Fast, Easy Hookup

This Roadmaster tow bar has a large hookup radius to ensure simple, secure hookup. What this means is that, even if your towed car is not perfectly aligned with your RV, you will still be able to make the necessary connections. To achieve this, the BlackHawk 2 has stainless steel, telescopic inner arms that adjust independently. In addition, these arms are able to pivot in and out, changing the spread. So, if your car is angled a bit behind your RV, you'll still be able to hook up by bringing the arms closer together and staggering the length so that 1 arm is longer than the other, allowing it to reach the more distant base plate.

The fact that the arms are extra-long also allows for a better turning radius. By putting more distance between your motorhome and your towed car, your entire setup will become easier to maneuver so that your towed car will track behind your motorhome without running the risk of hitting your RV during turns.

When using EZ, EZ2, EZ4, XL, or Classic base plates, quick-disconnects make it a snap to attach the tow bar to your vehicle. Other methods require you to maneuver each tow bar arm individually and perfectly line up tabs on the arms with tabs on your base plates. Roadmaster's unique design lets you connect and disconnect the tow bar quickly and easily, all by yourself.

The quick-disconnect brackets come in separate pieces. The pieces that are positioned on the ends of each tow bar arm interlock with matching brackets that attach to your Roadmaster base plates. Sandwiched between the tow bar arms is a sturdy crossbar that essentially turns the arms into a single structure. This crossbar allows you to lower the tow bar as a single piece onto the quick-disconnect brackets on your towed car so that you don't have to connect each arm separately. When lowering the tow bar onto the brackets, make sure that the tab on each bracket lines up with the hole in the matching bracket. Then just insert the linch pins through the holes in the tabs on top to secure the brackets together. To remove the tow bar, simply remove the pins and lift the tow bar off of the brackets. These convenient brackets also make it simple to mount any number of Roadmaster accessories, from basic safety cables to the Guardian rock shield.

If you have MS, MX, or EZ5 base plates, the arms will connect directly to the base plates. Just remove the quick-disconnect brackets from the ends of the arms and you will be left with lugs that fit into the base plate brackets. Once the lugs are set inside of the brackets, simply insert the included pins to secure them in place.

Non-Binding for Simple Disconnect

Freedom Latch

The Freedom Latch makes disconnecting this tow bar a breeze. This latch makes it easy to release the tension that can build up in a telescoping arm when the RV and towed car are not perfectly lined up. Just flip the latch to release the pressure, and the arms will be able to telescope freely, making it easy to disconnect the tow bar from the base plates. This allows you to disconnect even when you're at a hard angle or out of level.

Superior Testing Ensures Excellent Quality

FEA test

This BlackHawk 2 All-Terrain tow bar has been subjected to rigorous physical and computerized testing to ensure that it meets Roadmaster's exceptionally high standards. Throughout the design process, Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA) is done. Each of these tests display a 3-dimensional image of the tow bar while it is put under thousands of pounds of pressure. Areas of stress in the tow bar can then be located and studied so that those areas can be strengthened. This process is repeated until any weak spots, particularly those found in load-bearing components, are completely removed. The result is a durable, strong, and safe product.

Simple, Secure Storage

Storage LatchStored on RV

The BlackHawk 2 All Terrain can easily be folded up and stored on the back of your RV when not in use. After disconnecting the tow bar from your towed vehicle, push the arms of the tow bar together so that they are side by side. Fold the tow bar up toward the RV and the storage latch will automatically lock it in place.

Guide to Flat Towing

Flat towing your vehicle is much more convenient than using a trailer or a tow dolly. These other options take up much more storage space, leaving you less room both at home and at the campsite. In addition, securing your vehicle to a trailer or tow dolly can be a hassle and more time consuming than hooking up with a tow bar.

There are 5 basic components needed when flat towing a vehicle: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a supplemental braking system.

FlatTowing Components

The tow bar links your towed car to your motorhome. It attaches to the custom-fit base plates that install on the frame of your towed car. Safety cables ensure that your towed car does not separate from your motorhome in the event that your tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring allows your towed vehicle's signal lights to sync up with your motorhome's tail lights, which is required by law in most states. Finally, the supplemental braking system - also required in most states - brakes your towed car when the brakes in your motorhome are activated, preventing wear on the motorhome and decreasing braking distance for your entire setup.

