Video Transcript for Manufacturer Breakdown of the Viair Automatic RV Portable Air Compressors

Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here with etrailer. And today, we're taking a look at the Viair compressors and I have Ryan from Viair here. And the great part about working at etrailer is we get a lot of vendor-specific training and we wanna share that information with you. It just makes you a little bit more informed when making those choices. So Ryan, today, we have four RV-specific compressors and what are the difference between them and what would make someone choose one over the other Basically, the way that we design them is for the specific application that you're using it for. So something like the 89P that starts with a Class B style motor home.

It's designed to fill those size tires up to that pressure and it'll ensure you're gonna get a long lifespan, which is what we really pride ourselves on as a durable product that's gonna perform for many, many years. Moving up to the 300P-RV, that's gonna do towable trailers like a 5th wheel or a tow behind camper. That provides 150 PSI working pressure. So it'll even handle some of the higher pressure tires that you have in those 5th wheels. Getting up to the 400P-RVS here.

That one does have a built-in pressure switch, so it's a lot easier to use, provides 150 PSI. That one's perfect for Class C motor homes. It also does have a dually attachment. So if you have dually rear tires, it'll help you attach to those. And then getting up to our big guy here, this is our 450P-RVS.

This will essentially work for any size tire, Class A motor home, 130 PSI, big semi-truck tires, still has the dually attachments, so it'll work with those as well. And if I didn't say that already, it's 100% duty cycle. So you can run that thing continuously, doesn't need a rest period. So filling up tires, obviously, really nice to have it onboard. That way, if something happens on the roadside, you can fix it.

You're not stuck waiting for a tow truck. Something along those lines, but what else can these compressors do Yeah, exactly. So we always say, "If you've got a tire plug kit and an air compressor, you're never gonna be stuck on the side of the road." Essentially, these compressors are designed for tire inflation only. They're not gonna be able to do air tools as a standalone. There's no air tank involved in them. But if you did pair them up with an air tank, you could run air tools. So essentially, these will be used for tire inflation. If you wanted to inflate small, like pool toys or inflatable mattresses, things like that, you can use them for that as well. Or balls, footballs, basketballs. So if you're taking your bike along with you on the journey, you can fill up your bike tire, no problem. Yeah, they actually do come with a Presta valve adapter, so you can even use them on the mountain bike tires, the racing tires that use that Presta valve instead of the Schrader. So they'll use them. They can be used on both the Schrader and the Presta valve. And then if someone had maybe not onboard compressor on their airbags, or if they have something like a shocker hitch or suspension that has airbags, these are totally okay to use Yes, yeah, these are perfect for the shocker hitch. A lot of people don't put the two and two together, but obviously, for the shocker hitch, you need air for that. And then they can also be used to adjust your low leveling bags as long as you have a Schrader valve attachment going to the bags where you can actually fill it up. Which definitely saves the trip to go to a gas station or while you're all loaded up trying to get air tires filled, you know, in a small spot. So that's definitely huge. And plus, dealing with these, you know, just throughout my day here, having a bag and everything to keep it all, you can put it in the basement of your RV or wherever and it's ready to go when you need it. Yeah, they all come as a complete kit. So you get the carry bag that everything stores inside of. They come with a coil hose. Some of them even come with double coil hose. That way, you have an extra reach to reach the big 40-foot toy haulers, connect to 12 volt power sourcing ready to go. Brad Now I noticed that the three of them here seems like those have air gauges built in as well. Ryan Yeah, basically, all of them have air gauges built in. On the 89P, it's built into the compressor. On the 300P and up, the gauges are built in where you're at the tire. On the 400P and the 450P specifically, those come with a tire inflation gun, where you can actually control the flow of the air going into the tire by the inflation gun and then the gauges right there for you to read the tire pressure accurately. Very nice. That way, again, going to a gas station, trying to fill your tires, you're not putting quarters in. And a lot of times, they're out of service. So the fact that you have all the tools and really good tools, really just makes it a companion to bring along. Seems like a no-brainer if you have an RV. Exactly, yep. So hopefully, this helps decide which compressor from Viair is gonna be best for your application. A huge thanks to Ryan from Viair for breaking this down for us and giving us some information. Yeah, thank you for having me. Thank you.

The compressor is great but, I am lucky it arrived undamaged. It appeared the USPS folks put a rubber band around the box to keep things together. I would have thought the store shelf box would have been placed inside a shipping box to be shipped. This unlike anything coming from etrailer.

@CM Great to hear.

