Round trailer axle beam measures 89" from hub face to hub face (when hubs - sold separately - are mounted) and 74" from spring center to spring center. Easy Grease spindles make it easy to lubricate bearings (sold separately).

There are multiple ways to measure the length of an axle beam, but the hub-face-to-hub-face and spring-center-to-spring-center lengths are the most accurate. Hub face (A) refers to the length of the axle measured from the base of one wheel stud to the base of the wheel stud on the opposite side of the axle (when hubs are mounted on the beam).
The spring center (B) is the approximate width of your trailer. It is measured from the center of the spring seat on one side of the axle to the center of the seat on the other. This axle beam comes with the spring seats welded on.
If you are replacing your trailer's axle, you should be able to figure out which type you need by determining your trailer's capacity, the bolt pattern of your wheels, the brake type and the aforementioned lengths.
etrailer axles are made of high-strength steel and come with spindles and spring seats welded on. The spring seats are attached to the underside of the axle so that the leaf springs (sold separately) can mount beneath the axle. The result of this underslung design is a trailer that rides a bit lower for quick and easy loading and unloading.
Each axle is manufactured to create a certain camber angle. This ensures that the angle of the wheels is correct for your towing needs. Because the primary concern when towing is maintaining controlled, in-line movement, each axle is made so that your trailer's tires will run along the pavement evenly, with contact across the width of the tread. The result is excellent straight-line acceleration for steady, in-line tracking. You might notice the bend near the center of the axle; this is what ensures the proper camber angle. Having the center ride a bit higher and the sides of the axle bent lower allows the axle to give just enough to compensate for the load.

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this trailer axle with the easy grease spindles. This is gonna be a great option for those of you who are needing to replace an axle on your trailer, or if you're building your own trailer, you wanna have more of a customized suspension system, this will also work for that as well. But of course, there are lots of different axles out there, different weight capacities, different lengths, so you wanna make sure that you're getting the right one for your trailer. This is going to be a 2 3/8 inch diameter round steel axle beam, it's gonna have a max weight capacity of 3,500 pounds, so if you've got a single axle trailer with a weight capacity of 3,500 pounds, this will work great for that, or if you're using that in a dual axle system, the weight capacity will obviously double. So the next thing you're gonna need to know to ensure that this is gonna work for you is gonna be the length.
So there are two different ways to measure the length, the first is gonna be from our spring seats here, which are where our leaf springs will attach to our axle. These are welded onto our axle, so it is gonna give us a nice static point of reference to measure from. So from the center of one spring seat to the center of the other, it's gonna be right at 74 inches. The other way to measure is from your hub face, now obviously, this is just the axle, the brakes and hubs are not included, so if you we're to put your hubs in place, from one side to the other, it would be right at 89 inches. So again, make sure that that's gonna work for your trailer, your setup.
If you need a different size axle, different weight capacity, different length, we do have lots of other options available here at etrailer.com. So again, make sure you're getting the right one for you. So this axle does have a slight bend right here in the center, that's gonna be our camber, it's going to ensure that as our trailer is under load, our wheels and tires are going to be in line, so that we're gonna have full road to tread contact across the full width of our wheels, so we're not gonna have to worry about uneven tire wear, it's gonna be great for your straight line acceleration and nice steady towing, so having that built-in camber is gonna be nice for us. Our spindles are welded in place using a patented welding process, it actually allows the spindle to slide over the axle rather than just butting up against it, so that's going to create about a 40% stronger weld to help prevent spindle failure, it's also going to ensure proper alignment of our spindle with our axle, so everything is gonna be nice in line there. You can see, our spindle does have a four inch drop, so that's going to allow for a lower axle beam, allowing a lower deck height, for easier loading and unloading of our gear in our trailer.
And this is an easy grease spindle, so it is gonna have that built-in grease zerk there on the end, so we can easily hook up our grease gun, pump some grease in, it's gonna come out through this hole here to fill up that cavity, and make sure there's plenty of grease to help keep everything lubricated in between your regular maintenance. That's not gonna replace the need to take things apart, make sure your bearings are packed properly, it's just gonna be kinda in between that regular maintenance to make sure that you've got plenty of grease in that hub. Our axle is also pre-wired for electric brakes, so you can see, we've got a dual wire here that runs from one side of the axle to the other, so if you are gonna install electric brakes, it's one less thing that you're gonna have to worry about, one less wire to run there. Our spring seats, as I mentioned, they are welded to the underside of our axle, and that's going to allow us to mount our leaf springs in the underslung orientation, again, creating a nice low ride height to make it easier to load and unload our trailer. This axle is CSA, QAI, and SAE N-certified, so you can trust it is going to meet those high quality standards, it's gonna do a good job for you, hold up well.
It also comes with a limited lifetime warranty, so if you we're to have any problems with it, you're more than welcome to reach out to us here at etrailer.com. We're always happy to work with our customers to make sure you're getting good quality products and having a good experience. So as long as that weight capacity works for your trailer, and that length is gonna fit, I say this is gonna be a really great axle, I think you'll be very happy with it. That's gonna complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..