Towing a Wrangler 4 door behind my motorhome, have gone 20K miles now and no issues, i am not using the cross bar as my vehicle mount does not require that. Due to the road dust and everything it gets quite dirty of course. It has been working well along, easy enough to connect. If you have to disconnect on a hill it gets a bit tricky to unlatch and such, but just takes practice.

A year later it is still all good, getting dirty is all. Mechanism and joints still function well.

The tow bar and shipping are very good. The bar works like it is suppose to, hooks up easy and unhooks easy and pulls my 1/2 ton PU great!! Road Master makes great products

1 year later and the tow bow is still working great !!!

Tows well. Problem is with the electrical. Sometimes toad lights work, sometimes not. Have had two independent RV shops attempt to make light work on a consistent basis. Still trying

- RM-422

Heavy Duty and just as expected, I have not used it yet as my motorhome has not been delivered. My etrailer representative Joshua was VERY helpful.

No issues after 7K miles Towing a 12 Ram

I like this tow bar having replaced it with a lighter version of a Roadmaster falcon all terrain that came with the coach when I bought it. But neither one really releases as well as I wish that they did. There is a learning curve to it I guess but I've been using this for a year now and still have trouble with binding sometimes I have to use a hammer and punch to get it released from my vehicle. Still I do like it it tows my Jeep Grand Cherokee without a problem. Recently a friend of mine had his pickup truck come off of this hitch and slam into the back of his foretravel nimbus causing extensive damage, so a good towbar is essential. I like Roadmaster products. I wouldn't say they're the best just that I like them.

- RM-422

Good product with good pricing. Does not come with a cover. Also you need to purchase safety cables separately.

- RM-422

Appears well constructed, do not anticipate any issues. Have not towed with it at this time. Completely satisfied with value for the product.

Roadmaster BlackHawk looks like it is very well made. This is a replacement foe a Roadmaster Sterling that I had for over 10 years. I was going to rebuild it, however after reading different comments that the life of the tow bar is 8 to 10 years, I decided to replace the tow bar instead of rebuilding it. The sterling tow bar was rated at 6k while this new tow bar is rated at 10k. I hope this new tow bar will last another 10 years. Etrailer service was great and fast. Receive the new tow bar in just 2 days. Have not used it yet, but real soon I hope. I will be flat towing a Jeep Wranger or a Ford F-150. I am sure this tow bar can handle these toads. Thanks again etrailer for providing great service at the best cost. I did fine the tow bar at a lower price and they provided their 110% match.

- RM-422

Pulled entire length of route 66 and then some. We had absolutely no issues with all of our etrailer equipment. Thanks for all of your help.

- RM-422

Easy to install and easy to use. Being newbies to the motor coach world, this tow bar is made for ease of hookup. It took less than five minutes to unhook and hook up. Love it! We did not use the base plate that came with it but chose to add the direct connect base plate with removable arms (RM-521424-5) This combination made it excellent to use!

WE have only used the tow bar a couple times but have to say it is REALLY easy to hookup! Takes less than five minutes to get our Jeeep attached. Love it!

Excellent product, heavy duty and well built. So well built it has a cross-bar system in it that wasn't required for my recommended base plate. Seems to be a lot of extra money for something that can not be used with the products recommended.

Still works great. Excellent, sturdy product.

I am very pleased with my purchase from etrailer! The product and service are excellent. The package arrived a day before scheduled and I was promptly notified of its arrival. I can't say enough about etrailer at a time when other companies are making delivery promises, that they can't deliver, etrailer comes through!

- RM-422

I used this tow bar to tow my 2013 Honda CR-V behind my motor home. This is a 10,000 lb bar that I used only because the 6000 lb bar was not available at the time of my need. The bar is very easy to install and hook up. The car does not have to be level or straight with the tow vehicle. Once hooked up a small left right movement of the two vehicles as you start moving locks the tow bar in place. Very easy to use.

This hitch is so easy to hook and unhook when I fell ill my wife absolutely had no problem getting the car hooked back up and getting us back on the road.

