Installation

Installation Step 1

1. Spread the chain around the back of the tire.

Installation Step 2

2. Connect the yellow and blue cable at the back of the tire.

Installation Step 3

3. Push the cable into place behind the tire and center the cross chains on the tire's tread. Then, on the front side of the tire, join the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook.

Installation Step 4

4. Feed the silver draw chain with the rubber tensioner through the red channel at the bottom and pull it tight. Then run the tensioner through the red rings. (Note: Depending on your tire size, you might not be able to thread through both rings.) Pull the tensioner across the tire and fasten it to the yellow chain on the opposite side.

Installation Step 5

5. Pull your vehicle forward and retighten the chain.

Class "S" Designation

SAE Class "S" tire chains are designed for use on vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. Certain newer cars, vans and small trucks, especially those with large, aftermarket tires, may require Class "S" chains.

SAE Class S Clearances

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for a 2021 Ford Transit T250 AWD
I don't have an exact reason as to why self-tensioning tire chains are not recommended for a 2021 Ford Transit T250 per the owner's manual but we have plenty of manual tension options that will work for you depending on your tire size. It looks like there are only two sizes which can use chains for AWD models, 205/75-16 and 235/65-16 so I have attached options for both of these sizes below. Please note, the chains must only be installed on the rear and they must also be class s rated. 235/65-16:...

  • 2016 Ford Transit T350 Tire Chains Recommendations for 235/65/16C Tires
We definitely have a variety of chains that are relatively easy to install on the 235/65/16C tires of your 2016 Ford Transit T350 but when it comes to the speed rating that's a pretty hard no-go as both tire chain and vehicle manufacturers agree it's dangerous to drive over 35 mph. In fact, some vehicle owner's manuals and/or States will have different rules about speeds and snow chains. My #1 choice is the Konig Self-Tensioning XG12 Pro - Size 245 # TH01594245 because they they are easy...

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for a 2013 Dodge Journey
I checked the owners manual of a 2013 Dodge Journey and found that due to limited tire clearances with the vehicle you have to use a very low clearance tire chain to prevent damaging the vehicle. The 17 inch tire size that you should have is the 225/65-17. The chains I would recommend that are confirmed to fit your tire size are the Titan Chains # TC2318. These are S rated chains that are designed for vehicles with limited wheel well clearances. I attached a review video for you to check...

  • Recommended Snow Tire Chains for 235/60R17 Tires
The Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains - Ladder Pattern - Twist Links - 1 Pair # TC1146 is a confirmed fit for the 235/60r17 tires you referenced. The Titan Chain Multi-Arm Rubber Tire Chain Adjuster for Light Trucks - 1 Pair # TCMA2 you will also need to keep these chains tight to your tires. These are more bulky chains than you would typically use on a Saturn Vue, so I recommend using a smaller diameter to allow wheel clearance and prevent possible damage to your wheel wells. For most small...

  • 2007 Saturn Vue Snow Chain Availability
If your 2007 Saturn Vue's owners manual says to not use snow chains we can't safely recommend you do so. However, there are a few S rated snow chains available for your tire size that aren't crazy expensive. Part # TC3810CAM, # TC3010, and part # TC2318 are just a few. For your situation the best solution I could recommend would be to get another set of wheels for your vehicle and have snow tires mounted to them. Snow tires are a great solution as they do not require you to get out and...

  • Low Clearance Tire Chain Recommendation for Jeep Liberty with Tire Size 225/75-16
What your manual is stating is that you need to run tire chains that are low clearance. Meaning they are smaller so that they don't take up as much clearance in the wheel well. For that the easiest option that fits your tire size of 225/75R16 is the part # TH04115245 which installs in a matter of seconds. The option with the best clearance is the K-Summit part # TH02230K66. Or for a budget friendly option that works great the Titan set # TC2318.
