eZ-Latch Coupler

This coupler features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the eZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic. Disengaging the coupler is just as effortless. Simply lift up the handle and the coupler socket will automatically release its grip on the ball.

Demco eZ-Latch in Use

The contoured, low-profile design of the latch handle helps protect the coupler from damage by allowing any potential hazards - from debris on the road to your ball mount backing into the coupler - to simply slide over the top. This helps prevent anything from getting under the latch handle and releasing the ball, and it can also limit any damage to the coupler should an impact occur.

Demco Coupler Cutaway

Unlike most couplers, which have a pin hole through the handle latch, the eZ-Latch coupler features a hole through the side of the coupler itself. Inserting a coupler lock through this hole will keep the latch from lifting, preventing disconnect and theft.

Sturdy, Corrosion-Resistant Construction

Made of sturdy steel, this straight-tongue coupler features a durable silver powder coat finish that is designed to limit rust and corrosion. This coat has a 500-hour salt spray rating, making the coupler perfect for marine use. The eZ-Latch's sleek, ergonomically designed handle is constructed of a durable composite material that's corrosion-proof, allowing it to withstand whatever the road and the elements dish out.

Video Transcript for Feature Breakdown: Demco Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Demco bolt-on straight-tongue trailer coupler for a 2-5/16-inch-diameter ball. Has a 21,000 pound capacity. Now, this ball coupler will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. Provides a connection point right here for your 2-5/16-inch-diameter hitch ball.

Now, this coupler uses an easy latch mechanism, which ensures a nice, simple, secure hookup and disconnect. Basically, it'll let you hook up when the latch is in the closed position like it is now. All you have to do is drop this over the hitch ball. The latch will snap into place. Just wanna demonstrate that.

Happen to pull, there's a 2-5/16-inch-diameter hitch ball. So you'll see when you get this coupler over the ball, and then enough pressure's put on it, it drops right down, locks into place. If you notice, the latch lifted up and went back down and locked, and now you're all ready to go. To remove it, all you have to do is lift up the handle, and it removes right off the ball, simple as that. Again, just to show you.

If you watch, put a little weight, and it goes right down and latches on. Very easy to latch. The latch on this is a corrosion-proof polymer nylon resin composite latch, which is durable and impact-resistant. Also, the easy latch coupler features a hole right here through the side of the coupler itself. So you can insert a coupler lock through this hole, and it keeps the latch from lifting, preventing any disconnect and theft.

Now, the coupler locks we sell. We do sell those separately, that'll fit in here. What you'll need is one that has a diameter of a five sixteenths of an inch to fit that hole and a minimum span to go across here of about three inches, and again, we sell those coupler locks separately on our website. This is a heavy duty steel construction. The finish on it is a silver sparkle powder coat finish, which gives you excellent corrosion resistant. It does meet a 500-hour salt spray rating. So it is great for marine applications. This is a bolt-on installation. If you notice it has the five holes. The hardware is not included. You would've to supply that, and again, the application fits onto a three-inch-wide channel tongue. This part is made in the USA. Again, the ball size it fits onto is a 2 5/16 inch diameter, and the weight capacity on this is 21,000 pounds, but that should do it for the review on this Demco bolt-on straight tongue trailer coupler for the 2-5/16-inch-diameter ball.

So far, I’ve been extremely happy with how quick I get products from these guys, but I did just order a trailer tongue and the paint was all scraped off the one side like it had been bought and then returned. I kept it because it still works. I was just disappointed in how it looked.

Oh my! Customer Service will reach out to you. I recommend touching up the coupler up with a rust resistant paint like Rustoleum.

Thanks again for all of the help. Here are some pics of the completed project. From new axels completely new brake system. A completer overhaul on the trailer! Thanks again for all of your help!!! Much appreciated!!!

After so many delays, and the USPS playing ping pong with my part between here and Detroit, today I go an EMPTY BOX. This has to be a joke.

by:

Exactly what i ordered. Works as designed. Shipping was delayed a few days but thats not Etrailers doing.

by:

Bolt holes line up with the surge coupler it replaced, but needed a lot of convincing with my 5 pound sledgehammer to get it to go over the 3" channel. Not sure if the channel was slightly oversized or the coupler slightly under, but I also am not going to pry it back off to check :)

I hope the coating between the coupler and the channel wasn't scraped off too much by the process, and it doesn't rust.
