Sturdy, Built-to-Last Tow Bar

The heavy-duty etrailer XHD tow bar is tough and built to last. Sturdy, modular steel construction offers increased weight capacity and strength to pull up to 10,500 lbs. The XHD is perfect for towing a full-size truck or SUV. Two hitch pin holes allow you to position the tow bar closer to or further from your RV, without sacrificing load capacity.

The black powder coat finish protects against the elements and flying road debris. And stainless steel inner arms provide additional durability and allow for smooth operation. Quality-engineered pivot points and hardware ensure both strength and maneuverability.

Fast, Easy Hookup

With independent, easy-to-maneuver arms, the XHD makes connecting your towed vehicle to your motorhome a breeze. Unlike most tow bar arms that move together along a single plane, the XHD tow bar arms operate completely separately from one another. A vertical bolt through the head of the tow bar keeps the arms positioned one on top of the other, allowing for a more fluid hookup. The arms pivot horizontally on this bolt, allowing for an unlimited spread so that you can hook up to base plates with almost any spacing. A built-in joint at the base of each arm allows for vertical movement so that you don't have to tilt the entire head when positioning the arms.

The arms telescope for easy extension to your base plate connection points, even if your towed car is not perfectly aligned with your RV. The self-supporting design of the arms also allows you to telescope one arm out and attach it to the base plate without having to worry about supporting the opposite arm at the same time. The arms lock into place when you're ready to tow, and the extra length of the arms allows for a better turning radius. By putting more distance between your motorhome and your towed car, your entire setup will become easier to maneuver so that your towed car will track behind your motorhome without running the risk of hitting your RV during turns.

Base Plate Connection

In order to be compatible with Blue Ox base plates, sturdy adapter brackets are included for compatibility with the ends of each tow bar arm. These clevis-style ends attach to the base plates using the included hardware and provide a tight, stable connection for a safer and more dependable towing experience.

Non-Binding for Simple Disconnect

The built-in trigger releases make it easy to disconnect the XHD. Tension can build up in a telescoping arm when the RV and towed vehicle are not perfectly aligned. Engaging the trigger on each arm releases pressure and allows the arms to telescope freely, making it easy to disconnect the tow bar from the base plates, even if you are at a hard angle or out of level.

Each trigger release latch is positioned on the side of the tow bar arm. This allows for a comfortable yet firm grip, unlike latches that are positioned on the tops of tow bar arms, which can be difficult to grab. This out-of-the-way placement of the latches also creates a clean look for the tow bar.

Straight, Vinyl-Coated Safety Cables Included

Two straight, vinyl-coated safety cables provide added protection should the tow bar ever disconnect during towing. The cables are held off the ground by the included mounting clips. These clips keep the cables from dragging on the ground, preventing damage and tangling. Steel S-hooks with spring-loaded latches connect each cable to your towed vehicle's base plates and to your motorhome's trailer hitch.

The tow bar also offers a convenient storage rod for securing your coiled electrical cord (sold separately). The rod holds your power cord neatly out of the way and up off the ground.

Versatile, Secure Storage

Independent arm movement also allows for storage versatility. Easily store the tow bar out of the way, alongside your RV. The arms can be folded up to the right or to the left, or you can fold one arm to each side so that they are parallel to your motorhome's bumper. Just pivot each arm into position and a peg at the base of the arm will snap into a built-in tab, latching the arm in place so that you don't have to worry about it coming unfolded during travel.

For added protection, slip on the etrailer tow bar cover (e99008 - sold separately) while the tow bar is folded up either to the left or the right against your RV.

Guide to Flat Towing

Flat towing your vehicle is much more convenient than using a trailer or a tow dolly. These other options take up much more storage space, leaving you less room both at home and at the campsite. In addition, securing your vehicle to a trailer or tow dolly can be a hassle and more time consuming than hooking up with a tow bar.

There are 5 basic components needed when flat towing a vehicle: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a supplemental braking system.

Towing Basics

The tow bar links your towed car to your motorhome. It attaches to the custom-fit base plates that install on the frame of your towed car. Safety cables ensure that your towed car does not separate from your motorhome in the event that your tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring allows your towed vehicle's signal lights to sync up with your motorhome's tail lights, which is required by law in most states. Finally, the supplemental braking system - also required in most states - brakes your towed car when the brakes in your motorhome are activated, preventing wear on the motorhome and decreasing braking distance for your entire setup.

Video Transcript for Review of etrailer Tow Bar - Hitch Mount Style - e67ZR

Jeff: Hello everybody, this is Jeff 00:00:02 at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this etrailer XHD two inch RV mount non-binding tow bar for Blue Ox base plates. Has a 10,500 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now this tow bar will let you tow your vehicle safely and securely behind your motor-home. This portion here is what will slide into your two inch trailer hitch receiver on your RV. So there's no ball Mount necessary.

