Speaker 1: Today we're gonna take a look at the Dutton Lainson straight tongue trailer coupler for two inch hitch balls. Has a 3500 pound weight capacity. Now this coupler is perfect for your towing needs. It's a rust resistant coupler, which is designed to be bolted onto your trailer's tongue. And the Dutton Lainson couplers offer an exclusive quick lock ball clamp assembly that can be adjusted without wrenches.The finish on it is a nice zinc tough plate finish, has three times the corrosion resistance of standard zinc plated chrome process, and about 30% greater corrosion resistance when compared to powder coat finish. It's a durable steel construction; has the easy to use trigger style latch.
Makes for a quick and easy trailer hookup. And again, it's designed for two inch hitch ball. I happen to pull a two inch hitch ball. Here we go, just to demonstrate. And you just pull up on the trigger in the latch, that'll open it up.
Drop it onto the hitch ball. And then when you close it, lock it into place, you can see that it hooks onto your hitch ball. And then to release it, again just pull on this trigger, pull it up. And just like that, it'll release it from the hitch ball.This is a bolt-on installation. If you look on the side, has the two holes here, just bolt it onto your tongue.
This part is made in the USA. Again, the specs on this, the ball size is two inches, capacity is 3500 pounds. Mounting, it's designed to fit on a two inch wide channel tongue. Now overall length on this, from this edge all the way out to this edge, it's gonna be right at ten inches. The channel length which is on the inside, that'll slide onto the tongue.
Gonna be right at five inches channel length. The overall height from the bottom to the top here, is gonna be right at two and three quarter inches. If you include the latch from the bottom to the top of the latch it's right about four inches. The width on it, overall outside width from edge to edge, is right at two and a half inches. Inside is two and one eighth inches. As always, etrailer provided excellent customer service. I put this on my chipper to pull behind my UTV.
I am afraid I do not have any pictures of the trailer lights and trailer tongue coupler that I ordered from you. I would like say that the lights and coupler arrived in a very timely fashion and I have been delighted with the quality of the product and the professional way the order was handled. I just purchased a 2019 Chevrolet 3500 4 door 4x4 truck. I need a hitch to fit the large receiver and several interchangeable trailer balls. I told my wife that the only place I was even thanking about buying them from was etrailer. Your company does business like it used to be done and that is hard to find in today’s world. Product looks good, made in USA, sent unassembled, no instructions, and wrapped in packaging tape, took 1/2 hour to clean before use. Did the factory ever hear of 'shrink wrap'?
The hitch came disassembled which seemed odd. The whole lever assembly was seperate from the main ball receiver so I had to diassemble it keeping both springs and both plates in order and then slip the lever tongue through the slot while trying to hold the catch plate and bolt plate in position with the two springs and get the nut on the bolt. I have no idea why this was not assembled when I received it. Also would have been good to have included the bolt hole location dimension from the top of the channel. I had to ream the holes on both my trailer channel and the ball receiver to get the 3/8" bolts through. The product quality looks good and appear to work fine.
This coupler is well-made, and feels solid. I like the locking mechanisms, which make the coupler feel more reliable and secure than my old coupler. I did have to drill new holes in my trailer to mount this, as the holes didn't line up with the existing ones, but that wasn't a big deal. I would have liked to have gotten instructions for putting the coupler together, as it arrived in two pieces. I did a bit of guesswork regarding how to put it together and adjust it, but instructions would have been nicer. I did notice that with this new coupler, the trailer doesn't make nearly as big a racket while towing, and is so quiet there were times I was afraid I had lost the trailer. Very satisfied overall.
Item was as pictured. I was concerned about the placement of the mounting holes and they are not centered on the channel as I would like but should be sufficient, and maybe a bit stronger near the frame bends. Product came unassembled with no instructions which was not a big problem, but no plus there. In the packaging there was no receipt or other documentation which could be an issue if fitment were to be problematic. Overall, it's a nice piece of hardware, but some documentation and an invoice would have made the overall experience better.
The 2" Ball Coupler looks well made for the job. The ball latch assembly comes un-assembled, that was not stated. My issue is that it was wrapped in clear packing tape, that left adhesive and bits of plastic wrap all over. It required extensive cleaning efforts to remove. This may have been sitting in the hot sun for some time, melting the adhesive, not at all happy about that!
This item was just what I was looking for. I searched in all the local stores and trailer places, and could not find a 2" ball with a 2" channel anyplace but here. Thanks for the fast shipping. al

Product is great. Direct bolt on replacement tor the existing rusted coupler. It comes in two parts, which is not a problem, but the two parts were tapped together with about 3 feet of the stickiest packing tape known to man. I had to wipe the coupler down with acetone to get all the glue off.

looks like a good unit latch is really solid one of the better ones ive seen..was kinda surprised when it came in pieces though...ive always seen them sold already assembled. anyhow havnt tried it out yet its going too be quite awhile b4 its used.
