Let me start by saying you can't find a better company to work with than etrailer. I placed an order for a Blue Ox tow bar only to find out later that the tow bar hadn't even been manufactured so a reliable deliver date could not be provided. I told the sales rep that I needed the bar ASAP since I had a trip planned and needed to tow my Suzuki Sidekick behind my motorhome. They suggested I change my order for one that was in stock but was told that it would be 7-10 days before it would arrive. I placed the order but expressed my displeasure over the length of time it would take to get to me. Since I didn't want to pay for expedited shipping, I took my chances that it would arrive in time. To my surprise it can two days later. The sales rep apparently picked up on my frustration on the delivery interval and took it upon himself to make sure the tow bar got to me in time for my trip.

Thanks again for such great customer service.

Was well made with thick gauge metal.Great finish for good rust protection.Design is good for ease of attachment and tear-down.Am impressed with overall product.

George I am impressed with you and your web page. Your written attitude is something out of the past as I am an old timer who misses the politeness of my past.
Keep on being you. Love ya, Merritt
Ps suggest customers buy chain package, than running around to find all the parts.

Comments

Won't know if it will work until I get adapters to put it on. Disappointed that it is listed with the backet that I put on the truck only to find out they don't match up with out another adapter.

by:

Easy to set up and adjust to fit my vehicle. Lite enough for one person to handle and attach if necessary.

by:

I tow a race car all over the place, and I can truthfully say that this is probably the best tow bar I have ever owned. It’s the FIRST one that I have owned and felt comfortable enough to check it a coupla times and then forget it! For the quality of the product, it has an excellent price tag! Absolutely, I would recommend this to my closest friends!

Comments
Wow, so glad things are working out well for you, Gene, and we wish you the best of luck in your racing career! Just a quick note - the manufacturer recommends that you check your connections at the start of and several times during each trip.
-- Etrailer Expert Laura E - 06/19/2017
Its GOT to be one of the sturdiest and best-made tow bars I have ever owned. Easy on and off...never have to stop and check it any longer as I know it is right.

I am very happy with the tow bar I got from trailer. The most valuable part was all the advice I got from my salesperson, who helped me figure out all the options that would work on my car and helped me put together the best set of equipment. I highly recommend them!

  • Dimensions of Vehicle Mounting Bracket on Tow Ready Adjustable Tow Bar # 63180
I went out to the warehouse and measured the mounting holes in the mounting bracket on the Tow Ready Adjustable Tow Bar, item # 63180. These are 4 inches apart on center. The flat part of the mounting bracket is 2 inches by 5-1/2 inches.

  • Mounting Bracket Hole Dimensions for Tow Ready Tow Bar 63180
The holes of the mounting brackets on the Tow Bar part # 63180 are 1/2 inch in diameter. I attached the picture you mentioned that has the rest of the dimensions as well. Nuts and bolts for attached to a base plate kit are not included. You would need to provide those. Safety chains are not included either. For that you would want the RM-643 for a set of coiled cables.

  • Do Manual Transmission Trucks Have to Have a Drive Shaft Disconnect to be Flat Towed
It really depends on what the owners manual of your truck says. Under the recreational towing section of your owners manual there should be instructions on what needs to be done so that your vehicle can be flat towed. In most circumstances manual transmission vehicles only need to be put in neutral and they are ready to tow as-is. I attached an FAQ on flat towing for you to check out as well.

  • How Do You Align tow Bar Arms to Make Sure the Vehicle is Being Towed Straight
With a tow bar such as # 63180 you will have to have the toad lined up straight behind the RV to even attach it to the brackets on the toad. So the process of actually connecting the vehicle to the RV ensures that it is lined up straight. On tow bars that have arms that move in and out you can line up less than perfectly and the arms will retract out once you start moving and the vehicle will be straight. It all depends on the tow bar you are using but they all have built in ways of making...

  • Should Steering Wheel of Towed Vehicle be Secured With Tie-Downs for Flat Towing
You typically want to leave the steering wheel maneuverable so that the towed vehicle can track behind the vehicle doing the towing. The owner's manual for your Jeep will have a specific set of instructions that you can follow to prep your vehicle and make sure that nothing is damaged while flat towing. If you can let me know the year and model of your Jeep I can look into this further for you and help you figure out what you need to do and the parts needed to flat tow it.

  • What is Speed Rating for Reese Tow Bar # 63180
Tow Ready states that the speed rating for the Tow Ready tow bar part # 63180 is 45 mph. If you go faster than that the inertia of the vehicle can compromise the tow bar in the event of an emergency stop or turn. Since most modern vehicles don't have a flat, metal front bumper like what this requires it's not an ideal solution for most applications. No, the Tow Ready Adjustable does not stand up vertically or fold up for storage, but the Roadmaster Tracker Tow Bar for 5,000 lbs, part RM-020, does. You should also keep in mind that the Tow Ready Adjustable Tow Bar, # 63180, limits your towing speeds to 45 miles per hour or less.

  • Roadmaster Tow Bar Recommendation
I can't ever recommend you exceed the speed rating for a tow bar. If you need to travel faster than 45 miles per hour you would want to go with a different setup. The Roadmaster Falcon part # RM-520 is a very popular option that would work very well for you. This is one of the nicest tow bars as it has non-binding arms that will make connecting and disconnecting on unlevel ground possible. Other tow bars will bind up unless the towed vehicle is perfectly level and straight behind the vehicle. I...
