Video Transcript for Review of Lippert Components Spare Tire Carrier with Winch - Frame Mount - LC159041

Today we're going to take a look at the Lippert Components Spare Tire Carrier with the winch and it says a 71 inch overall width. Now this Replacement Spare Tire Carrier will install on the underside of your trailer chassis, so it allows you to feel at ease with the spare tire aboard your trailer, but not having the spare tire take up any valuable space that's on top of the trailer. The Spare Tire Carrier features this winch to raise or lower your spare tire and hold the spare tire in the stowed position. It's a sturdy steel frame construction, and includes this winch extension here, which is turned by using a manual hand crank, which is not included. The extension length on this extension, or this winch extension is about 35 and a half inches. Now using a manual hand crank or a Scissors Jack handle or even a three quarter inch socket or wrench applied to the end of this winch extension will allow you to operate the winch. So if you turn this counter-clockwise, you can see it will lower your spare tire.

And if he turned the winch extension clockwise, you can see that it'll raise your spare tire. Now the Spare Tire Carrier does have a maximum weight capacity of 150 pounds. The winch end bracket here that goes through the center hole of your wheel, this will hold a wheel with a pilot hole diameter of up to about five inches diameter. Now this is a bolt-on installation. The hardware is not included, but the instruction that you get with this will show you what type of hardware is needed for installation. And for safety reasons, Lippert does recommend curbside installation of the Tire Carrier, so this winch extension is accessible from the curb site.Overall length we mentioned from one end to the other, is 71 inches. The width on this for the rails here is 18 and a quarter inches, and the width outward, the mounting brackets are a little bit wider.

It's 21 and one eighth inches. But again, just to show you on the switch extension, when you put your handle on there, and if you turn it counterclockwise, you can see it lowers your winch. And again, if you turn it clockwise, it'll raise your spare tire up and hold it in place. But that should do it for the review on the Lippert Components Spare Tire Carrier with the winch.

Replacement spare tire carrier for RVs. Spare tire winch bolts onto chassis for easy and convenient acess to spare tire.

My wife and I just purchased our 2022 Flagstaff Microlite 22TBS.
We are new to the RV world and could not be happier we discovered etrailer who’s awesome customer service and support helped us supply our trailer to make it our home away from home.
One thing we found was with the spare tire mounted on the rear bumper, it interfered with our bicycle rack and our cargo carrier when we needed to carrier our generator.
Upon looking at our options on we found the Lippert RV Spare Tire Carrier.
When it arrived at our home we found it was very nicely packaged and upon opening the box the carrier was wrapped in plastic and held securely in place with the use of spray in foam.
Once I removed the carrier I found there wasn’t a single scratch or imperfection.
The carrier comes without the mounting hardware or installation instructions, but this is clearly stated in the advertisement, and the link for the complete installation is supplied in the ad as a PDF, which was easily downloaded and lists the recommended hardware for the installation.
I was easily able to purchase the eight grade 8 5/16” X 1’ bolts, washers and nylon lock nuts, however the eight 5/16” X 3/4” self drilling screws were not available at any of my local hardware stores.
I did a quick online search and found the self drilling 5/16” X 3/4” bolts which I received on the same day we received the carrier.
Following the installation instructions made the installation a breeze.
I made the initial measurements for the carrier’s location and used four clamps to hold it in place while drilling the holes for the required hardware.
Even though it’s not called out for in the installation instructions I drilled pilot holes into the steel frame for the 5/16” self drilling bolts and was able to install the carrier myself without any issues.
Once I completed the installation, I easily placed the spare tire on the carrier using the winch and following the instructions.
The spare tire carrier is everything we hoped it would be and now allows us to mount our bike rack using the hitch receiver on the rear of our trailer.
I would recommend the Lippert Spare Tire Carrier to anyone needing to mount their spare tire in an alternate location.

I bought this to get my spare tire off the back end of my trailer so I could use it for other purposes (like hauling bikes). My trailer came with a carrier rack on the back that held the spare tire. When it folded down the tire would rub on the ground due to clearance...or lack thereof.

The item arrived quick and in a giant coffin sized box. It was packaged very well (sealed in plastic, spray foam and a cardboard box) but somehow was still damaged. The crank handle had a bend in it which gave it an orbit the size of a volleyball. I was able to get most of it out so I could use it. It had to be from whoever packed it in the box as well as it was packaged. My hope is I never have to use this thing!!

