These Titan Chain diamond-pattern chains are great winter weather chains. If you live in an area where you're likely to get periodic snow and ice, these chains are perfect because they're durable and easy to mount. And they're lightweight and compact, so they store in your vehicle nicely too.

These chains are among the easiest and fastest to install because they have built-in tensioners that you can just pull taut to adjust the fit. These tensioners allow the chains to fit your tires, no matter the profile or wear pattern. And because the tensioners are built-in, you never have to worry about losing them like you might with other chains on the market.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's user manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Tire Chains

Installing these chains is incredibly simple.

Lay chains on the ground to get all the tangles out

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks.

Slide chains behind the tire

2. Spread the chain around the back of the tire.

Make connections behind the tire

3. Connect the ends of the cable, which will sit behind the tire.

Attach green hook to yellow side chains

4. Around front, connect the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook at the top of the tire.

Feed tensioner through clips

5. At the bottom of the tire, feed the silver tensioning chain through the red channel bracket and pull it taut. Then run the tensioner through as many red clips along the side chain as you can, leaving room to still be able to stretch the hook across the tire.

Recheck tension

6. Attach the hook to the side chain directly across from the last clip you ran the tensioner through. The hook should face away from your tire. Pull your vehicle forward 2-3 vehicle lengths and recheck the tension.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Recommended Tire Chains for a 2006 Suzuki Jimny with 205/70-15 Tires
A pair of snow chains would be your best option. In order to recommend a set I would need to know what size tires you have on your vehicle.

  • Recommended Tire Chains for a 2017 Honda Accord w/ 205/65 R-16 Tires
For your 2017 Honda Accord with 205/65 R-16 tires, I recommend the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains item # TC1545 you were looking at. These chains have a diamond pattern that completely cover your tires. The square links offer great traction in both snow and ice. They also have built in tensioners that keep the chains snug on your tires. I have linked an installation video below so you can see how to get them set up. If you are not familiar with tire chains I strongly recommend practicing...

  • Tire Chain Recommendation to Fit Tire Size 205/75-15 on RV
For your tire size of 205/75-15 the correct Titan tire chain you'd want is the part # TC1545. The # TC1540 wouldn't fit properly as it is designed for a smaller tire diameter.

  • Can Tire Chains Be Used On Trailer Tires?
Some states do require tire chains on trailers especially for braked axles. They're commonly called drag chains in this application. As long as you have the internal clearance needed for the chains, you can use them on trailer tires. The Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern # TC1545 are my recommendation for your 205/75R15 tires. They are high-quality manganese nickel alloy steel and the color-coding makes installation easy. These chains require 15mm of internal clearance...

  • Which Tires Should Snow Chains Be Installed On
When using chains they should at least go on the main drive wheels of the vehicle. You can put chains on the other, non-drive wheel tires for greater traction, turning, and braking. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for specific information on the use of tire chains. I have included some links covering tire chains for you as well. If you could tell me the vehicle and tire size I can make some recommendations.

  • Best Snow Tire Chain for 2016 Polaris Ranger UTV
I have a couple options for tire chains for your 2016 Polaris Ranger UTV. It depends on what situation you want them for. My personal favorite is the Titan Chain Alloy Tire Chain # TC1545 with its diamond pattern and relatively easy to install design. The diamond pattern has more tire coverage than your traditional ladder style chains, so it is great with maneuvers like sharp turns or quick stops. • What is the Driving Speed Limit When Using Tire Chains
Any vehicle that uses any brand and type of tire chain should be operated at reduced speeds. If road conditions merit use of chains then they also merit reduced driving speeds, typically 30-mph for most vehicles and most chains. The two linked articles on tire chains will give you plenty of good information as a starting point. Before choosing any tire chains for use on your Mini Cooper, you'll want to refer to your vehicle owner's manual. Many passenger vehicles require special low-profile...

  • Snow Chain Recommendation for a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta TDI with 205/65R16
For an emergency set of snow chains the # PW1038 that you referenced would be a great choice for you to help in a bind as these will fit rims that are from 15-18 inches in diameter. A better option if you plan to drive in snowy conditions would be a full set of chains like the # TC1545 that has been confirmed to fit your tire size. The emergency chains will help you if you get stuck but won't help you much once you get moving. The # TC1545 will help you navigate the snow much better as...

  • Recommended Snow Tire Chains/Cables For A 2017 Chevy Equinox
The owner's manual for a 2017 Chevy Equinox states that you would need to S-Class cables instead of chains due to clearance issues and that they can only be installed on the front tires. Stock tires for a 2017 Chevy Equinox would have a 225/65R17 tire size so you would need the Titan Chain Cable Tire Chain # TC1042. Before purchasing check the sidewall of your tires to make sure the tire size code matches, if not let me know and I'll get you the correct size cables.
