This coupler features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the eZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic. Disengaging the coupler is just as effortless. Simply lift up the handle and the coupler socket will automatically release its grip on the ball.
The contoured, low-profile design of the latch handle helps protect the coupler from damage by allowing any potential hazards - from debris on the road to your ball mount backing into the coupler - to simply slide over the top. This helps prevent anything from getting under the latch handle and releasing the ball, and it can also limit any damage to the coupler should an impact occur.
Unlike most couplers, which have a pin hole through the handle latch, the eZ-Latch coupler features a hole through the side of the coupler itself. Inserting a coupler lock through this hole will keep the latch from lifting, preventing disconnect and theft.

Today we're going to take a look at the Demco eZ-Latch channel tongue trailer coupler for a two inch diameter ball. Has a 10,000 pound weight capacity. Now, this channel tongue coupler will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. Provides the connection point for your two inch hitch ball. This one does use the unique eZ-Latch coupler mechanism, which will ensure simple, secure hookup and disconnect. What's nice about it is it'll let you hook up when the latch is in the closed position, like it is now.
All you do is just drop the coupler over the hitch ball and the latch will snap into place. I am going to demonstrate that. I happened to pull, here's a two inch hitch ball you can see right there.You can see if you just put it on top of the ball, and then when you push down, you can see that it'll automatically latch and lock into place and you're ready to go. The latch then, to remove it, you just pull it all the way up and it'll release it from the ball. It's a very nice, simple installation and removal.
This latch is a corrosion proof polymer nylon resin composite, which is durable and impact resistant. The coupler itself is a sturdy steel construction. Has a nice silver powder coat finish on it, offers excellent corrosion resistance. It does meet the 500 hour salt spray rating, so it is great for marine applications. This is a weld on installation.
It is made in the USA.Few specs, again, it's designed to fit a two inch diameter ball. Weight capacity is 10,000 pounds. The channel width, in other words the size channel it'll fit on if you measure inside, is three inches. One last thing I do want to mention, if you look at the very front here by where the latch is, you'll see this hole that goes all the way through. Basically, this is for security, to allow you to install a coupler lock through there.
Basically, what you'll do is when you put that coupler lock through there, it'll keep your unattended trailer from being taken, or if the trailer is connected to your vehicle, keeps anybody from removing it from your vehicle. The diameter of that hole is five-sixteenths of an inch, so you do want to buy a coupler lock that has a five-sixteenths diameter, and the minimum span you need for that is two and a half inches. For the most part, this trailer tongue is very nice and an excellent, clean, high speed low drag coupler to deal with. Not bulky at all, very strong for a 5-6000# trailer I am using it on, and I like the way it functions. However, I have not used it much at all during winter and I wonder how long the black abs plastic paddle latch will last. Not sure if it could break off in very cold weather or not...because sometimes it takes pretty hard force to lift the latch when unlatching the trailer. One other frustration is that when hooking up the trailer, if you don't have the ball in exactly the right spot, the latch doesn't settle down over the coupler (paddle handle laying down, but pin still raising it off the base of the coupler). Now when this happens, you generaly just have to pull forward a hair and it clicks down...but this means you have to get in and back out of the truck to check...which wastes time. Would I buy this again or recommend to others - yes, but I do think the Bulldog 7K# Collar-Lok Coupler w/ Pin for 3" Channel Tongue (Item #BD028243) is much more fail safe and when it is locked, its in the truck and away you go.
This is the best thing since sliced bread! I feel 100 percent confident that my trailer is secured properly every time. I highly recommend this coupler.