- RM-422

Works perfectly, heavy enough for my Ram 2500 and works great for my Jk wrangler

- RM-422

If you are looking for a great tow bar, the BlackHawk 2 for you. I have an older Roadmaster (10) years old and it was still working great but we got a larger tow close to 6k so the 10k looked good. EZ to hook and EZ to unhook plus I like the Non-Binding.

After a year on the road, this has worked well. The Non-Binding has never failed to get me unhooked. Before I unhook I wipe the rods down with cleaner and lube, hope to have this one 10 years.

Well made, beefy product. Nice finishes on exterior. It arrived quickly via UPS with slight packaging damage but the contents were undamaged. A protruding bolt worked its way through the box. Hook up to the towed vehicle MX style removable base plates was straightforward once the vehicle position was close. This is the first towbar I have used, but I can't imagine one being easier to use. My first outing was approx. 175 miles each way. The towed vehicle tracked nicely and smoothly. Unhooking the vehicle at the destination was equally easy even on an unlevel alignment with the motorhome. My only complaint is that the safety cables would not fit through the cable channels to keep the cables out of harms way. The cable are Roadmaster products so I feel there should have been some acknowledgment regarding this.

- RM-422

East to use web site, shipped immediately and arrived quickly. Emails were timely on order status. Customer service is great. This was my third order and been extremely pleased each time.

- RM-422

We bought a Blackhawk Roadmaster 2 tow bar approximately a year ago. We have nothing but good luck with it. Hooks up easily to our Jeep. I could even do if need be. So much easier than the long trailer to tow. Don't even feel it behind the motor home. Definitely recommend it.

Received the item in less than 5 shipping days. Looks like it will be a great Heavy duty Roadmaster Blackhawk 2 10,000 LB tow bay for my Tundra. Best price I found on the web and with the discount code and free shipping. It was a very fair deal. i HAVE DONE 3 ORDERS SO FAR WITH ETRAILER AND HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH THEIR CUST. SERVICE/PRICES. Thanks Ace

- RM-422

Had lots of ? and customer service was great. The ordering process was really painless all items arrived earlier than estimated. Everything mounted as stated with ease. I just watched a videos which Made the install easy. We are flat towing a Jeep Wrangler JL. The Roadmaster base plate with arms look good on the vehicle.

- RM-422

The tow bar is everything the advertisement promised. handled the order packaged and shipped all in a fast and expert fashion. This was my first order with them and being completely satisfied with them will be placing additional orders. My sales rep was Vince who not only answered all questions while making the purchase but has done a great job of after sales support. Could not be happier with the company.

- RM-422

Very nice tow bar. I pull a full size pick up and don’t worry about it. It does make hooking up and disconnecting the tow rig much easier than my old Falcon tow bar. Highly recommend.

- RM-422

While this was very expensive, you get what you pay for. This is definitely worth every penny and more. I have towed my 2016 Dodge RAM 2500 behind my RV with this tow bar for more than 8000 miles. Everything has worked flawlessly. I have even had one occasion where being cut off in heavy traffic at about 50 mph I cut the RV very hard to avoid plowing into the truck that cut me off, and my truck behind me stayed right where it was supposed to and remained securely behind the RV. It is very easy to use and works flawlessly.

- RM-422

The tow bar is great, the shipping was fast and the customer service has been great. I'm very disappointed that I was not informed that the cables were not included. The item is totally illegal and unusable without them. They offered to sell and ship them to me but we needed them immediately.

  • How to Check a Roadmaster Blackhawk Tow Bar for Damage After Backing Up
If you were backing up in a straight line and slowly then the tow bar is most likely fine. The problem is the vehicle wheels can turn and scrub the ground or jackknife the vehicle so you would want to give the vehicle a good once over as well. To determine if there is any damage to the tow bar you will want to check the telescoping and locking operation of the arms. If the arms do not move in and out as easily as they did before they may be bent. You will need to remove the arms and roll...

  • Where to Measure to Determine Correct High Low Adapter for Flat Towing
You want the tow bar to be as level as possible to tow the vehicle safely. You will need to measure from the ground to the bottom of the base plate arms that attach to the tow bar (when parked on level ground). Then measure from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on the RV. If the RV receiver is higher the difference is the amount of drop you will need. I have included a link to the various adapters we have.