If you notice also on this shank here, there's two hitch pin holes that are about two inches apart. Allows for you to position the tow bar either closer to or further from your RV, depending on your application, without sacrificing any load capacity. You notice the pin and clip right here. That's included. That'll secure it to your hitch. Also there's no need for any high-low adapter on most setups because this adjustable head will tilt up or down three inches to keep the tow bar parallel with the road during towing.

And the shank we mentioned, if you noticed, has a built in one and a half inch drop, or if you flip it around, one and a half inch rise and that'll even give you additional height adjustability. The arms on this tow bar, they are telescoping self-supporting arms, which makes for fast, easy hookup.A main feature of this tow bar is the self-supporting arms. And that's because that allows them. They won't fall to the ground when they're unfolded. On some of your tow bar systems, it requires that you try to balance both of the arms at the same time while trying to hook them up.

With this one, you can do one at a time. And just to show what they mean by self-supporting, is if you lift it up, it'll stay in that position. Go down a little bit, stays like that. Or if you lift it up again, it'll stay wherever you let go of it. So that's a nice feature to help you when you're hooking up.Also these arms have full articulation, which allows for unlimited spread to fit your application.

This bar could actually go all the way out to here, this one all the way out to here. So about 180 degrees. Both these can open up. It is a self-aligning design. You just hook up and then drive your RV forward. And then what'll happen is the stainless steel in our arms right here. They extend into a rigid tow-ready position. And when you get far enough, you can hear them lock into place and you're ready to go.They are a non-binding design. So basically it allows you to easily release your vehicle even on unlevel ground. This trigger release right here, there's one on each arm. You just push that down to release it, and the arms will activate, even when they're under pressure. So if you're unlevel and there is under pressure on one arm, when you push that, it'll activate the arm. Nice feature. Also if you notice on these arms, they have these integrated cable mounting clips, which will keep your included safety cables off the ground. Prevents dragging. And if you notice the cables they include have a nice final coating on them to protect them. And on the end of each cable is this nice large steel S hook, with spring loaded latches for added security. You might see this rod here on this arm. This is a built-in storage rod. It'll keep your coiled electrical cord in place off the ground. Now the electrical cord is not included. You would have to supply that. When you plug it in, it'll be coiled and it hangs down. Could drag. What you want to do is pull this clip, put the extra coils on this rod, clip it back in place and it'll keep them from hanging down. This tow bar also offers a simple, secure storage alongside your motorhome. Now arms can be folded together and then swung to the left and they lock in place in these holes right here. swung to the right, either way they lock in place. Or as I mentioned, you can spread them all the way open and they'll lock in place. This does have a nice e-coat finish on. It provides corrosion resistance. It is made in the USA.This tow bar part number works with the Blue Ox base plates. You can see it includes these Blue Ox adapters and the hardware. Application again is two inch by two inch trailer hitch receivers. Weight capacity on this tow bar is 10,500 pounds. Now one note I do want to mention. Excuse me. When you look at the etrailer tow bars, we have an SD model which is about 6,000 pounds, and the XHD which is 10,500 pounds. And they do look similar, almost exactly alike, but the XHD the higher capacity one. Reason they're higher capacity, is if you look at these stainless steel inner arms, they are a lot larger diameter. So that gives you the extra capacity. Now the weight on this tow bar itself is 46 pounds. A few measurements I want to give you. The arm length, in other words if we put these arms together, you have a straight line here. If you measure from the center of this hitch pin hole at the end of the shank to the center of the base plate pinhole, when these arms are retracted, like they are now it'll measure 39 and a quarter inches. If we extend those arms, if you measure from there to that hole, it'll be 51 and three quarter inches. And then the last couple of measurements I want to give you is the distance from this hitch pin hole at the end of the shank to the beginning of where it rises or drops. That measurement is about five and a half inches. Distance from that same hitch pin hole at the end of the shank to this vertical bolt that's in the head, is 12 and a half inches. Now the last thing I want to mention is, it does come with this operator's manual that'll describe how everything goes together and how all the parts operate. But that should do it for the review on this etrailer XHD two inch RV Mount non-binding tow bar for the Blue Ox base plates, with a 10,500 pound gross towing weight capacity.

Recently purchased the e67ZR tow bars for Blue Ox base plate. The tow bars are are made by Demco but labeled etrailer which didn't bother me at all as I have purchased etrailer branded items before and have always been happy with them . The bars came two weeks early but had a safety cable that was damaged in transit that etrailer replaced immediately. The customer service by Dawn was exceptional and the product exactly what I wanted at a savings of over $xx.xx from the identical Demco labeled bars. The product is great, the service exceptional but watch the prices as they change daily which is the only reason I did not rate it 5 stars.
