AJ: What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're going to check out the Demco Spare Tire Carrier that mounts your swivel jack. Take a look at our boat trailer today. You can see we don't have a lot of options to mount our spare tire. Sure, we can just throw it in the boat and take away boat space. We can try and put it here underneath the boat, but I don't think it's going to fit there.
So, what the Demco Spare Tire Carrier does, is it allows it to mount the existing hardware on your swivel jack. I set both color options side by side. We have the silver finish one or the black powder coat finish one. So, I know every trailer is different. Whatever one you think would fit best for your trailer, it's up to you.
Both are going to work the same and hold the same tires. It's literally just a color difference. And how the spare tire carrier works, is you can loosen this bolt here in the center, which backs off this plate here and allows the bolts to slide freely in these channels which accommodates to many different bolt pattern sizes. So this is the six and a half bolt pattern all the way down to the two and a half, minimum. It's important to get your bolt pattern set while it's on the ground like this, whether then when it's attached to your jack. So we're just going to lay down.
I actually put a roll of tape in here to help hold this up since it's a little bit off-center, it'll tip. We're going to set the tire down on top of that and get these bolts lined up. Just lift up the tire, line up that bolt. It looks like it needs to come this way a little bit more. It's easy enough just to lift it up. Look at that.
Lines up. So we're go ahead and give it a couple turns to tighten it while the tire is on there, and then take the tire off and continue to tighten it just enough so it won't move when I take the tire off. There you go.Now ready to attach it to the jack. What we have to do there is we're just going to back out of these bolts and remove these plates on this side because that's where our spare tire carrier is going to mount. Now go ahead and remove the plates, and then we'll add our spare tire carrier. Now we're going to add our nuts back in here. Use the existing hardware on your swivel jack. It does not come with hardware. And when we went to go put the bolts back in, we just tapped it a little bit here with a hammer just to get it through. It was not quite wanting to go through. Just one little tap and they went through just fine. Now we'll run those down and try and do it evenly with all four. Now with the spare tire carrier installed on the tongue of the trailer I can go ahead and lower the swivel jack back down on the ground and we can get rid of this floor jack. Now let's throw on our spare tire. We already had the bolt set to this pattern earlier. This will just be a matter of lining it up. You got them on there. Now the spare tire carrier does not come with lug nuts so you have to get those separately. So make sure you get the appropriate lug nuts. We have a steel wheel here, so we've got lug nuts that work with steel. I'll go ahead and tighten them down. With it tightened down, let's give it the shake test. I'm moving the whole trailer. I didn't hear any clanging or anything like that. I didn't see or feel any movement while I was shaking the tire. So, I think it's going to hold the tire of your boat trailer just fine.I think it was a great option because as you can see, there's not a lot of other options for this. You have to go somewhere on the tongue here on the front and we thought the jack might be a way for any other way to do it, or we'd have to throw our tire in the boat and that just takes up boat space. This uses the existing space you have and just puts it on the other side of the jack. Nice and out of the way, and not in your boat. Now whether you go with the silver or the black powder coating, they both have a 500-hour salt spray rating. So if you're near the ocean or just in an area where they put a lot of salt down in the winter, it's going to be protected from those elements. That does it for our look at the Demco Spare Tire Carrier. Hope this helped.

Swivel-jack-mount tire carrier mounts your spare tire up and out of the way. Replaces the mounting bracket on your swivel jack. Accepts any wheel bolt pattern from 2-1/2" to 6-1/2". Silver powder coat finish resists corrosion. This was what I was looking for. But very expensive and no hardware. Had to purchase longer wheel bolts because my spare tire is on a mag wheel and the bolts were too short. It didn't come with lug nuts. I also had to purchase longer mounting hardware. Although this spare tire mount cost me alot, it allowed me to put the tire where I needed it.
This spare mount is pretty well put together. I gave 4 stars not 5 because of 2 things, first it doesn’t come with wheel style lug nuts (which I knew up front) and second the height adjustment of the wheel studs is limited by 3/4” center tightening bolt. It would be nice if either the mount was taller or the wheel mounting bolts would be able to be adjusted all the way up.
Overall good product and great customer service.
Very high quality product.Works excellent worth the money
Its already rusting
Quality looks to be really good. Bolt holes lined up very well with my trailer jack. For the price you pay, I’m surprised they don’t supply the nuts for the spare tire bolts. Now I have to go to the hardware store to buy them. That’s my only complaint.
Very nice shipment. The package arrived Saturday well packed and will look forward to installing on my trailer. Spare time mount and jack are of high quality. Thank you for your time locating the right product that will fit my need. Well done.
This looks nice and it's heavy duty. Be sure to measure the width of your swivel jack. Mine is only 4.5" wide and the spacing on this one is 5.5". So it will not work as I intended but I will still use it one way or another.

I recommend touching it up with Rustoleum. Although the carrier does have rust resistant coating to start, it does not last forever, especially exposed to year round weather and road debris.
