Bearing Buddy installed diagram

Bearing Buddy Operation

Replace your existing grease cap with a Bearing Buddy to ensure a safe, easy way to monitor and control the level of grease in your axle hub. To adjust the amount of grease in the hub, use a grease gun to add more through the appropriate fitting. Adding grease moves the Bearing Buddy spring-loaded piston outward 1/8".

The O-ring inside the barrel of the Bearing Buddy maintains a seal from the outside. The interior of the Bearing Buddy is pressurized, preventing water from entering the barrel and diluting the grease.

An automatic pressure-relief feature is built into the Bearing Buddy. When the device is full, grease will seep around the edges of the piston and into the barrel. This prevents overfilling that can damage the inner seal.

You can manually check the grease level in your Bearing Buddy by pressing on the edge of the piston. If you can rock or move the piston, the hub is properly filled.

Installed these, they are working perfectly. Happy to have found them, living up here in Northern Ontario, it was something no local distributor had in stock.

Just checked the bearings a few days ago, my trailer gets used once a year to launch the boat, and then retrieve it. Bearings were perfect.

by:

Your Bearing Buddy Protectors looked very good. However, they did not fit on our trailer. I did return them.

by:

They’re buddy bearings need I say more. Very well constructed. Will have these on all my trailers.

by:

Incredible service from all at e-trailer. Thank you so much !! E- trailer is awesome.

by:

I visited several auto parts stores to find the right sized dust hubs for my utility trailer. I had measured the diameter of the one cap I did have. No one had the correct size. I did try a couple of close caps, BUT, they didn't want to fit, even if I bent the lip in somewhat. I was frustrated!
One of the parts stores suggested a local trailer shop. I tried and they tried, BUT AGAIN, no cigar. They did, however, measure the size via micrometer, at 1.94" So out of desperation I tried the e-trailer site.
I came across some customer comments when looking at the closest size to mine that E-Trailer offered, 1.938." Now that seemed as close to 1.94" I could get.
I decided on "Bearing Buddies at that size, since others said that dealing with e-trailer was a great experience. They came within two days and the Bearing Buddy's slid on without a whimper, nice and tight. And, they also came with the protective bra's.
Now that e-trailer turned out to be my salvation and they got my product to me in a very short time, e-trailer will now be my "GO-TO" guys. I have three Utility Trailers, all for different purposes and I now have a place to trust when needed. No need to go anywhere else. The price was better than fair and they did not try making extra profit by inflating the freight cost. I know this because I ship a lot, have my own business and have my own UPS, FEDEX and USPS accounts and I know what shipping costs are.
E-Trailer are straight shooters! Thanks guys!!

Fantastic!

Keeps the grease in place and makes adding super easy.

by:

I refurbished an old home built boat trailer and was fortunate enough to find Bearing Buddies that fit my hubs. I have only towed my trailer one time but I know how well Bearing Buddies work and I am extremely confident they will hold up longer than the trailer will.

by:

It was easy to replace old caps with Bearing Buddys and etrailer was there to help me get the right size, my trailer had odd size caps. Its a peace of mind one or two pumps of grease and your on your way, outstanding product.

by:

Hard to find any fault with a brand name product such as Bearing Buddy. These went right on as advertised. Pretty slick having the protector bras and greasers all in one set, especially for the old obsolete boat trailer hubs I am dealing with!

Great follow-up and support from the supplier etrailer.com as well. Few suppliers seem to remember customer service as a proactive policy.

by:

Simply fantastic service. Adjusted my order on the fly and made sure it got to me on time, for a hassle free long-distance trip. Thank you Carol!

As for the product -- I went with 1980 SS in the end. Easy to install, load with grease. My trailer's wheels were blissfully silent across an 800 mile round trip.

(Now to return the ones I didn't need...)

by:

I have used Bearing Buddies in the past and wanted to install them on my new trailer. etrailer quickly shipped my new Bearing Buddies. Unfortunately Bearing Buddies had labeled their product wrong and they were to large. etrailer quickly resolved the issue. Great Service!!!!

by:

I have a homemade trailer for a jet ski. The hubs and spindles are not common. But Bearing Buddy makes it easy to identify the exact part needed based on the outer bearing race/cone. They arrived super fast and they fit perfectly. I installed them in under 10 minutes. My old homemade trailer will now last longer than the jet ski. Bearing Buddy's are a must have item for any boat trailer.

by:

I used these on my golf cart and they fit and have worked great. good company to do business with

great

by:

Couldn't find a plain old bearing cap anywhere - odd size- so I got a bearing buddy. Wheel looks good and I can pretty much forget ever having to pack bearings again.

by:

They look well built but I got the wrong size. The diameter of the current caps on the trailer are 1-15/16".. The 1938 is just about 1-7/8". I need the next larger size.

by:

The bearing buddys have worked flawlessly. It was nice to get the size I needed because my hubs were from an older trailer. Thanks.

by:

Product arrived much quicker than I expected, in fact, 2 days after ordering. Have used bearing buddies for several years. I had a very old trailer that I was putting them on and the size of the hub was smaller than the normal 1980. This was the only place that I could find this size in a quick search. I did have to ease the hub size slightly, but they fit well now.

by:

I have used bearing buddies before haven’t put the on the hub yet but I don’t see any problems

by:

I was able to replace a dammaged dust cap with a greasable bearing buddy on antique rock picker. I looked locally first, and was unable to locate BB's in this size . I was able to order them here and they arrived quickly, installed easily, and work great. Thanks again, J.Miller

by:

Lori.
Looks like the dust covers are
too small, but I need to get my trailer back from my brothers shed to be sure. Will let you know Monday around noon or so. Thanks for the follow up. It is greatly appreciated.

by:

Fantastic service -=- I measured the bearings wrong three times -- ordered them. When they would not fit they worked with me to replace them that day.

by:

Worked perfectly for servicing the hubs on my ranger trailer

by:

As always, e-trailer has the right parts and good prices.

by:

etrailer.com is competative on prices
and quick to deliver an order. I am very satisfied.

They only have to go in far enough to fit snug and tight inside the hub bore. Many grease caps have a flange length of just a little over a 1/4 inch, and most are well under a 1/2 inch.
