Hey everybody, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're going to take a quick look at the Blue Ox tow bar wiring kit. This is going to be a basic kit to get that wiring function for flat towing your vehicle behind your RV. It allows you to transfer the lighting signal from your RV, into your vehicle. So, you'll have your running lights, tail lights, and your brake light signal going into your towed vehicle, so the drivers can see what's going on whenever you're making those signals, and it's going to keep you safe and compliant, while you're out on the road, flat towing with your vehicle. The nice thing about this kit, is that it is custom fit, so you're not changing anything about your vehicle's wiring. You're not cutting or splicing into anything.
This is just going to work with factory plugs, plug and play application. Should be pretty straightforward to get installed. You also don't have to worry about putting in individual diodes, which can be really cumbersome for other permit mount kits. That's something that I really like about this as well, is that it's pretty easy to get installed, and should make a great addition to your flat tow set up. So, let's take a little closer look, and talk about what this fits. So, we have our diodes here.
This is the brains of the operation. This is going to be what separates our vehicle, or isolates it from our RV's wiring. We don't have to worry about any back feed going from one end to other. We'll have our four-pole connection to go at the front of our vehicle. Now this, you might need to end up cutting off.
This is a basic wiring function, or a basic wire set up. Some RVs will still use the four-pole, but a lot have moved on to a seven pole. So, what you'll do is cut off this end, save the white wire, and then plug it up, or wire it into a seven pole plug, or whatever matches your RV. It might be something else like a six pole, or a five pole. You can find all kinds of accessories, and different plugs here at etrailer.com, if you need to go that route. Should be a good length of wire to go for your vehicle.
We'll have our two wiring plugs that are going to just run right in line with our taillight wiring. One goes on the driver's side, the other one goes on the passenger side and this kit is a custom fit for the 2020 through the current Jeep Gladiator, and the 2018, through the current Jeep Wrangler. That's with, or without the tow package, so it's just going to match right in line with those plugs, and plug right in.We do get some hardware to go with this. We'll have some zip ties, we can cinch up all our wires, make sure that there's nothing hanging down. Everything's anchored off nice and neat. We want to make sure any wire that's going to be going underneath the vehicle, you keep it away from anything hot, like your exhaust, or anything moving, like your suspension, and anchored off in several places, so there's no excess dragging. We'll get some dielectric grease, always a good idea to put those that on any of your connectors. Just needs a little dab, and we'll also get a dust cap and a bracket for that four-pole, if you do end up using it, and also some mounting hardware for that bracket. So, that's pretty much all that comes in the kit. It is made in the USA, and that's pretty much all we have to look at with this video.I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right part for you. As well, you want to look at our website here at etrailer.com for any other accessories for your flat tow set up, since this is just one of the main components for a complete flat tow setup. You'll also want to get your tow bar, base plate, and your safety chains, if you don't already have them included with the tow bar, and also a supplemental braking system. You can find all of those accessories and more right here at etrailer.com, along with a lot of other content, to make sure that you can get it installed, and get everything right the first time. So, check it out. Thanks for watching.

Connect your towed vehicle's lighting system to your RV's to get the brake lights required for towing.etrailer products have always been a "Go to" for me. Between my jeep, RV, and boats that I've owned, etrailer has never disappointed! The wiring kit and base plate I ordered was received ahead of estimated shipping date. Everything was accounted for and packaged well! I still have yet to install the items, but doubt I will have issues as detailed instructions were provided. I would recommend etrailer to anyone!
The wiring harness worked perfectly for the 2022 Jeep Gladiator Sport, and plugged right into the Brakebuddy Stealth harness at the front connectors. The wire harness was run the length of the vehicle through the inside of the frame, fully protecting it and making for a clean installation. Watching a couple of videos on installing these helped a lot.
It's the perfect choice for when u don't want to splice into ur vehicles wiring. I installed it on a 22 jeep wrangler and it was fairly easy, the tricky part fishing the wires thru the frame. Overall a great product
I think that Blue Ox and/or etrailer has/have done an excellent job of down sizing and simplifying this kit. Hopefully, idiot proof.
No brainer to install and works perfectly on each tow hookup.

Excellent from the first hookup to our last. Simply a pleasure to use
Really liked not having to splice into any of the factory wiring, just clipped right into the factory plugs. I also added a plug-and-play trailer hitch wiring harness and both played together nicely. No double-sided tape was included so I zip-tied everything to the fuel filler neck behind the light. Plenty of room.
I spent a lot of time routing the wires to hide them and look nice. I covered everything in plastic wire loom and ran them up the drivers frame rail, up over the wheel well tied to existing wiring on the fender, then back down to the front of the jeep. I changed the plug from the flat 4 to a round 6 plug.
I believe the installation could take you 2 hours or 6 hours depending on how much effort you put into the wire routing. Everything just worked in the end.
Take your time routing wires. Taking bumper off make it easier touring wires in back for taillights. Go over fender rail and run wires thru frame using a fish tape up to engine compartment. Love the plug and play for this set. No splicing into factory wiring.
The products are of high quality and easy to use. (I'm 68 female, first-timer, and was able to connect and disconnect my Jeep to my RV.) I called with one question and someone answered and helped me. Friendly people and super helpful. One incorrect part came and the team replaced it quickly and efficiently.
I’ve used a similar Hopkins kit in the past and after purchasing a new Jeep Wrangler I looked to etrailer to get the proper Hopkins kit. I’ll be installing this light kit myself as I did on my old Jeep. Jeep makes it so easy on the new Wranglers with plugs in the firewall and access to the taillights.
Thanks etrailer!
Easy install. Plug and play!
I'm a little concerned about the plug and play lite wire kit I ordered for a 2022 ranger pickup the kit says for a jeep gladiator and other jeeps but nothing about fitting a ranger I tried to talk with someone about this before ordering it the person involved with wireing was unavailable hope this fits
This wiring kit works like a charm on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler. It was easy to install and has held up well the first year. Only had to remove the rear tailight assembly. Highly recommended!
The installation was very easy. The parts arrived on time and no issues with the fitment.
Never having to flat tow a vehicle presented a problem for me to get it set up properly. I was thoughtfully guided through the purchase of the tow hitch, wiring, tow bar connection and safety required in installation. Great service!
No tie wraps, no double side tape and no dielectric grease
Works as it should. No problems.
Best company ever

Great
Doesn't fit my application, looked up the part for my vehicle, website said it fit, now I have to pay 22.00 to return it and order another one, not happy about it. My suggestion to others, call Etrailer to confirm vehicle fit before placing order, save some time, money and aggravation
I am sure the item is good, but it was supposed to be for my Buick enclave and the sales person verified everything but this is for a jeep Cherokee. Must return.
Worked great for a year. Now I’m having problems with the signal lights not working. I plan on taking the unit apart at the rear lights and cleaning and retighten the adapters
Part came in in timely fashion. Happy with the product and the installation support. In all , very happy . Thanks
The wiring kit performed as advertised.
This is second wiring harness purchased from Etrailer. They work perfectly on our Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler 4XE!
The powder coating on the Blue Ox Base plate came off upon the firt time I inserted the pins to tow it.
Was supposed to be a plug and play kit. Was the wrong type of plug for the year and model purchased. Was supposed to leave on a trip in a few days after it arrived and tried to make it work but it didn’t work at all. Very disappointed
