Today we're going to be taking a look at the Bulldog receiver mount. It's going to have the shackle included with a screw pin design. What that means is you can easily remove the shackle. That was you can attach your tow strap or recovery strap. Nice heavy duty shackle. Now receiver mounts are an easy way to add a recovered point to your vehicle.
It simply becomes an attachment point for a strap. This is a 2 and a half inch by 2 and a half inch class 5 receiver mount with a 7/8th inch shackle. It's going to be designed for 2 and a half inch by 2 and a half inch hitches. It's CNC machined, so it's a solid steel mount with a nickel plating for corrosion resistance. Then here at the shackle we're going to have the forged alloy steel shackle and that's going to have a zinc plating on it to resist rust and corrosion. The brake strength rating for this unit is 78,000 pounds and the working load limit is 13,000 pounds.
You can see here at the end of our shang it's going to have pen holes all around it. That way you can use this in any position inside your hitch, whether it's vertically or horizontal. The diameter of those pin holes is going to measure 5/8ths of an inch. You hitch pin and clip or hitch lock is going to be sold separately. We carry those on our website if you need to check those out.
Just a few measurements we're going to go over real quick starting with the overall length, from very back to the front with the shackle extended out. That's going to give us a measurement of about 11 and a half inches. If we measured just the mount portion without the shackle, that's going to give us a measurement of about 8 inches. Really simple installation. This portion right here is going to be the portion that slides into your 2 and a half inch by 2 and a half inch trailer hitch receiver. You're going to push it in until you get your pin holes lined up with one another in whatever configuration that you want to use this.
Then you attach it inside your hitch using a hitch pin and clip or a hitch pin and lock. That's going to do it for today's review of the Bulldog receiver mount with the shackle.

Meets my need which is a receiver hitch adapter to better attach chain and rope to move firewood logs. This fits my Curt 2.5x2.5 receiver, and also accepts my 5/16" chain grab hook as pictured. Not sure just yet which orientation I'll use most, but will experiment next wood cutting outing.
While I just received this product and have not had the opportunity to use it, I know it will meet the needs of future towing tasks the next time I have to tow a truck or car. In the past I have had to attach a tow strap to my rear axle in order to tow someone, but now I have this attached to my truck, and towing will be so much easier. The unit is solid, not hollow, and it is very strong. The customer service at etrailer was very good as well.

If you need a tow point for a truck with a class 5 receiver, this is one hefty hitch. Looks great too.
I haven’t had to use it yet, but much better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. I keep it under the seat, just in case. It’s heavy duty, and without a doubt will save mine, or someone else’s bacon sooner or later.
