2004 Acura TL - Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit

  • Diode Kit
  • Splices into Vehicle Wiring
  • Universal
  • Tail Light Mount
  • Roadmaster

Diode kit allows you to use your Acura TL's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback from your RV. Wires 2-wire and 3-wire systems to operate as a combined lighting systems. Includes 7-wire to 6-wire Flexo-Coil electrical cord.

Features:

  • Lets you wire your vehicle to accept your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights for flat towing
  • Wires towed car as combined system so that brake and turn signals travel along same wire
  • Prevents electrical feedback and the damage it can cause to your vehicle's electrical components
  • Diodes powder coated aluminum case is corrosion resistant and provides protection from the elements
  • Brake light relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) may be required if used with supplemental braking system
  • Flexo-Coil cord is resitant to water, oil, chemicals, and has silicone-injected plugs to prevent corrosion
  • Center pin on 6-Way plug wired to 12V power, there are two industry standards
  • Includes:
    • 4 Hy-Power diodes - 27' long
    • 4-Wire harness
    • Wire connectors
    • Cable ties
    • 1 Ring terminal
    • 3' Long plastic loom
    • 8' Coiled cord
    • Vehicle mounting bracket
    • Socket
  • Made in the USA
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

Specs:

  • Diode Max amperage: 85 amps
  • Diode Max voltage: 24 volts
  • Coiled cord max length: 8'
  • Coiled cord retracted length: 15"

Note: For applications that have separate lighting, this kit will cause your brake lights to function as both brake and turn signal lights. A wiring converter (118158 - sold separately) and 2 additional diodes (RM-792) will be needed if you want to retain separate turn and brake signals.

Separate vs. Combined Lighting Systems

Some automobiles operate on a 3-wire system, wherein the brake signal and the turn signals travel along different wires to illuminate different lights. (Typically, these vehicles have amber turn signals.) This is referred to as a "separate lighting system". When you hook up for flat towing using this kit, your towed car's lighting system will operate in a combined fashion regardless of whether it typically has combined or separate lighting. This means that the brake and turn signals sent by your RV to your towed car will be carried on a single wire. As a result, your car's brake lights will do the flashing for the turn signals. Your vehicle will still function as designed when not hooked up to your RV.

Do You Need a Brake Light Relay?

Because this kit wires your vehicle as a combined system, a brake light relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) may be required if you use a supplemental braking system with your towing setup. A supplemental braking system depresses the brake pedal in your towed car every time you apply the brakes in your RV. So, if your towed car's brake lights illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed and the engine is off - as is the case when towing - then you need to install a relay to ensure that the lights on your towed car always act in accordance with the signals sent by your RV via the wiring harness. Without a relay, the brake signal from your towed car will override the turn signal sent by your RV when you slow down to make turns, creating a potential hazard.

2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

First off, I am NOT a mechanic and I especially HATE auto electrical projects. However, I wanted to wire my Jeep to tow behind my motorhome so I ordered the Roadmaster Diode 7 wire to 6 wire wiring kit (RM 15267). While I think it took me longer to install than those with experience, I am happy to say I got it hooked up and working on my first try! The videos that came on my email confirmation were GREAT and really helped my experience. Thanks so much everyone at etrailer for helping make my project successful!

Roadmaster

This roadmaster tow bar has been one of the best. The lights on the side of the tow bar are bright and very helpful to other motorist on the roadway for visibility. It is durable and heavy duty. Very pleased.

by:

Installation was straight forward and took a couple hours. Items work very well, and are still in very good shape.
Have purchased many items from etrailer over the years, and they are always high quality. Customer service is very good whenever I have a question. Their installation videos are some of the best around.

by:

Outstanding product and even better customer service! Two backyard mechanics installed baseplate and braking system with just one call to confirm proper wire connection. Total package works great.

by:

The install was fairly straightforward and took maybe 5 hours. If you are used to auto work and removing body panels you can probably cut that time in half. Also, make sure you have good drill bits to get through the frame! No problems at all with the base plate after installation.

Dodge Dakota

My experience with etrailer was good from the perspective of the cooperation and pleasantness. However, even though I was clear on the tow bar I had (Blue Ox) and the vehicle I was towing (2005 Dodge Dakota) when the tow package came and the shop I had installing it got to the end of the installation, it was discovered that the wrong pins were sent, i.e. they wouldn't lock in place - too short . At first we couldn't determine what the problem was, so I called etrailer back. Was told those were the correct pins. Finally called Blue Ox directly and the rep immediately told me (after I gave him the PN) that those were the wrong pins. Without me asking he offered and did send two replacement pins free of charge. They worked perfectly.

by:

Product performing well, great customer service and installation videos

by:

Works as expected. I hook up and check lights and it works after numerous hook ups

Comments
Works good. Has one isse with water getting into crimp connectors. I recrimped connectors and added shrink tube and works great.

