hold it into place. Now since many of the large trailers we usually have many different stake pockets on each side of the trailer. This carrier will allow you to put it in the best position for your application. Since it isn't permanent, it can be unbolted and moved around to fit what you might be hauling at that moment.
Now this spare tire carrier has an angle design to it you can see when it's installed. It'll give the tire extra clearance of about 6 1/2 inches out and about 7 1/2 inches up from the stake pocket. If you look on the mounting plate, there's six holes. There's a total of 1/2 inch diameter holes and three 5/8 inch diameter holes. That will also include these press-in studs. It gives you two 1/2 inch with nuts and two 9/16 press-in wheel studs with nuts.
That will allow you to carry most popular 13 inch and larger wheels and tires. Basically, it depends. You pick what stud size you need, let's say the 1/2 inch. They're press-in, so you start them, and then you just press them into place. Then you put this one over to whatever bolt pattern is on your wheel.
Again, they just press into place, and then once you put your wheel up on there you take your included lug nuts and tighten the wheel down. It'll carry your spare tire. Now this is designed to fit wheels that have the following bolt patterns. It'll work on five on 4 1/2 bolt pattern, five on five inch bolt pattern, six on 5 1/2 inch, and eight on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. It will cover most of the normal, common bolt patterns that are out there. That should do it for the review on the Buyers Product Stake Pocket Spare Tire Carrier.

Spare Tire Carrier provides a removable spare tire mount that fits standard stake pockets on stake body trucks and trailers. 6-hole design will cover many tire bolt patterns. Angled post gives your tire extra clearance. Durable steel construction. This carrier is solidly built and has a nice gloss finish that seems thick. The part that inserts into the stake pocket is longer than the pocket on my new trailer so the bracket could not tighten it into position. I managed to adapt a hard plastic spacer to fill the 1/2" gap and it works, for now. I will search for a more robust solution. Also, as others have mentioned, the lug bolts provided do not fit in the openings, even accepting that a tight friction fit is intended. I had to use a Dremel to ream out the opening as well as chamfer the bolt shoulders before using a heavy mallet in Hulk mode to get them seated. It should not have required that level of "encouragement". The first issue may be due to my trailer design, but the second issue can be fixed by the vendor.
Just installed it. Will know how it holds up in a few weeks. Looks great though!!
holes not drilled in correctly
The stake pocket spare tire holder is well built and once the bolt securing it to the pocket is tight the tire does not move. Very secure!
It came with two size studs to fit multiple tire sizes. Quality item!
It seems to be a good spare tire rack, but I had two problems. The first was that the studs would not even begin to fit into the holes corresponding to my wheel pattern. I was using the smaller holes and the smaller studs. I had to grind out the holes and still had to really drive the studs into the holes. Once set up on my trailer.. I found that my stake pockets are too close to the front rail and the rear fender, for my spare to fit on the rack and not hit the rail or fender... I can't use it as is... I will probably get someone to just weld the thing to my frame.....
It is made well and showed up early. It works fine and is the best option for my trailer. It now securely holds a sixteen inch spare tire on the mid-right side of my 14K pound trailer.
Angles too far out from trailer. Makes trailer over 102 inches wide. Had to cut and reweld
Got order within 3 days, the spare tire mount is well made and fit my equipment trailer well. Only issue was trying to get the friction studs into the mount to hold the tire. Other than that I am extremely happy with this product.
This was a good option for adding a spare tire mount to my trailer.
Worked great!
I never had a spare tire before and didn’t have a way to mount it to the trailer. This is an easy an very safe way to have a spare tire without giving up cargo space. I would recommend this upgrade.
It was simple to install and fit the stake pocket perfectly, the extra holes made mounting sparetire a breeze. I mounted in righthand front stake pocket on my 22ft flatbed car hauler.
Keeps sparetire out of way of loading and looks good. I always like to keep a sparetire on my trailers. Thanks for another fine product.

Just what I was looking for. I had to make one up until I found this one. Easy install with a couple of hand tools.
This is excellent way to carry your spare tire, well built and the etrailer folks shipped it immediately. Very impressed!
I liked the way it was packaged. the tire holder is well built, it's just what I was looking for. I will be installing it on my dump trailer to keep my spare tire in place. Also Thank You very much for the fast shipping. This is the second purshase I make from etrailer and I will go back to them if I need anything else.
This spare tire holder is well constructed and gives you the ability to mount the unit at any rail location needed for the equipment you haul.
solves problem of mounting spare on hydraulic tiltbed and still lets me use adjacent bed stakes and side boards if needed. unit had 6 holes and 2 sets of press-in studs and was well constructed I put an extra locknut on vertical bolt that holds the unit in place and locking lugs on the wheel studs -- if someone tries to steal it they're going to have to work for it
Two issues. The larger pair of lug bolts have splines that extend well beyond the thickness of the steel plate, so the lug nuts run out of threads before the spare tire is tight. It will not fit into my welded on stake pockets, so I will need to grind off about 1/8 off the back, or buy a Bolt on stake pocket to put it in.
Like others have said, the bolt splines are too long and the wheel isn't flush with the mount, so the wheel wobbles. Will have to use about 1/4" washers also. The bracket that's supposed to "catch" the bottom of the stake pocket is out of alignment, leaving the whole unit a bit loose, but not enough for the whole mount to come out.
As described. This is a great item that you can put on and off your trailer in minutes.
Great quality but didn't fit my stake pockets
I thought they where all the same.my fault.
ETrailer has always worked to get me what I needed as soon as possible.
I installed this carrier on my 2018 PJ Trailer and it went on easy, clean and is exactly what I was looking for. It only took 3 days from ordered to delivery. Great product and service!!
Had one of these on my flat-bed trailer before. To bad it was stolen. Knew what I wanted so I ordered another one. Good Quality and super quick shipping from eTrailer!
