This kit did the job very well. I could have bought each part separately and saved some money, but I went with the comfort knowing all these parts will work together to accomplish the job. I couldn't figure what LED bulb to use for both brake and turn signal. I routed the wire along the truck wiring harness for half the way to the front, then slipped it into the frame channel for the rest of the way. I used a Curt heavy, round 4 pin plug at the front grill. It was a bit of work and took many hours but came out clean!

We took the toad on a 4200 mile trip out West and back. The lights worked perfectly and look nice and bright too!

@DiyB That's great to hear!

I installed this on our 2019 Equinox towed. Love the convenience of just plugging in the towed vehicle. The most difficult part was deciding on what part of the light housing to drill the hole for the light socket.

Loved the product, easy to install and have showed off many times while we wintered in Texas. I would have loved to take the credit for idea but was happy to let them know where I bought from.

No issues. Still looking like it’s newly installed

Great product. Bulbs were a bit bigger than I had expected but they worked fine.

We had one bulb quit working after a few weeks. I called Roadmaster after diagnosing it and since it was so soon after install they sent a replacement. We were on the road when I noticed it failed I stuck an old 1157 bulb in so I was legal. Being a retired mechanic, I know that a certain percentage of new parts are defective and what makes the difference is how the comapny stands behind their products. I couldnt be more impressed with both eTrailer and Roadmaster. It was also nice that the temporary fix so I could continue my trip was easy and inexpensive. After replacing the bulb the upgrade has continued to work without a problem.

I wanted a tail light system that would operate off of my motorhome, but didn't tie into my towed vehicles wiring. This kit did the trick! Led bulbs are super bright! Kit has everything you need for a smooth install.

Still working great. Nice bright lights

Kia

I have had these lights installed for over a year. I tow a Kia Nero on a tow dolly with my motorhome. Even though the dolly has tail lights, I wanted my car to have tail and brake lights as well. I installed these lights inside the Kia taillight assembly and spliced them into the dolly wiring harness. The lights work great, very bright. The hardest part was figuring out how to install them inside the taillight assembly since they were not made for the Nero. There was no Nero kit available.

by:

The kit should have come with a means to land the wires at the front of the 'toad'. A male connector at the very least.
I should have done more research as the same kit is available in several places for $[XX] as compared to the $[XXX]charged by etrailer.

2019 GMC Canyon

I purchased this taillight option because didn't want to go to the expense of the wiring kit with the diodes, etc. Since I have to disconnect the battery in this vehicle for towing, I needed to use the power from the motorhome trailer plug. I followed the directions and video and the kit was installed as they depicted and it works great. The LED lights are very bright and light up the top half of the taillight assemble which is more than ample.

2014 GMC Sierra

Installed LED tail light wiring kit (Brake, Tail & Signal) in 2014 GMC Sierra taillights. For towing behind motor home. LED lights are brighter than incandescent. Installation instructions easy to follow.

by:

I bought this item from etrailer and they installed it free at their business. It has worked well. Altho, only one problem. I hooked up today to the motor home, and the turn signal portion on the right side did not work. I am sure it is only a wiring problem. Plan to check it soon. But, would still buy it again. etrailer is a great group of people to work with.

GMC Yukon

Easy install just like the tutorial video showed!

I used a step drill from Harbor freight. Allow the bit to do the cutting and it didn't crack my housing.

The hardest part was deciding how to route my cables. Came with enough wire to mount in my GMC Yukon.

by:

The roadmaster tail light kit is an easy DIY kit that comes with all I needed for install on 2012 Chev Colorado . The hardest part was trying to crawl under the truck to run the wires. The lights are seperate from the Colorado and are very bright.

Sweet trouble free kit, Wiring too short for a long bed pickup. Soldered and added a 3 extension & works great. Troublefree.

Very happy with the with the LED Bulb and socket set. A great install job by etrailer, and without messing with the towed vehicles wiring system. Wish this had been around years ago! Stellar,a five star product

2005 Mini Cooper

I bought separate LED lights for the brakes light and turn signals of the towed car. I also have a braking system attached to the car that will press on the brake of the car. Question - will the car brake light and the led brake light both come on at the same time and is this a problem.?

Thanks for your help

by:

These lights are BRIGHT! Easy install. I needed about 10 more feet of 4-strand wire, however. Ended up having to splice some together.

Tail light LED sockets are bright but leak water and condensation in my tail light assembly.

by:

looks well made will try to install it tommorrow, I like the LED bulbs =, only wish Roadmaster would have included a 4 pole pagtail to plug the finished install into my motorhome. I will need to visit a autp parts store tommorrow for that piece.

by:
2014 GMC Sierra

Installation was straight forward, and in my situation easy. I have used every system on the market and this system is by far the best if it will fit in your lens. I installed it on a 2014 GMC Sierra which requires the ground cable to be removed when towing, so in my case grounding to the truck was useless - just use the ground from the tow vehicle. Also a 7/8 hole saw works better than the 1" that is called far.

by:

So glad I got this kit! Running the wires from front to back was the hardest part. I really liked not splicing into my existing factory lighting wiring.

by:
2018 Chevrolet Malibu

This product had a great etrailer installation video specifically for my car. the only problem was that there was not enough wire! I had to go to O'Reilly's to buy more wire.

by:
2018 Chevrolet Spark

I have always had great customer service with etrailer. Spent a lot of money. I bought the complete towing package for my 2018 Chevy Spark. Everything looks great.

by:

Easy to install and no exposed wiring. Make sure you have room in the back of your tail lights for the socket assembly - I should have checked first because I had not a lot of room to work with but in the end they fit just fine.

  • Roadmaster Bulb And Socket Tail Light Wiring Kit Functionality
If you're wanting to install a bulb and socket kit like the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-152-LED to bypass your vehicle's wiring you could. The bulbs in this kit are designed to be placed in your tail light housing next to your vehicle's bulbs and the wiring run to the 6-wire port at the front of your vehicle to connect to your RV with. If you're meaning that you want to replace the bulbs in your vehicle then no, you would not be able to use the # RM-152-LED...

  • Will Roadmaster LED Tail Light Bulb and Socket Wiring Kit Work with Incandescent Bulbs on an RV
Yes, but, your RV likely has a trailer connector on it already and that connector is not tied into the RV tail light wiring so it would not affect Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - LED Bulb and Socket - Red Item # RM-152-LED. Even if the RV did have a connector that was spliced into the tail light wiring on the RV this kit would still work for you! The 1" hole for the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit # RM-152-LED isn't actually very specific. Just as long as you have enough room for the LED bulb. I wish I could be a little more specific but we have never installed this kit on a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 ourselves (as of Sept 2018) so we don't have an exact video to reference and the installation instructions are very generic. • What Color Are the LEDs That Come With the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles
The Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles part # RM-152-LED comes with red LEDs which are needed because with LEDs you must use a bulb color that matches that of the tail light housing in order to get a true color.