Anyway, I mounted it on the front of my fifth wheel just behind the landing gear. If I did ever need, God forbid, to change the tire, I could just go around front to retrieve it instead of crawling under the trailer.

The install was pretty easy and there was no assembly whatsoever. There were also no instructions provided and the documentation link on the site didn't work. etrailer fixed that pretty quickly.

The most challenging part of getting it on th etrailer was just that...getting it on the trailer. I used jack stands to hold it up close and then C Clamps to hold it still. The other fun part was drilling the holes and screwing in the self tapping screws (both are requested (and not included) in the documentation). When drilling all those holds, I looked like Mr. Mom changing Kenny's painted sisters diaper and I still had hot sharp metal going down my sleeve and the back of my shirt.

ettrailer honored their price guarantee too so that was great! So far so good!

Thanks etrailer!

Fit perfectly. Would of gotten 5 stars if self tapping screws were included. If you buy this product you will need to buy 16 self tapping screws. I recommend drilling pilot holes one size under the size of the self tapping screws. I used 4 clamps to hold the carrier in place until I got it positioned and at least one hold drilled for each corner. Took 20-25 minutes to mount.

Packed great, arrived in new condition. Easy to install with installation video.

Noah is a valuable asset to this company! He has outstanding customer service skills, very knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and courteous. He was very patient while I explained my issue, found a solution right away, and kept me informed during the entire process. This type of service is extremely rare these days. I hope Noah gets the recognition he deserves, including a raise or bonus. I highly recommend this company, and would definitely shop here again when needed without hesitation. I cannot thank Noah enough.

  • Determining If Lippert RV Spare Tire Carrier W/ Winch LC159041 Will Fit Trailer
To make sure the Lippert RV Spare Tire Carrier with Winch - 71" Overall Width # LC159041 will fit your trailer you will need to measure the width of your frame. Your frame will need to be 71" outside to outside for this carrier to fit correctly. To complete the installation you will need to source 8 5/16" x 3/4" self tapping screws, 8 5/16" x 18 x 1" bolts, and 8 5/16" x 18 x 1" nylon lock nuts from your local hardware store. • Will Lippert LC159041 Spare Tire Carrier Fit on a 2022 Rockwood Mini Lite 2509s
The Lippert # LC159041 isn't a RV-specific product. Lippert doesn't provide us a list of which RV's it fits or doesn't fit. However, there is a way you can determine if it'll work for you. The carrier has an overall width of 71 inches, so if the frame members of your travel trailer are 71 inches apart, measured outside to outside, the # LC159041 would work just fine for you. This carrier is designed to attach to the frame members under the rear of the travel trailer, not at the trailer...

  • Can the Lippert Components RV Spare Tire Carrier Be Used On a Motorhome
The Lippert Components RV Spare Tire Carrier part # LC159041 is designed primarily for trailers so it would not be a good choice for your motorhome. The weight of the spare tire, size of the hub pilot, and frame spacing would all be an issue so I cannot recommend this. However, I do have an option for you in the Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier part # RM-195225 which is designed specially for a motorhome spare wheel/tire so you know it will work for you as well. That said, there...

  • Spare Tire Carrier Recommendation for 19-1/2 Inch Class A Motorhome Wheel/Tire
The Lippert # LC159041 will work with a towed RV like a bumper pull camper or fifth wheel, but due to the size and weight of the wheels/tires on a motorhome, it would not be a good choice. For a heavy 19-1/2 inch wheel like what's on your Class A, I'd recommend the Roadmaster # RM-195225 which features a pass through receiver. The carrier pivots to the ground, which means you which makes loading and unloading the spare much easier. The carrier accommodates 16-24-1/2 wheels and is compatible...

  • Does Lippert Spare Tire Carrier Have Max Tire Size & Use on Motorhome
There isn't a specific tire size limitation for the Lippert Components RV Spare Tire Carrier with Winch - 71" Overall Width # LC159041, just a weight limitation of 150 lbs. The carrier isn't really designed for motorhomes as it would be quite difficult to install as it's designed for mounting to the frame of a trailer. If you have the room on your Holiday Rambler I suppose it is possible but a much better and easier option for carrying your tire with a 22-12 inch wheel is a hitch-mounted...

  • Can Hitch Extender Be Used with Swagman Escapee on Back of Travel Trailer
I do have an option for you but it isn't advised to use a hitch extender on a travel trailer, especially on a bike rack with e-bikes.
