How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the etrailer Quad Folding Tonneau Cover on our 2022 Toyota Tundra. Now in general, when you're adding the tonneau cover to the back of your vehicle, it's for an extra measure of security. And there are some studies out there to say that you can get additional fuel economy. However, you do pick up better aerodynamics by not having that void in the back of your vehicle. So let's take a closer look at the etrailer cover and see what's special about it. The etrailer cover is actually four panels of UV resistant materials.
The panels, the hard panels are actually a fiberglass composite that's put together, that's designed to not only give you a nice finish and not fade, but it will support up to 200 pounds evenly distributed. And you can release your cover using this latch and it's the same on both sides, and it allows you to flip your cover up. Now just taking a look at the track itself, it installs on your OEM Toyota tracks using this bracket. And I've seen a few different versions of this that we came up with. And this one is the easiest install I've seen, and it gives you a nice sturdy base.
Something to note, each section is gonna have that same release when you're folding up. And it is a quad panel, but it only folds three of the four panels. When you want to have access to your bed, you can just fasten it in right here and you get a good portion of it. However, if you do need to remove it, I can show you how those clamps clamp underneath to take it out entirely. You're gonna just loosen this knob on both sides, and you have a little bit of hardware back here.
You have a bolt cover, you have a wing nut, and you have another knob. You just untwist those things and the cover comes right off. If you need to remove the tracks, generally you won't have to if you have to take the cover out. You can just leave them right in place and then drop it right back in. What I like most about the installation, you can do it completely by yourself.
If you have another set of hands, it makes it a little easier to handle the cover, but a single person can get this installed. I would say once you're set up, maybe about 20, 30 minutes. So let me show you how to get it done. We're gonna start by putting together the assembly that works with our track and our bed for the five and a half foot model. Essentially what you're gonna need, you're gonna need the clamp, the track bracket adapter, and your bolt. And they go together just like that. Last part of your clamp is your knob and it threads right in the bottom. And then you're just gonna take your black part of your adapter and just slide that into the track. It is kind of tight back there, so it does take a little bit of wiggling, but then you can get it out. And if you kind of pull against it to work it around the bolts inside of your track, you can get it up here to the top. So I'm gonna slide the other two on the track just like that. I found when installing the cover, the caps on your track system right here on the bulkhead will get in the way. So since you're already over here, just go ahead and pop them out. Now, making sure you're paying attention to the orientation of your tracks. You're gonna install the right over here on the passenger side. That has to do with the, you know, orientation right and left is based off of being in the driver's seat. And we're just gonna push that all the way up and you can kind of see that bracket on the end. And you can see how removing the clamp on our track allows the bracket to slide into place. We wanna make sure your track is flush right here at the edge of the tail where the tailgate closes in. And we're gonna slide this into the track. You can see a opening here, and we're gonna work it into the track. We're gonna do that the same way at the other opening at the top here. We're gonna secure it using our five millimeter Allen key and the knob at the bottom of our bracket. So my bolt is just kind of like a set screw, it's gonna hold it in position in the track. And then the knob sets it underneath on the track. So it gives you a nice sturdy base for your cover. And I found that pulling the track up a little bit during this part gives you a little bit of more clearance. The knobs are super tight as far as getting a grip on them, so you kind of have to work with what you can in that space. However, once you get it to seat, it is very sturdy. And we're gonna align this at the top of our bed. Also, wanna make sure your weather stripping is on the outside. And that way it'll keep some of that moisture outside of your bed. Once we have it on top of our tracks, I'm gonna get in the bed and then we'll hook it up with our hardware. Now we're gonna take our bolt that's on the track here. I'm gonna slide it over into our bracket. I'm gonna do the same thing on the other side. Now we're gonna insert our spacer on our bolt and just feed it back through. You wanna make sure you're in the center of the space or otherwise it could shift around when you're on the road. And I'm just gonna lightly tighten it like I did the first one, and then do the same on the other side. Add my wing nut. And now that I installed the other side, we're just gonna cap this thing off. Put our bracket in the track and align it with our threaded hole. And then we're gonna use our Allen key and set the set screw on the track. We should be able to just roll her right out. And the real test, yeah, that sounds solid. So with your truck bed locked, you have some pretty decent security. Overall, the installation is super easy, and the materials are nice and rugged. In general, I am a little bit more critical on etrailer products, just to make sure that it holds up to the quality, and just so you can get an idea of what it's really like to touch it before you make that purchasing decision. So this is Ed with etrailer.com, taking a look at the etrailer Quad Hard Folding Tonneau Cover on our 2022 Toyota Tundra. Have a great day.

Folding tonneau cover protects your truck bed and secures your cargo. Folds flat to provide open truck bed access. Clamp-on installation. Cover sits 1" above bed rails. There are large gaps in both front corner where you can see daylight. The kit included 2 different types of rubber weather stripping, but the instructions didn't show where or how to install it.
Just received and installed in less than an hour. Thanks to the etrailer video, this was simple and all the parts fit perfectly on a 2023 F150. I had a very similar cover on my last truck (Solid Fold 2.0) and after 7 years it was as good as new - but this version has better latching and more robust mounting. It does stand off about an inch (more room underneath than flush mount) though looks great with black bed rails and there's less weatherstripping to get sun baked or damaged. Probably not a cover you're going to want to take off and reinstall all the time though even if you did it's probably less than 10 minutes. Partly because it's not light....maybe 75lbs? BTW that would be a nice callout for etrailer to mention for comparison shopping. Overall, a great cover and when you compare pricing this is a rock-solid option.
The cover came packed really well. The only tool you need is a knife to open it, everything else is included. The written directions were ok but the videos on etrailer give all the information you need. The fit and finish were very good. The other comparable hard covers I considered were more than twice as much. This cover was for my 2024 chevy 2500hd, I have the flex tailgate which opens fine with the cover, but the flex section will not close with the cover down. I was aware there might be an issue with the flex tailgate before I even ordered a cover, but using the full tailgate function causes no issues at all. I did use the included butyl tape to "fill" a couple gaps at the front of the bed, where the front weatherstrip doesn't quite extend far enough to close it off. This would be the only design flaw that would be an easy fix if they made the weatherstrip longer and allowed you to trim to fit. Time will tell how water tight it is, but i can't see any daylight between the cover and the bed. I would definitely recommend this cover for anyone wanting more security than a soft cover yet not wanting to spend over 1K for some of the high end hard covers on the market.
The cover was delivered in just a couple of days. The instructions were clear with the exception of what the piece of rubber seal and the roll of seal was to be used for. The cover looks good and works as described. I had my truck in a hard rain and the bed was 99.9% dry. Nice so far. Time will tell though.
I love the price point and love the look and feel. For me it definitely compares to some of the bigger brands. I have one complaint, the locking mechanism feels flimsy and I feel like it should be metal. When I try locking the corners in place I have to have both corners pushed down at the same time for it to go flush. I'm still satisfied with the cover especially the price point.
The cover could use a couple more latches at the folds to help it lay flatter.
Great customer service and the products (truck bed liner and cover) fit perfectly.
Installation went well. We will be on vacation later this week and will know more on operations.
This is my first tonneau cover. It took less than an hour to install on my F-150. It fits perfectly and works great. Highly recommended.
Just unloaded the truck. Even went down a white dirt road this past week drove through the rain this morning. Bed is perfectly clean n dry on the inside.
Simply assembling. Even though there are gaps in the front, it is to be highly recommended.
Just installed it in less than an hour. Love the fit!
The cover leaks water in the folds. I may return it if I can’t fix it
