Hello neighbors, Steven here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at this Bulldog Collar-Lok coupler with a high profile latch design and it's made for a two inch ball. As you can see, this is for a round trailer tongue and it is a well-known application. Now folks, this is gonna be perfect for those heavy duty couplers such as the utility trailer, livestock trailer, cargo and construction trailers. The nice cargo lock design here is gonna offer automatic, continuously tight fitting for absolute security. So you can see it's spring loaded here on this guy right here where that gap is.
This collar goes over there. So if I pull this pin and I open the latch here, I get it all the way open, it automatically spring loads open. You can see that spring in there and the collar here is actually holding that open. So again, nice high profile handle latch there. The steel tubing is super strong and durable.
As you can see, it's been painted a gray color. You can paint it whatever you want, obviously. And a few things I like is the visual indicators that it's either open or when it's closed, the visual indicator that it's closed. The collar will cover this, locking it, and then you also have the pin inside with the handle down. So it's a very, very nice design as far as number one, durability.
And number two, just knowing that it's actually closed. So I'm gonna grab a ball here that says a demo. So again, a 52 inch ball, and I'm gonna have to invert this so I can show you here. But as I could say, get the spring in there so the ball goes in. If you get the latch pulled back, you close that and then the collar will slide over again, closing that.
And as you can see, the ball's not going nowhere, so it's nice, tight closed again. It's closed here. You can put the pin back in here and you can be rest assured that the ball's not coming out. No one can accidentally open it. All that stuff. Taking it off, pull the pin back. Now this is probably gonna drop 'cause it spring loaded. There we go. And again, it opened by itself after, well, I pulled this, but it stayed open by itself and that spring latch popped it out so that it's ready to go for the next time that you re-hook onto a ball. I'm gonna put that ball away. So again folks, that's been our look at this Bulldog coupler lock. Some measurements I wanna mention now before I close, the whole thing overall is about 10 3/4 inches long. Again, if it's a two inch ball size, it's rated at 5,000 pounds capacity. That's all stamped on top of the coupler head itself as well. Now as far as the tubing itself, the outer diameter here is 2 1/4 inches wide. And the inner diameter there is 1 3/4 inches thick, or wide, sorry. The hole inside is 1 3/4 inches inside. So if you're welding this on your round tubular trailer front, that's the measurement you're gonna need, obviously. Well folks, that's gonna wrap it up. This has been our look at the Bulldog Collar-Lok coupler with the high profile latch, again for a two inch ball with a round tongue. I'm Steve. Thanks for watching.

Heavy-duty coupler has a high-profile latch and hinged ball socket that offers a tight fit with visual indication of proper closure around the ball - all to ensure quick, easy and secure hookup. The couplers (3) are of excellent quality. Ordering was very simple by telephone. All questions were answered. Shipping was immediate and the product arrived in an unmolested box which surprised me due to the weight. I expected the box to be dented and the corners smashed. Tracking of shipments was important to me. Couplers will be installed on a rather unique vehicle. Each of the three cars of this miniture train will receive the new couplers.
Bull dog has been a great hitch. One time I pulled a load upwith a five ton comealong.while winching I noticed the trailer touched the ground needless to say the truck was in the air.the tounge is rated for seven thousand, the load weighted eight thousand six hundred pounds plus the trailer. What a hitch. The only draw back I wish the insert for weldingis a little short for my preference. Wish was about three inches longer. Thanks
Heravey duty for sure. Just what I need
Great Product, Fast SERVICE!
Just what I needed and couldn’t find at local stores. Great price.
Replacing rusted old style coupler.Bolted it on with 1/2 inch grade8 bolts. These are easy to use and more secure.no guessing if its on the ball .only drawback was having delivered by usps, came a week late.
This coupler was not only a replacement part but an upgrade over the OEM coupler on this trailer!
Bulldog couplers are the best simple ball coupler ever. Whenever a coupler on one of my trailers becomes even slightly worn, I replace it with a bulldog -- you never have to worry about one of these comming off the ball, no matter what it's put through.
Produced is depicted having a lunch pin to secure item in the locked position. It arrived with only a cotter pin which I will not use out of safety concerns.
My opinion a Bull Dog hitch is the only good trailer hitch on the market
I love the bulldog collar coupler, so easy to use. No pinching of fingers sliding like on old latch.
This is how I received my merchandise I was lucky the part was still
In side the box
Best decision ever to use a bulldog hit ch!
Collar lock couplers are the way to go for hook up and trailer safety. Will get new collar lock welded on and send pics of my upgrade.
LOVE this Bulldog hitch! I welded it to my new custom built motorcycle trailer and I will never go back to the other kind again. So much easier to get a positive connection. I also like the integrated lock hole in the latch. It's definitely worth the money.
Super fast shipping.
Quality products
After years of just using the trailer on the farm I wanted to make it road worthy.
The hitch (Bulldog) and wiring harness were the last two items I needed to get it rolling again.
I bought this old really cheap to rebuild. One of the parts that had to be replaced was the hitch, I towed it home with my fingers crossed. I googled trailer hitch, trailer and etrailer was one of the sites that was suggested. I had to find a hitch that fit the 3 1/2" pipe that was the tongue, voila there it was to my amazement. I ordered it right then, 4 days later it was delivered yesterday. Today I mounted it, it was an easy installation and I am really pleased with the hitch and install. My fears of losing a trailer are now history, tomorrow it gets tested with 1 1/2 yards of gravel for the slab for my new. shop
The best coupler we have used for our construction business. I have been using these for 14 years now without any problems. We replace them every 5 years at about 160,000 miles when we purchase new trailers. I currently need three now but they have been out of stock for several months. Still waiting for new stock to arrive so I can order. I feel safe with this type coupler and my employees also like the security it provides.
Very nice and solid a great replacement for the stockmen that is inferior to this product.
Great first class online high quality. My excavation business requires many trailers to maintain or update.
We are a large whitewater rafting company and use Bulldog couplers on all our trailers, hauling boats to and back from the river. We've never had issues with any of them and I'd absolutely recommend this particular product. They are easy to install, easy to operate, and last forever, even in the grueling Arizona climate.
Five star service from etrailer, and maybe a two or three-star product from Bulldog. Aside from the rust and the fact that the collar is so stiff that it can't be operated by hand, the fabrication on the steel attachment plate is poor. The holes for the tongue jack are punched out, twice in some cases, resulting in an enlarged hole, but there are no threads for the tongue jack so you'll have to fumble around and use nuts underneath. The vertical angles on the steel are wrong, so it will splay out at the bottom and won't fit tightly to the A-frame and you will need to shim it out. The interior of the casting is full of weld spatter that will chafe the tow ball. I bought the less-expensive Ram sleeve-lock coupler under a Curt label and the fabrication is much better, having none of the problems the BullDog did. etrailer kindly sent me an RMA to return the BullDog.
Receiver worked perfect with 3” square tube
Much better fit than the older two bolt Bulldog coupler that it replaced. Great service as always from etrailer!
