Video Transcript for Leer Latitude Folding Soft Tonneau Cover Installation - 2022 Ram 2500

Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at, showing you how to install this Leer Latitude soft tri-fold tonneau cover on our 2022 Ram 2500. You might wanna use a tonneau cover like this, first of all just to protect the things in the bed of your truck from the elements like rain and snow. Additionally, it's out of sight, so if somebody wants to just come in and take your tools or anything that you're storing out of your bed out of here it's gonna be a lot harder for them to do it. It is still a soft cover on the top so if they have something that they want to rip through it with, they can but it's gonna take a lot more time and effort. Additionally, if you're driving it for long trips you get a little bit better fuel economy out of it as well.

So there's a handful of benefits. The cover itself is made of a double coated vinyl which will hold up pretty well to weather and UV rays. The cover itself is also self tensioning so once you fit it in it keeps itself secure while it's driving. If you want to access the things in your bed while the cover's on, we'll show you how to do that starting just by releasing the tailgate. If you release these clamps you can do this from either side.

The cover will release and we can fold it up. If you just need something from the front you can leave it here or it goes back one more time so you get 2/3 of your bed to access and we'll end up closing it up with those buckles there at the front. With the cover folded up, they line up really well. So all you have to do is snap into place and as long as these are secured and your clamps in the bottom are also secured, you can actually drive with it in this position. One of the benefits of the cover being stored in this position is that as you can see, you have full visibility out of your rear windshield so some of the other folding tonneau covers will end up blocking most of that.

Some of the ones that roll cover up at least half of it. So this one's nice again 'cause you do get that full visibility. One thing you might be concerned about if you're using a tonneau cover is if you will still have room for your fifth wheel. So if we measure from the bottom of our cover to where our bed sits, we do have a liner in here so your measurement might be a little bit different. We come up with about 20 1/2" to the bottom of the cover.

One thing I do like about this cover is that it's pretty easy to put up store back down compared to maybe some of your rolling tonneau covers that are soft. Those you actually have to like walk the whole time to make sure that they fit in the hook and loop. So again, that's another nice benefit of this cover. Overall, the installation of the cover was pretty straightforward. There's just a few clamps that we need to get set down so you can check out how we did that now. To start, we'd just like to make sure that we have everything we need. So right here, these two are your front twist knob clamps. You have your two rear assembly clamps right here you have a 2.5 millimeter and a five millimeter Allen wrench and you have the cover which we'll start by putting on the bulkhead. We'll start by placing this weather strip side on the bulkhead, doing our best to line it up as we can. As you can see, this strip here on the back we wanna make sure that it's pulled out and laying flush with the back so we keep any rain or snow that we don't want out of our bed. Once we have the front half lined up roughly where we need it to go, we'll unfold the rest of the cover and do our best to lined up down there as well. It's our first time opening this cover, so this is protective foam inside. We'll just get that out of the way. Continue to fold it down and from here, again, we'll do our best to just line it up, making sure that we have complete coverage of our bed. We have the cover roughly lined up where we need it to go. So carefully folding it back to make sure it doesn't shift. We'll do that and then the next step is to get our front clamps on, so we'll grab those. To get the front clamps assembled, you'll first fit this top part into one of three places to house it. We found that this closest one is best in our case so you just fit that in there and then you can hand tighten the clamp the rest of the way. Just continue to hand tighten, making sure that the actual clamp itself isn't just behind the rails of the cover or the plastic. You wanna make sure that it's actually behind the metal of the bed and just hand tighten 'til you're content. After we have the front clamps set up, the security clamps as well. Again, making sure that they get behind the actual metal of the bed, not just the plastic to fit those in and hand thread those down as well. Now that we have our front clamps set up, we'll fold the cover down all the way and we'll get our rear clamps installed right now. Now we have the cover completely closed. We'll get our rear clamps installed. You want to line them up with this here on this catch so that the cover closes and locks. So we can fit the clamp again underneath the metal of the bed, secure it in place, and I'll just hand tighten this front one. We'll make sure it's lined up. We're actually just a little bit too far forward, not a big deal. We'll just slide it a couple inches backwards, and now you'll see it latches into place already and we'll tighten everything down. First we start with this flower knob at the bottom. Just tighten it till it's snug. There's no need to over tighten, and we'll make sure that these Allen bolts are also tight. When we close our cover all the way we could see that on the left side we're actually not making contact with the strike plate. That's fine. There is a system in place to adjust to fix that. So we'll do that. We start by loosening both of the set screws on the side that it doesn't fit on. It looks like that. Next step is to slide the whole system over to the left until you make contact with the plate. So if we move it about here I think that's a pretty good hold. So we'll keep that in mind. We'll slide it back over to about where we found it would make contact with the catch. Then we'll tighten both of the set screws back down On this left side. This is the same way we did it before and we'll see if we're fixed now. Now we've adjusted those screws. We'll give it another close. As you can see, it will lock in place. We'll get this tailgate closed up and that's it for the installation of the tonneau cover. Not too terrible. Just a couple of clamps on either side. I will say I don't necessarily love that system where we slide those set screws to get locked into place. It's nice that they're adjustable. I just wish there was a little bit better system for that. But that's it. As far as the Leer Latitude soft tonneau cover goes, I think that it's gonna be a nice fit and a good option for you that's sort of in between your regular roll up style soft cover tonneau covers and the more secure hard covers. If you do want a lot more security and ease of use still, we do have some hard cover options here, but as far as the fit on our 2022 Ram 2500, I think it does a nice job and I think it'll be a good choice.

Perfect fit for my 2023 f150

Overall, I am completely satisfied with the Leer Latitude Soft Tonneau Cover. I went with this cover because it comes from a name I can trust and it was an affordable cover at the time of purchase. It offers enough protection from the elements to suit my needs. It also adds to the sleekness of my 2019 Ford F-150. Most importantly, it keeps wandering eyes from seeing what is in the bed of my truck. It was extremely easy to install and I would absolutely not hesitate to buy this cover again.