I got this primarily to air up my truck tires after a drive on the beach and it has worked perfectly for that. It also is great for topping up my teardrop tires which require 80 psi. Many gas station air compressors won't even fill a tire to 80 psi, so before I got this it was a hassle trying to keep my tires filled.

by:

A pickup truck had a tire low at 65 pds and pumped up to 80 in a matter of minutes. What I like the most for this pump is the ease of use and it is so much smaller than dragging my large pump out of the garage.

by:

The gauge is not exact. It is, however acceptable.

by:

Little compressor works great, airs up my Airstream tires quicly

by:

Said it would arrive in 2 days after ordered and it was! I am one of those that try out new items to make sure I know how it works. I released air from my pickup tire from 80 lbs to 60. Hooked it up and tried it out. Took less than 2 minutes to inflate back to 80. Worked great!

by:

Looks good not in use yet!

by:

I've used this a few times, it is much quieter than my older 120v unit. It does take a couple of minutes to increase pressure from 60 to 80. For now the only downside is having to open the hood to use it.

This review is NOT for the air compressor, but rather of the purchase from etrailer, someone I have purchased from before without any issues. When I placed the order for this online, I received a follow-up email from a sales associate informing me of a delay in shipping and that a SIMILAR item was in stock. The "similar" item was a few models up and four times the price. I quickly replied back stating I did NOT want the far more expensive, in-stock compressor and that I was willing to wait. It arrived today, and etrailer literally slapped stickers on the air compressor's box and shipped it to me that way. The packing slip was taped in place to the outside of the box. This compressor does NOT come packed with any kind of protective padding; nor should it need to be., This should have been safely shipped in another box. The box arrived with a torn flap and was somewhat deformed. I have yet tro try it, but I will in the next day or two to ensure it wasn't damaged in transit. etrailer totally dropped the ball on this purchase.

Purchased as “road” insurance. Viair has a reputation for quality products. Have trust that it will work when needed.

The box was a little battered so, I wasn't overly optimistic when I opened the box. The unit was pristine and everything was in the original packaging. I tested it out and it works perfectly and at almost half of the price anywhere else on the internet it was a sweet deal! Thanks to everyone at etrailer. I will be back!

Bought a heavier-duty inflator than what I needed for my travel trailer - but it worked wonders on the 80PSI tires on my BIL's camper van on a Florida Trip in March. He had a slow leak and it inflated the tire several times quickly before he could get it patched. He is a believer and plans to buy one!

by:

Quick and easy

by:

I have only used this compressor a couple of times. At low pressure / high volume it works as expected. The real test in my case was high pressure. I was able to test the compressor filling 4 tires to 75 psi eash. The compressor worked better (faster) than I expected. Once again E- Trailer was spot on with their recommendation and excellent service.

by:

This works great. My 5th wheel needs 80 psi and most tire pumps at the gas station will not go that high.

by:

This product has been a huge asset to my truck toolbox. Not only for myself, but other stranded motorists I have assisted. Runs very quiet and fills tires fast! Highly recommend. I added a small kit to the bag including tire patch kit, valve tool, extra valves and caps. Also built a female to female hose adapter so I can connect a standard air compressor hose if needed.

by:

Yes,
I have used it on a Motorhome tire
and to air down & air up Jeep tires off road!
The Viair works great!

by:

Compact and powerful. Meets the need for the RV tires at 125psi and enough reach to get truck and 5wheel from battery connection of the RV

  • Comparing Suspension Enhancement Colors for 2013 Toyota Sequoia
The Air Lift and Firestone Coil-Style air springs that fit your 2013 Toyota Sequoia are different colors so that they do stand out actually. Coil-style springs install inside your coil suspension so they are a bit more hidden while standard air bags install above the axle so they are seen a bit easier. If you want suspension enhancement that is a black color then I recommend the Timbren kit # TTORSEQ1. This simply replaces the factory bump stops on your vehicle so your suspension gets...

  • Will The Viair EVC Portable Tire Inflator VA88JR Work For 235/80R/22.5 Tires At 90-94 PSI?
Hello Bruce, thanks for reaching out. The Viair EVC Portable Tire Inflator # VA88JR will absolutely work for maintaining the PSI in your 235/80R/22.5 tires. The compressor can go up to 120 PSI so 90 to 94 PSI will be just fine. It can be a little slow when getting up to higher PSI but it will allow you to top off your tires whenever needed. You just want to make sure you don't let it run for too long at once or it will overheat and shut off.

  • Will The Curt 13538 Allow Me To Store A Spare Tire Under A 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe
The Curt hitch # 13538 is the correct hitch for a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe. It should allow for storage of a full size spare tire without any issue. We have installed this hitch here a 2009 Santa Fe and it all fit together fine. That said when we installed, the spare tire was fully inflated but we did not move it. I can see how getting it back into position could be tricky. In this case I am not aware of a work around. My recommendation would be to let as much air out of the tire as you...
