What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out this BulletProof hitch mounted shackle. So this is gonna be a shackle that mounts into your hitch. It's gonna fit two inch by two inch. Today we have a reducer, a two and a half inch just to show you how it works. Now, why you want to get these is for recovery or for off-roading.
So if you get stuck or somebody else gets stuck around you, you can help pull 'em out. So instead of using tow hooks underneath your vehicle that aren't as trustworthy, you're gonna worry about damaging something on your vehicle's frame, you have this is gonna be way more sturdy and reliable to pull somebody out. Now, how it works is you have a pin here and just loosen up with your hand. You don't need to worry about tightening with tools or anything. So I like that, you don't need anything else, but your hands to remove the pen and then the shackle itself, and then you'll take whatever we're gonna use to pull somebody out.
We have a strap here, so put the loop in around the shackle and then put it back into place, just threads right in. If you look at the shackle, one side's threaded so just point the pin towards it and turn. Now, when you go to tighten it down, don't tighten it too much, wait until it stops tightening by hand and then just back it off a half a turn. It's gonna be easier to take this off when you need to move this strap. Now, you can use this in two different ways.
So right now we have the shackle vertically, so we can go this way with. It may be easier if you need to pull somebody out that is stuck in an angle. You can't quite get your truck to them, so you need to come at it from this way. It'll pull better and put less stress on the pin that you can use it in that situation. Now, if you'd wanna use it in the other way, there's gonna be two options for each one, so we could go in a little bit more in the way it was.
So that's gonna be as close as you get with this hole and the second hole is gonna bring it out a little bit more here to avoid after market bumpers or anything else. You can flip it like this and use the shackle horizontally. Put that pin back in and now you can run the strap through the shackle this way. The weight rating on these shackles are gonna be 30,000 pounds. So just keep that in mind with what you wanna hook up. It's gonna have a black powder coat on the steel construction so it's heavy duty with that coating. If you leave it in the back of your hitch all the time, the weather's not gonna bother. It won't rust or corrode. Now, it does come with its own hitch pin and clip, so that's nice. Not a lot of these do come with their own. But I would recommend if you're gonna invest in a heavy duty shackle like this and mount, to go and get a locking hitch pin that fits in there that way you can keep it locked up. So when you're not around, nobody can mess with it. Comes with an inch and a quarter shackle that goes on our two inch version of the day. Now, there is a two and a half inch version of the mount. It's gonna have the same heavy duty shackle on there, so you know it's gonna be able to pull anybody outta trouble. Overall, I think it's definitely a handy thing to have in the back of your truck, especially if you're off-roading a lot. You know what happens when you get stuck You won't rely on what tools you got. It'd be awesome to have this in the back of the truck because of how heavy duty it is. You don't have to worry about is it gonna work Am I gonna get stuck and not be able to get out there You can get unstuck and you can help somebody else too. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and hope it's helped.
