Video Transcript for The Low-Down on the Tire Grip Vehicle Traction Recovery Track for Snow, Mud, and Sand

Shane: Hey everyone. Shane here with etrailer.com. As you can see here, outside, here at the lot, it's been snowing quite a bit. We're having a little bit of a traction problem. But we have a solution. It's the Traction Tracks by Stallion.

They're made of durable, rubber construction. They can be used on either side. For a situation like this, when it's snowing, on one side, you're going to have little cleats. You want those facing up. For icy situations, you turn them down, and the cleats will dig into the ice.

Set them up, you want to set them on your drive axle. You're going to put it right in front of the tire. And then it'll allow you to get out of a sticky situation. Whether it's mud, ice, snow, or even sand. One of my personal experiences, or why something like this would be good to get out of a situation, you something quick.

I was in law enforcement for 12 years, and it was about 4:30 in the morning. And it wasn't snow like this. It was more ice, on this slight incline.I went to check on a blinking light that was down a hill, because I didn't know if it was a car. Well, once I got down this slight incline, I couldn't get back out. I didn't have anything in the vehicle.

These would have worked out perfect to give me that grip I needed to get up to the top. I had to call a tow truck, wake them up at 4:30, come out to get me. So personal experience, these would have been perfect in the back of that vehicle. These are going to be eight and three quarter inches wide by 33 and a half inches long. You can buy them singly, or you can buy them as a set. You can find those here at etrailer. Each strip is going to have tread on it. So you're tire grips to it a lot easier. Another thing I want to point out is if we look at the side here, they're not flat, they're actually raised in the center. So that also adds a lot of grip when trying to get out of a sticky situation. With these being a rubber construction and how thick they are, it makes them very durable. They're going to hold up. Obviously in these weather conditions, our tires are going to stick to them very well. You may be asking yourself, are these cleats going to come out And they're not. They're actually embedded inside the rubber when the rubber's made. Another nice feature with this is if you can see here, there's actually wires or cables that run all the way down and up through them. So when you compare them to some of the other ones that I've actually shot out here, when we tried to use them, they just broke apart. So they didn't work. These being as thick, durable as they are, we don't have to worry about them falling apart. Another nice thing about them having the wire cable that goes through there, let's say we're on an incline, or we have a small hill we have to go over, as you can see, that we can pretty much form it to the ground wherever we are.One thing I will say is if you're in thick mud, these are not going to be made for four-wheeling or anything like that. If you're in some thick mud, these probably aren't going to be ideal for you. These are going to be more for your lighter situations where you have a top layer surface of slick mud that's not real deep, obviously snow and ice. These are also going to roll up into a nice small contained area. And they're going to come with a case so that you can easily put it in the trunk of your car. So they're ready to go for the next time. These are going to be very easy to clean. They get muddy, dirty, whatever, you spray them off, let them dry. They usually dry off pretty quick. Wrap them up, throw them in the back of your car so they're ready.Case is going to have a nice durable, nylon handle on it. So it makes it easy to pick up, pull out of your trunk or wherever you have it stored to get them ready to set up. My overall thoughts on these, I really like them. I think they're a great idea. If you're looking for an easy way to get out of a sticky situation, and you just can't find the perfect full tire chains, this is the way to go. They stay nice and compact. They fit in the back of your vehicle very easy, and they're easy to lay out when you're ready to use them. But that being said, that's going to do it for a look at the Traction Recovery Tracks by Stallion.

Used this traction pad to get my 3 wheel Polaris Slingshot unstuck from sand when I pulled off the highway for a leg stretch recently. I've used these things before with my Jeep during off road trips and they never let me down. Although they work perfectly in nasty situations you don't really want to be in, they also fold down unusually small. Love them and carry them with me always. Thanks etrailer for an awesome product.

by:

Haven’t had the opportunity to use yet but was pleasantly surprised with the quality. Much more heavy duty than I would have imagined. Ordering process was easy. Great follow up from customer service. Quick delivery. I will be ordering again

I am glad that you have not had a situation where this was needed. But, whenever you do need to use it, let us know what you think.

by:

Got these as cheap insurance against getting stuck off road or if I need a little extra traction at the boat ramp. Seem well made and they roll up to a small size and include a wrap with a handle so keeping in my truck is easy. Would highly recommend, can't beat at this price point.
Great service from etrailer as always, even upgraded my order to next day shipping at no extra cost. They are one of the few companies I enjoy getting email from to inform me of latest products for towing or my truck.

