Video Transcript for Viair 7-Way Automatic RV Portable Air Compressor for Class C RVs Spec Review

Hello neighbors, welcome back. I'm Steven here at etrailer.com. Today we're looking at this Viair seven-way automatic RV portable air compressor for the Class C RVs. So again, folks, this is rated for your RV tires. It's gonna be able to inflate up to 150 PSI and that's perfect for most of your Class C RV tires. Make sure you're always checking the PSI rating on the sidewall of your tire to make sure you're inflating it correctly.

Now folks, some of the features with this bad boy, it's got a thermal overload protector that's automatically gonna shut down the unit if it overheats. So this unit pretty much is only gonna be turning on when you're actually inflating something. So it's gonna be quiet when you're not inflating, you're moving around from different sides of the RV or the vehicle that you're, you know, airing up. Now, it does have a nice 20-minute runtime, which I think is pretty impressive. Before you then need to cool it down, let it rest.

Now, you will get two 30 foot-long braided coil hoses. They're gonna make it easier to reach around all your tires, all that kind of stuff. It has what we call a gas station-style inflation gun with 160 PSI max gauge. And that'll let you monitor the tire pressure when you're filling it up. You do get a 45 degree extension on this dually chuck here.

So if you have dual tires, you could pop this bad boy in here. There we go. And then you could then reach the dual tires on the back side of that dual. And then again, there's a closer view of that gauge. And then like all air truck systems, simply pull it, spring load it, comes right out.

And again, all the air hoses here, again, both of 'em are 30 feet, a total of 60 feet if you needed 'em. They've got the quick connections up in here built in with a nice rubber coating over it. So same thing, you could put that in here. Works just as good as it does with the gun itself. So again, two of them exactly the same. You also get this little 90 degree. It's a 40 inch extension, but it's a twist-on air chuck that allow you to reach automatically, you know, different places at different angles. So that just screws onto the Schrader valve. You get a couple extensions and like for inflated air mattresses, there's got the sports ball inflation needles inside there as well with the adapter to make it fit the nozzle and everything with nothing to worry about. It comes with a nice seven-way RV-style plug. So that's how you're gonna power this. You're gonna plug it into your RV's power connector there at the rear and then it's got on-off switch here. Obviously it's not plugged in so you're not gonna hear nothing. But the tank or compressor here, you can kind of see it will actually kind of move on this diamond plate platform. So a nice diamond plate cushioned platform and that thing can rotate and everything and that just keeps it nice and cushioned so it doesn't roll over anything when you're operating it. Has a nice foam handle, very lightweight. It weighs about 10 pounds, maybe 11, somewhere in there. It's got a built-in filter. That way whenever it's sucking in air and compressing it, it's filtering everything to keep it as clean and as little as moisture as possible. Now folks, again, like I mentioned, it does have a nice carry bag as well. And inside this bag, you can literally fit everything in front of me in here. And I'm gonna go box it up here in a second and show you that. But nice open space in the front. You got spots in the back as well for you to put your air hoses and all that kind of stuff, just like the one there in the front. You've got some side panels here. You can put different things there and your little hook-and-loop pocket over here. That secures thing as well. So again, nice little compressor. I've been pretty impressed with what I'm seeing here. And again, the fact that it just plugs into your seven-way is very nice. Throw some information up here as far as the compressor itself, the amps and that kind of stuff, duty cycle. And as far as the dimensions on this, while we've got it pulled up here. So this guy is approximately 10 and seven eighth inches wide or long, five and seven eighth inches wide. And the height on this guy is seven and a half inches tall. And again, it does have a nice one-year warranty. Let me slide this stuff outta the way and I'll show you how it goes into the bag here. So again, nice storage bag here. We're gonna go ahead and put the compressor in here. All that coils up nice and neat. We can put the inflation gun there, the extra hose. These little guys, we can throw in the side pocket here. And then again, you've got the front pocket here. Pop that guy back inside. You can even put that in here if you want it to. But I'm gonna go ahead and put it inside the bag up here. I think it just fits better personally. Seal that up. Nice zippers to close everything up. We'll zip the top one here. And again, nice material on the bag too. It's got like a. like a basic canvas kinda material, but all the stitching inside of here on the zippers and everything looks really, really rigid. I don't think you're gonna have to worry about the bag ripping or anything on you. Okay, so everything fit in there Now we've got our plastic connectors here to seal it up. And there you go. It's all sealed up. Obviously you could tighten these if you need to or something to give you some more space. Everything here fits in the bag. Again, this is the Viair seven-Way, automatic RV portable air compressor for the Class C RVs. Folks, I'm Steven. Thank you so much for your time. I hope this information's been helpful for you. Stay safe out there while you're traveling and have a great day.