I installed the kit. Didn't have many problems. It is a really stout setup. I am very pleased with the kit and very good instructions.

by:
2012 Ford Edge

I ordered this kit to get me a heavy duty coiled cable with room to use one input as a dedicated power supply from the bus to then be sent to the towed battery to keep it charged going down the road.
the diodes i chose not to use, as i have a hopkins plug and play kit on the way, that will marry up the 6 pin fitting
I just needed the cable with the 7 to 6 adapters, it was the best price for the need :)

2012 Jeep Wrangler

I installed this on my 2012 Jeep Wrangler. This setup has been perfect for my Toad. No issues and easy to install.

by:

Appeared to be a great kit but it turned out that I did not need it. I never had to use it so I cannot comment about how well it worked. The instructions were clear.

by:

Timely delivery an instructions were accurate and specific for ny vehicle

by:

Not easy to mount the receptacle on the 2021 Jeep Gladiator bumper. Need some long stainless threaded rod and ss nylock nuts.

by:

I had the system installed at a local shop. Simple to plugin and go, and works great.

by:
2016 Entegra Coach Aspire Motorhome

The wiring kit was mostly OK. They claimed the wiring supplied was 27' long, however, what I received wasn't even 20' long. I had to made a splice on all wiring leads near the front of the bumper. The diodes and rest of the kit worked as described. Upon testing, there were no issues when hooked up to my rig. I also added the brake light relay and wired it through the supplied harness as well.

Comments
I reached out to Roadmaster and they confirmed the wiring with the kit is 27 feet long.

Jeep

We have towed our Jeep almost 2,000 miles since installing the recommended parts from etrailer and it has worked perfectly on every connect and disconnect along the way. Tows beautifully, even at 70 mph.

Excellent customer service and helpful videos from these folks. Would recommend to anyone needing help with parts and guidance in towing their toad to give them a call.

Comments
Our system is still working perfectly a year later. Our Jeep is a 2018 Cherokee Trailhawk and while we’ve seen some RV forums talk about “death wobble”, we have never experienced this using these Roadmaster products towbar & baseplate. We tow the Jeep with our 39’ Class A gasser and hardly know its back there. Even on sharp corners the Jeep follows perfectly and no binding. Connecting or disconnecting takes maybe 5 – 7 minutes. Then check all of our lights, make sure the Jeep is in neutral wbrakes off and we’re on our way. The braking system that we installed purchased from etrailer is the “Stay-n-Play Duo”. I would recommend that to anyone looking for easy operation. The installation time was a bit lengthy and involved but once completed makes all of your towing trips much easier. Just the flip of a switch and the braking system is ready for towing. No portable unit to lug around and adjust each time you tow your vehicle. The etrailer folks made the perfect recommendations for our needs and everything has worked GREAT!

Honda

These were exactly what I needed. I changed tow vehicles to a Honda HRV (manual) and the only base plate available was the Roadmaster. These adapters took about 10 minutes to change my Blue Ox tow bar to accept the Roadmaster.

by:

Easy and fun to install.

by:

Simple I installed myself just a little tight on factory wiring harness

by:

The wiring kit was installed on a 2020 Jeep JL Sport S. I really appreciate the ordering process and quick shipping of etrailer. The Roadmaster 7-6 wire cable is heavy duty and the coiled design keeps it from dragging on the ground. On the etrailer website there is there is a Q&A segment that has a flowchart to see if you need a brake light relay kit. It states that if you get a brake light with the ignition off you need the kit. I finally learned that the Jeep JL goes to sleep about 5 minutes after the ignition is turned off- so you do not have to use a brake light kit on the Jeep JL.

Comments
We pulled the Jeep several times this year. Installing and removing the cabling was quick and easy. The wiring kit worked well with the brake lights and turn signals working like they should. Installation was made easier after watching the videos

by:

The wiring kit was perfect and everything you need is there. I would have rated it a five, except that the multi-colored length of wire that comes with the kit was just barely--and I mean just barely--long enough for my application. If I had cut the ends even a quarter-of-an-inch shorter I would not have had enough wire to complete the job without splicing additional wire in. My only complaint is that the length of wire that comes in the kit is for small or short cars only. This is the second wiring kit that I bought. The first one was a coupe of years ago and was for a Ford F-150 pickup. In that application the wire was not long enough to run from the front of the pickup to the rear and I had to splice extra wire in to make it work. As long as you know that up front, then the rest of the wiring kit works great and the directions are very good.

Comments
No problems after one year. The contact points are not corroded and everything works great.

This was horrible. I called multiple time, and sent emails to try and get a refund for a wiring kit I never received. Never got a response

  • Will Roadmaster Wiring Kit 15267 Provide 12 Volts to 6 Way of 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Ok, I believe I know what you are saying because the instructions from the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 for your 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee make it seem like you may need to switch wires to get pins to match up, but that is not the case. The 12 volt circuit from the 7-way is wired to the center pin of the 6-way on the wiring kit, so you do not need to move any wires, it will work. The reason it is like this is because on vehicle side 6 ways, the center...

What we have found when there is an issue with running lights but not other lights when installing the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 is that the problem is almost always due to an issue with the diodes. So if the wires are not properly routed with the diodes, or there is an issue where a wire was somehow crimped or damaged then the running lights would not work.
