Flat towing your vehicle is much more convenient than using a trailer or a tow dolly. These other options take up much more storage space, leaving you less room both at home and at the campsite. In addition, securing your vehicle to a trailer or tow dolly can be a hassle and more time consuming than hooking up with a tow bar.
There are 5 basic components needed when flat towing a vehicle: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a supplemental braking system.
The tow bar links your towed car to your motorhome. It attaches to the custom-fit base plates that install on the frame of your towed car. Safety cables ensure that your towed car does not separate from your motorhome in the event that your tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring allows your towed vehicle's signal lights to sync up with your motorhome's tail lights, which is required by law in most states. Finally, the supplemental braking system - also required in most states - brakes your towed car when the brakes in your motorhome are activated, preventing wear on the motorhome and decreasing braking distance for your entire setup.

Perfect fit, well built of high quality materials. In my mind you just can't get much better than Blue Ox. The only issue is that the BX1120 doesn't have removable twist lock tabs. The fixed draw bar mounting tabs are at just the right height and position to play havoc with your shins when the draw bar is not installed. I solved that problem with a shin guard I made of 2 inch schedule 40 PVC. (see photo) Fits perfectly, guards the breakaway switch and lighting connector when not in use, and solves the shin interference problem.
I had a simple ball hitch setup for my 1999 Jeep Wrangler for towing behind our RV. Our first trip out with it, the bolts that attached the bar connectors to the front of the Jeep came loose. I was fortunate that they didn't come out completely and cause a major accident. I was able to tighten them again, and we had no additional issues on our trip. Of course, this made me extremely nervous with my 'budget' route to tow the Jeep so I began looking for a better, more reliable solution.
Blue Ox was the name that kept coming up so I purchased the BX1120. The build quality is outstanding, it's extremely solid and very durable. Installation time was about an hour and a half once I had the right tools, couldn't find my 1/2 inch socket set! I'm using the Blue Ox Alpha tow bar with this setup.
I will say that having a second set of hands to install is valuable, my son had to come help me get the drivers side bolts in while I held the steering housing in place.
All in all, I'm very pleased with the product. It went in easy and should save my nerves on our next road trip!

The BX1120 was easy to install on my 1998 Jeep Wrangler. The part fit the Jeep like a glove. The instructions given were easy to follow. I don't own a torque wrench, but lucky for me my neighbor races cars and he had one I was able to borrow.
The BX1120 construction is top-notch, well crafted, and looks nice on my Jeep.
All my questions before my purchase were answered in a timely manner making me feel confident in my purchase.

Arrived very quickly. This item has some weight to it and installed exactly per the instructions. You can hardly see the base plate. I feel that we made a great purchase and the Jeep will travel very safely behind the motorhome!
The product was a perfect fit. There was no problem installing the base plate.
Easy install, comes with everything needed to mount securely. I’ve only towed around 800 miles with it so far, but it performed perfectly with no concerns.
Fit and finish as great. Bolt torque value and grade 8 bolts would have been helpful. Gear to frame 16mm bolts (95 N-m (70 ft. lbs.))

The product is great, there was slight damage to the base plate due to shipping but outside of that it was fine.

Tow bar is phenomenal. It takes about 7 minutes to install it, the safety cables, ambilocal chord, and brake safety cable. Add 3 more minutes for light and brake inspection in the jeep being towed. 10 minutes and you are ready to depart. The combination of the tow bar and vacuum braking system are incredible.
this fit perfectly. Installed really easy. I pulled my jeep around 2,000 miles this year with it with no problems. The hardest this to do is bend the wires the nuts are on to get to where you need them. Following the directions and a friend's help and it can be installed in an hour. Since I offroad my jeep I was worried about losing some approach and I did but not a whole lot.

It fit my 2006 Wrangler LJ perfectly. I have towed over 10,000 miles in the last year using it with zero problems. Also, with a little homework, it leaves room for an aftermarket front bumper. I upgraded the bolts to Grade 8. Probably didn't need to but felt better.

I was extremely impressed with the help I received in selecting this tow bar bracket. When mounted, everything lined up perfectly.

Solid product. Will need a angle 1/2 drive drill for the passenger side frame holes.
It was fairly light on instructions, but also somewhat Murphey proof on it's fit. I did have to drill holes in the frame, wish the vehicle had the existing mount= holes, but a 20 year old vehicle. It was also a challenge to get the nuts on in the blind area of the frame, they did provide the necessary set up and was successful with some extra effort. I think it will work well.
Product was delivered within 4 days. Put base plate on same day wiring the next day. Perfect fit. Stacey was very knowledgeable and helpful. Great job. I will use etrailer for all my accessories and parts.
You have to have a right angle drill to drill two of the holes in the frame. It would have been nice to know that. It is also tricky to fish the bolts though the frame slot with the nuts attached to long bendable wires, to get them in place to hold the bolts. Other than that. It is great.
Fit very well. Had a good time flat towing this past year. Much easier than I thought it would be.
