Hi it's Evangeline. And today we are looking at our LEER HF50M Tonneau Cover, here at etrailer. So this is a pretty cool Tonneau Cover. Of course, if you wanna keep your truck bed and your cargo inside, nice, dry, safe and secure, this is a great option. But what's special about this is how user-friendly it is. It's a tool-free install, which is really nice, especially if you don't wanna deal with complicated covers.
So this is a hard top panel cover. So usually you have two options, soft and hard covers. So this is a nice sturdy cover on your truck bed. And this also folds up, which is cool because then you have different options for different positions that you might want your cover to be in. Some of the pros of a hard Tonneau Cover like this is well for one, it's a lot more secure.
Some of the things I worry about when I see a soft Tonneau Cover is that what if someone just takes a knife to it, or if it can handle extreme elements like hail or rocks. With this, you can tell that it's a lot more durable and it's very secure. It feels secure. It looks secure. Also, it looks really good here on a truck bed.
It's like it's part of the truck itself. Now, one thing about hard Tonneau Covers is that they're usually heavier, so people might get the soft covers because they are a lot lighter. But this addresses that in a way that it actually is relatively light for being a hard Tonneau Cover. And I have noodle arms, I don't like lifting heavy covers, but even for me this is pretty easy to use. What's special about this one too, is it's latching system.
So they do have what they call the CYNC latching system. So you only need to use one hand to unlatch the entire cover. And that's nice because then you aren't feeling with different wires or pulleys or levers like you might have to deal with with other covers. If you want full access to your bed, you can release this and lift the entire thing up, again using your CYNC latching system to release the Tonneau Cover and this comes with some prop rods as well. So you can just prop up your cover and that allows you to have full access to your bed while still having the Tonneau Cover in place and not having to take the entire thing off. There are different options when it comes to Tonneau Covers. This is the folding option or the folding style. Now, if you wanna compare it to other styles like there are the canister styles as well. Those are pretty cool because when you do fold them or roll them up, they do not cover your back window like what this is doing right here. So it really depends on what you're using your cover for. If you want that quick and easy use and you don't mind it having it folded up when you are parked somewhere, that's fine. But if you do want something that you can hold up so that you can drive around and not have your window covered you can also take a look at our canister style options. LEER make sure to add some little extra features just to make sure that you have the best experience with your Tonneau Cover. One is that these panels can be stored in the upright position while you drive around because they have these prop rods. Now, I personally don't enjoy that experience because I like to see out of my rear view mirror. But it is a thing and it is possible thanks to how everything is secured. And there are other features like how this has a nice matte black finish as well as it being dent resistant, which is nice, especially if you're gonna be going through some extreme, maybe off-roading or working with heavy equipment. I'm actually personally impressed by how everything can be strapped down or latched down. We have this secondary latch so that your panel won't be blowing off as you drive around. You also have different latches for different things like this latch for our prop rod, and on the other side, there's a latch for your straps. So for my final thoughts about this cover is I do like how simple and easy it is to install. It was a tool-free installation, which is great, especially because I really don't like drilling into truck beds. That makes me nervous. But as for this, it was so easy to use and I would gladly and easily install again on another truck. Now, another nice thing was that how it has all these different latches, it has all these different designs, different positions, you can put them in. It's nice, sturdy. It's durable. Now, one thing I didn't like was that because it folds up, if you have it in the upright position it will cover your view from your rear window which I don't like, but people have different priorities. So if you want something and you're looking for a cover that's simple, easy to use, easy to install, is strong, is durable. Then this is a great option for you. So that was the look at the Lear HF350M Hard Tonneau Cover here at etrailer..

Tri-fold tonneau cover folds up to provide two-thirds or full truck bed access. Prop rods keep cover from coming in contact with cab. Cover sits 1-1/4" above bed rails. Shuts with the tailgate open or closed.Service from E-Trailer was great. Cover wasn't as heavy duty as I have had in the past thus the cheaper price. I believe it will suit my needs however. Time will tell but so far I am satisfied.
Echoing the comments from previous purchasers, I'm in agreement that the installation instructions that Leer provides is extremely lacking. Using Youtube tutorials is essential to avoiding pitfalls and do-overs.
In addition, the hooks that secure the trailing panel at the fold-line are total garbage. These need a total redesign as they fail to engage with the tabs on the bed rails every time I close that final panel and require me to forcibly seat the panel to engage them. The photos provided show these hooks which are on both sides. The first photo is with the panel open. The second photo shows proper engagement. The third shows the faulty and typical non-engagement. This is a terrible design.
On a brighter note, the cover is very heavy duty and will provide a level of security that a soft cover cannot provide.
My best tonneau cover ever. Great, easy to install and very convenient. Super comfortable.
Overall this seems to be a fairly good tri-fold tonneau cover but I don't like how high it sits on my 2023 Nissan Titan. It is sealed but there is a small gap between the bottom edges of the cover and the top of the bed rails. If I adjust the the side rails down to close the gap they interfere with the factory utili-track system. The instructions were also fairly useless as they are printed way to small to make out any detail in the diagrams. For nearly $[XX] they could have included full size instructions. Also, the box arrived with quite a bit of damage and the prop rods were missing. etrailer is sending out replacements.
Awesome tonneau cover. Great quality! Little bit of damage was noted when delivered. It was packaged well but the delivery service was not gentle or careful with it during shipment.
There are not a great deal of instruction on proper install. A little bit of trial and error and I figured it out. Once properly adjusted and installed the cover fit and locked into place perfectly. Great quality control from Leer. Definitely would give it two thumbs up and suggest this cover.
I would spend the extra for this cover again to get a secure and well fitting product. Can have peace of mind if traveling and need to lock valuables in the back versus a soft cover, as the spokeswoman in the video for this product mentions.
The installation of this tonneau cover was not as easy as the documentation or video appears. First, I had some minor problems: damaged threads which I had to fix, wings broken on wing nuts, item left in during construction that kept the cover from lying flat, and documentation that was quite confusing on my GMC with pro tailgate. I originally was only going to give this cover 3 stars but due to the great customer service I added another star. Moises Fairchild helped be with the confusing part of the installation and how to remove the extra part left in during construction.
I would purchase again from etrailer.com and Leer in the future.
Service and shipment was great as always. Tonneau is as expected, only issue is it is missing a clamp from manufacturer.
made truck better and not to hard to put on had one clamp missing and i talked to Paula and she took care of it
Tight fit, looks great on my truck. Put on with minimal time and effort.
Great cover, easy to install.
