Today, we're going to review part number BD028387. This is the Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler with High-Profile Latch. This Bulldog heavy duty coupler is ideal for utility, livestock, cargo and construction trailers. The Collar-Lok design which is the spot right here offers automatic and continuously tight fit for absolute security. There is also a hinged ball socked right here which makes hookup a snap. This coupler is designed of a high-strength steel which is very durable and it does have a visual indication of proper closure which will provide additional piece of mind.
Basically, what you would do is if you would pull this pin to release the latch, move the latch which would slide this Collar-Lok back. And as you can see, the spring will load it, hinge will open up and allow you to release from the trailer ball. And then when you close it, just pull your latch down and it would lock the hinge part over the ball. This coupler is designed for square or rectangle tongue mount design trailers. It is a weld on application and quickly I'll give you a measurement here.
It fits on a 3-inch wide tongue. It will feet on a 2-inch ball size. The overall length on this coupler will be 16-1/4 inches and, again, it does have a weight capacity. It comes with a limited five-year warranty. And basically again, if you'll just pull the latch up, the Collar-Lok will slide back which will release the hinge ball socket.

LOVE this Bulldog hitch! I welded it to my new custom built motorcycle trailer and I will never go back to the other kind again. So much easier to get a positive connection. I also like the integrated lock hole in the latch. It's definitely worth the money.
Arrived promptly. Well packaged and went on without a hitch. Mounted it on with grade 5 bolts instead of welding it on in case I ever need to replace it or want to put it on a different trailer. Just a tip use 4 in x1/2 bolts with a lock nut and it’s a perfect fit.
Very reliable, rugged performance. No problems with its main purpose: Securing the trailer. But there are a few things that could be improved. For one, Bulldog doesn't offer bolt-on installation on any of its couplers. I'd much prefer to use 1/2-inch Grade 8 bolts rather than permanently weld on the coupler. And it's easy to pinch your fingers on the collar sleeve when closing. And due to the sliding collar design, it's darn near impossible to keep the whole thing painted, because the sliding collar wears off the enamel. Still, it's much easier to line up than a regular yoke/latch coupler, and it's much more rugged.
Replaced my old hitch with the Bulldog hitch. I love it! It centers itself and there is no hassle trying to center it on the hitch ball. Great product.

With this style of coupler you don't have to do any guess work about knowing if the coupler is properly locked on or not, it's a foolproof solution. I am extending the tongue on my atv/utv trailer and wanted the best coupler I could get.
Aaron F - 04/07/2017Have not welded on "Bulldog Collar-Loc Coupler (7,000 lbs) on my trailer yet. The reason I bought it was, I bought from "Ft. Knox Locks" the "Bulldog Lock (siding collar" lock that didn't work with my setup. Your product is of very high quality and the Ft Knox's product is also the same "heavy duty" and quality.
Bulldog hitch was perfect. Also, traiiler lights showed up a day early. Donna in customer service was great abd very knowledgeable. George in Savannah
The bulldog hitch coupler is clearly the most bomber hitch that u can put on your trailer toung. Thanks to etrailer, it is also very affordable. I'm replacing all of my old hitch couplers with bulldogs.
Just what I was looking for. I ordered this couplers for my feed trailer that came with just a pin hitch. Trailer holds 3 ton. This coupler should handle that wait with no trouble. Very satisfying with the product and etrailer.

I use only bull dog hitches. Still using the hitch though my wife may have broken the top piece. (somehow) local place repaired and added parts to put on a lock.
What I needed at the best price on the estimated delivery date. Can't ask for much more. Website is very helpful with product information. Either missed it or it wasn't there that I would have to drill this to fit my trailer tongue. Will definitely order from etrailer again.