Thankfully I havent got stuck anywhere so I havent needed to use them but, rest assured, they are still in my emergency kit in my truck.

by:

The traction mats are superb - better than expected. They are well made and sturdy. However, the packaging carton was broken open in a number of places and the individual boxes for the traction mats were loose in the larger box. Because of the weight of the mats, the individual traction mat boxes had to be extensively repaired in order to give the mats as gifts.

I purchased one of these for my wife about 2 months. Seeing first hand how it could be used to get out of trouble in snow, mud and sand. I discussed this product with a friend who asked me to get one for him. I have discussed this with others, who also said that this is a great idea. Thanks, to the designer! Keep-up the good work!!!

Used it only once since I purchased for my wife. Worked as advertised, saved a call for a tow. Thanks again, great design, easy to use.

by:

Recieved my treads today and very happy with the product! Very well built and roll right up to store in the included storage wrap so they take up very little space. Thick heavy rubber treads enforced wifh steel cable giving them extra strength. One side has metal spikes to grip the ice in winter and the other heavy ribbed rubber for more traction. I am going to order 2 more in case I bury all 4 tires. I showed them to a friend with a jeep and first thing he said was," I hope you are on the beach if I ever get stuck!" Very happy with this purchase from etrailer.com!

by:

These are serious traction mats at a very reasonable price. I've seen no others this long nor this well thought out: steel spikes on the bottom for traction into ice or other slippery surfaces, heavy duty rubber treads held together by steel flexible cables and a carrying handle molded of rubber. They roll up tight for storage into a neat Velcro secured storage sleeve that is slightly over sized so you need not roll it perfectly tight to fit. I haven't needed to use them yet, however knowing they are stowed neatly away in the back of my rear wheel drive van makes traveling adventures a bit more secure feeling. Quickly deploy-able. Thanks for a great product.

by:

Just had a chance to use this the other day. Had to pull a guy out and without these giving him traction I don't know if I could have got him out. Like them so much I am going to buy another set. Invaluable on the sand beaches in Mx., helping to launch my boat across beaches.

by:

After owning a set for 1yr and used them about 6 times in SoCal desert sand, we love these. My favorite feature is how compact they are when rolled up. Fits in our recovery toolbox perfectly.

by:

2nd pair purchased. Heavy duty and they work great. Used on ice and heavy snow for multiple vehicles. Need to get as close under the tire as possible so the tire grips. Noticed some shredding of the rubber as the tire spun its way onto the tread but nothing bad. Could use a little more bevel (it is beveled some) on the first link for more of a ramp action. Loved how it easily rolls up into its storage bag and stows away easily. A must have for snow country travel.

by:

Very satisfied with the product and the customer service. The delivery time was excellent. will be using the traction recovery track for driving on the beach. Thanks for the great service

by:

Haven’t had an opportunity to use this item yet, but it appears well made, compact and tough enough to do the job. Cheap insurance to carry in the truck.
Dealing with Etrailer was a good experience as usual.

by:

Great product. Actually used it the 1st day I got it to get my tractor/snowblower out after it slide off the edge of the driveway on the ice/snow. Put it under the rear drive tire and the tire grabbed immediately and got back on the driveway. I should of bought these a few winters ago !!!

by:

I picked these up to put in the truck for sand and mud. Snow was an after thought because I haven't been stuck in snow since the 1970's. live in NY. These things are well constructed, heavy duty rubber tire like and slatted. Little ladders for your tires. They should do the job well if I get careless off road. Picked up 4 of these. Good compliment for the tow straps and hi low jack.

by:

Keep in my car for times I get stuck in the snow on our steep driveway. very sturdy & well made. They work great, roll-up and store easy in my trunk.

