Designed for use with motor-home-mounted tow bars, the direct-connect brackets are virtually invisible, easy to mount and remove, and they eliminate the need for a quick-disconnect crossbar on your tow bar. Installs on your vehicle's frame.
Features:
Note: Roadmaster direct-connect base plates will only work with Roadmaster tow bars that slide into a trailer hitch, such as the Nighthawk, Sterling, Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon, or Falcon 2. These base plates will not work with tow bars that require a hitch ball.
The drawbars, or front arms, on this base plate kit are supremely easy to mount and remove. Just insert them into the brackets and twist to lock them in place. To remove each arm, simply tug the built-in pull pin to disengage the lock, twist the arm back and pull it out of the bracket. Once the drawbars have been removed, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible. On most automobiles, the brackets are mounted within the grille, where they remain not only unseen, but protected from scrapes and scuffs as well.

Designed for use with motor-home-mounted tow bars, the direct-connect brackets are virtually invisible, easy to mount and remove, and they eliminate the need for a quick-disconnect crossbar on your tow bar. Installs on your vehicle's frame. The biggest aspect of installing these was the need to cut 2.5" x 4" from the existing front bumper mounting plates. It is a necessary step and actually is outlined in the instructions. But the instructions need to indicate that the steel plate is 3/16" thick. So unless your workshop has metal fab tools, you will have a very tough time cutting this metal from the front bumper mounting plate. Also, the need to enlarge a 7/16" hole to 9/16" in the frame has a similar story. You need a 9/16" carbide tip drill bit or a carbide reaming tool. This size drill bit (in carbide) is somewhat unique for a DIY guy. ANd even a heavy duty carbide reamer is not a common tool. So while I know the instructions say "Please consider professional installation", the instructions really should indicate you're going to be cutting hardened steel so you can decide if you have the right tools or can have them in hand prior to starting this project. Overall, the base plate kit will be a good solution for flat towing and is well-built with a solid mounting. But it takes a bit to install it in terms of proper tools.
I had roadmaster design and build my 1st base plates for my 2021 bronco, this set was very easy to install and did not take, just myself, about a half day to instlall.I really like this set.
Very good service from trailer! Kimberly O was outstanding with her knowledge about products. The Roadmaster base plate was expertly made. There were a few minor deviations from the Roadmaster instructions which were clarified with a call to Roadmaster tech help.
Very easy to install. Drop the skid plate, take off the tow hooks, install the tow brackets. The bolts are a little tricky, have patience! About a 2hr job. Not cutting of anything.
Looks great and was relatively easy to install. From beginning to end about 5 hours but I did do it by myself so this slowed me down a bit.