As usual I am happy with the always excellent customer service and quick shipping. I am however disappointed in the product. This Viar portable air compressor is replacing one I had for over 10-years which was not sufficient for my current needs and was very happy with it for longevity and performance. I am however unhappy with what I received. The photos associated with the unit I purchased showed battery alligator clamps for power, what I received only has a 7-pin connector. This is problematic because Besides my RV which does have a 7-pin connector, I was hoping to use it in our car which does not. Additionally, while my RV does have a 7-pin plug, I understand it will not power equipment that does not have running lights.

I think that I know what happened. We do have a Viair compressor with the same specs as this one only it has the alligator clips instead of the 7 way. It is part # VA87WR. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you in case you would like to return this on and order the new one. Unfortunately there is not an easy way to convert this one to be used with alligator clips.

I got this to replace a regular 400P Viair compressor that had a very unfortunate hose failure. I guess it speaks to their reliability that despite the fact that the hose on my 15 year old compressor failed I got a new one from the same company.

The automatic feature, meaning that if you lift off the trigger the compressor stops, is really nice. And the automatic 400P has a MUCH better hose. Note that the regular 400P hose, the yellow one, is I think nylon, and Viair recommends it not be used below freezing. Which might have been in part why my old one broke.

It does irritate me that Viair uses a non standard female to female quick release hose. Why not do it like all other air tool set ups? female compressor to male at one end of the hose, female at the other, and male on the tools. Sheesh. In any case, relatively easy to put together a gender switcher (heh) so you could use a regular hose rated for the compressor's pressure.

The gauge on this seems to run a bit high, but again it's better than the regular 400P because if you let the compressor stop you get a true reading. A tad high compared to my regular air pressure gauge and my TPMS, but consistent which is the most important point.

Also, I MUCH prefer the chuck on this. The regular 400P has a non bending metal bit that is tough to fit onto valves on the tires on my truck and some trailers I've used. I had to bend the valve and fight it to get a good connection; it just got in the way of itself. Ugh. This connection is MUCH better. Smooth fitting, and tight.

I noticed it takes a few beats before the compressor turns off after you lift off the trigger. But again, it's consistent so once you know that you anticipate and lift off a bit earlier.

It also has a stickier base, so it doesn't seem to walk around as much. A nice touch.

All in all it was worth it to upgrade to the automatic from the regular 400P even though I was forced into it. Especially since etrailer had it on sale. Thanks etrailer!

Order came four days earlier than promised - very quick delivery on this order. Way to go folks! Registered the product online with manufacturer - cannot wait to use the VIAIR compressor.

by:

Love it! Now I can check and fill tire pressure every
time we hit the road, instead of stopping at the tire,
ware they did not have the chuck to check/fill the outer
rear tire on a dually. Bob

by:

Loving it! Very reliable, easy to use, and have had no issues with it. Happy with our purchase.

by:

Works very well. I use it for inflating tires and pushing liquids out of my RV water supply lines for winter.

by:

Worked like it should happy with it.

by:

I love the design engineering of the pump. 1 year ago I had purchased a smaller pump but it couldn't pump 4 tires to 123m lbs. kept shutting down when it got too hot. Hopefully this on will be able to do that.

by:

there was a defective air filter housing but Viair is supposed to send me a replacement

EASY TO SET UP AND VERY QUICK TO FOLLOW THE USE.

  • Is Viair Portable Air Compressor a Good Choice For Motorhome on Mercedes Sprinter Chassis
Hey Ron, I'll tell you what, if I had to choose a single compressor for my Class C motorhome it would, without hesitation, be the Viair 7-Way Automatic RV Portable Air Compressor for Class C RVs # VA33JR. The # VA33JR will 100 percent work with the 7-way on your Sprinter 3500 (both the 2017 and 2024 models), and that easy connection that you (correctly) noted saves you the trouble of hooking up to your battery is exactly why I'd go with this compressor over any other. I'm a big believer...

  • Options For Using An Air Compressor At The Hitch Of My Truck?
Hello Doug. I am not aware of any adapter made for this purpose. If your compressor is made to be clipped to a battery, this is the only way to use it. It might be possible to modify/extend the battery cables to reach the battery at the front of the truck, but I really can't recommend doing this. The only real solution we can offer would be to use a different kind of compressor like the Viair 7-Way Automatic RV Portable Air Compressor # VA33JR. This compressor has a power cord designed...

  • Looking For A 6 on 4-1/2" Wheel For A Penske Car Hauler Made Bu Demco
Hey Greg. The standard 6 lug pattern is 5-1/2" and I will be honest with you, I have never even heard of a 6 on 4-1/2" wheel. I do know that Demco likes to use unique hubs and spindles for their tow dollies so it does not surprise me that they use this odd bolt pattern. All that said, we do not offer any wheels that use this bolt pattern. You may want to try looking into wheels for a car or truck rather than a trailer wheel. If you try contacting Demco directly they may be able to provide...