Work great - dont have to call my husband every time I get stuck.

by:

I realy like these Tire Grip Traction Recovery Tracks. I can't wait to use them, although I don't realy want to get stuck. I know some day they will come in handy. I ordered them and they were delivered in four days, nice.

by:

etrailer.com for the win! My order arrived two days after placing order. Haven't tried the recovery tracks yet, but the seem very well made!

by:

I really like how this comes tightly rolled and easily stored with my other recovery gear. Most similar products are rigid and need to be secured to the vehicle on the roof, rear or sides. I am happy to say I haven't had to use it yet so cannot comment on usefulness of purpose. I can say it is made well.

by:

Look like they are build good. Hope I never need to use then but nice to have for sand. Snow & ice, and I think they will work great on the slippery boat ramps I come across in Florida often. I can launch anywhere but getting the boat back on dry land can be another adventure.

by:

Work very well: I use these for pulling my ski boat out at a sand ramp. Even though I have a 4WD Jeep, my tires will spin if I don't use these. They have really helped me but I would like a longer version because I need to lay two of these down to make the full car length path out. They are placed between the front and back tires. Not sure what I would do without them. Struggle, I'm sure.

by:

Delivery was very quick and accurate. Haven’t used the product yet but it appears to be made of substantial materials. The traction mat came in it’s own carry bag.

by:

We own two Ford Falcon's, last year we went to a car show that was held on a field that was wet. This product will help if we get stuck in the sand, mud or wet dirt. This is handy and stores easily without taking too much room.

shared with a friend and he bought one also. With all the rain, glad I had one!

by:

Excellent quality, these will undoubtedly improve tire traction in even the worst conditions.

by:

While I have not used this yet, it does appear very strong with internal cables holding the track together.
Rubber tread very stout

by:

I can't wait to see if this works. I am always getting stuck so I will post again after I personally test this out.

I got stuck going fishing, the truck is only 2 wheel drive. I threw 1 of the tracks down on the wheel that was spinning. Had a friend sit in bed of truck, to add weight. Then I simply gave engine small amount of gas & the truck, trailer, boat came out of the mud. For me great product, saved me having to have truck pulled out by a wrecker.

  • Does Tire Grip Vehicle Traction Recovery Track Have a Weight Rating
The Tire Grip Vehicle Traction Recovery Track for Snow, Mud, and Sand # 288-07411 actually doesn't have a weight rating so it will work great for a heavy duty truck like your F-550 with the service bed.

  • Can I Use the Tire Grips for a Ford F-150 on a Boat Ramp
Yes. They do come as a single track with part # 288-07411, or as a set with part # 288-07411-2.

  • Will the Tire Grips # 288-07411 Work with My 1-Ton Diesel Truck?
As long as you slowly ease into the throttle and do not slam it, the weight of your 1-ton truck will sustain the shape of the Tire Grip Vehicle Traction Recovery Tracks for Snow, Mud, and Sand # 288-07411. We have had neighbors successfully use the Tire Grips on larger trucks. The Tire Grip traction plate # 288-07411 was designed to be used at the time of getting stuck so you wouldn't want to keep the RV parked on it. I do have an option that you can stay parked on and can also help with leveling if need be. Take a look at the 10 pack of leveling blocks # CAM44521. Several of these on the ground will provide a solid platform and they can be stacked to help with leveling. I have included a link to a video review for you.

  • Can these be used for boat ramp launching/recovering?
Absolutely the Tire Grip Vehicle Traction Recovery Track # 288-07411 can be used for extra traction on a boat ramp. They can be used virtually on any surface to help improve traction. We even had a customer write a review saying that's what they use it for. Having that extra security is really nice, and when you don't need them you can store them in the back by your spare tire. They do come as a single piece # 288-07411, and as a set # 288-07411-2 I linked a review video for you to check out.

Yes the Tire Grip Vehicle Traction Recovery Track part # 288-07411 would be a very viable option for gaining extra traction on the slippery gravel boat ramps.
