Grease Seal - 10-9

Average Customer Rating:  4.8 out of 5 stars   (121 Customer Reviews)

I am sure the product is of average quality, however when you purchase multiple items from etrailer (some of substantial weight) and they box everything together without any packing materials to keep fragile items safe, the comfort and likeness of purchasing items through this retailer drops. Brought this up with their customer service, and they said it was packed properly. The grease seal should of been in the little plastic bag.

by:

Contacted the experts to find the correct size grease seal for my Dexter Axel. Jameson C. came up with the correct size. Quick delivery and an easy install, good follow up by Courtney B. Etrailer came through again.

by:

After answering some relevant questions, the rep. Andrea was able to match the correct part for my bearings.
Speedy delivery with reasonable shipping charges.
Overall, new go to place for parts, maintenance beats breakdowns.
Much thanks

Fantastic! I needed grease seals to get the Pwc trailer fixed .
They are correct and arrived to fast.
I have always trusted etrailer.
Picture is the old leaking seal. The new one is perfect.

Great service and fast delivery!!

by:

I purchased two of these axles to replace my old square ones. They appear to be good quality but they arrived damaged. The grease fittings on the ends were smashed because packaging wasn't adequate. I've emailed back and forth and was shipped the wrong parts for replacement. In the end I was told I'd have to cut the spindles off and replace them. All I need is new grease zerks that thread on the ends of the axles. Be prepared to purchase these on your own because customer service is subpar on a remedy and the way they package them for shipping does not prevent damage.

by:

Grease Seal shipped very quickly, exactly as described.

by:

I highly recommend etrailer for all trailer needs

by:

Item delivered is the incorrect seal… same deal that came in the kit… disappointing

by:

I bought a Toy Carrier motorcycle trailer 3 years ago, I've taken it 2000mi
round trip to Daytona several times and feel guilty i have not repacked the wheel bearings yet. I consulted the Dexter axle website and found it very confusing, and of very little help acquiring new bearing seals, but i finally did find a part number, I entered the number on the etrailer website and was immediately rewarded with an image and wealth of information pertaining to the exact seal i needed, i refused to take the hub apart without the correct seal in hand, etrailer saved me a lot of worry over nothing, just good simple expedient service.

I am a firm believer in Murphy's Law and plan for things to go wrong. I have kept a full bearing set for my Dexter #9 in the tool box of my teardrop since I first got it. I have yet to need them but I am ready.
I had to order a second set of seals to replace the original set that came with the axle kit. Why? Some unfortunate soul came up to me in a campground and since we had a similar Little Guy/NuCamp trailer, asked me "I bet you don"t have a spare set of bearing seals?" He lost a bearing and even though he found new bearings and races - at 5 times the cost, but no one in the little town we were in had any idea of the seal number. I gave him the part numbers from my cross ref sheet and he left to make some calls. A week to get them! We looked them up, ordered me a new set and sold them for the replacement cost. We keep in touch, he made it home from Calif to N. Carolina and has made several trips since with no issues.

by:

These seals were for repacking of wheel bearings on a 23 yr old 5' X 8' utility trailer (probably has less than 1,000 mi on it). etrailer shipped promptly and the seals are the correct size. The new ones may be better quality than the originals; but it's probably not fair to compare 23 old seals to brand new ones. These were Dexter 8-258 hubs on a 2200# axle. Bearings were good, but I don't plan on waiting 23 yrs. before I service them again. If I am, I will be 90. We all hope I'm not "home improving" at that age.
Thanks etrailer.com

Grease Seal - 10-9

by:

Exactly what I needed to finish my bearing repack job! etrailer always has just the right parts when you can't find them anywhere else!

by:

Seals work good, I had to leave them hang out of the hub about a 1/16", to make sure they would make it past the grease hole on the spindle , that is the reason for the new seals. Hoping that will solve the issue of the grease getting on the inside of the wheel.

by:

The product is fine. The review is more about finding these beasts. I went to 5 stores in my local area to no avail. I went online and entered the bearing SN# and only one company had a link to grease seal. I was never particular about where I brought online. Every time I needed trailer parts, this was the place. I'd suggest all trailer parts shoppers just start here.

by:

Exact fit for my new axle replacement. Fast shipping and web site was very easy to place your order. I will use this company again.

After a year still working great.

by:

Orders twice with varied product needs for utility trailer, bearings, seals, lights, wiring and hub. All good price and all just right

by:

Haven't installed the brake magnet yet but looks to be an exact match to the old one. As for the seals I ordered, I learned not to trust my owners manual. It listed a part number to get for seal replacement so I ordered them and etrailer delivered them very efficiently only to find out the i.d. was not a fit. I should have checked the dimensions before ordering. I have found other discrepancies in my Aliner manual so it's not to be relied on. Thanks for fast service, etrailer.

by:

The grease seals work perfect. As always etrailer.com is a great place to order all your trailer products. Easy ordering and fast delivery.

by:

I order all of my trailer accessories from your company. Fast shipping professional customer service and the parts always fit

by:

Fit perfect on my 1994 Jayco Jay series pop up camper. That takes the same bearing on both sides of the hub L44649 making the seal a hard one to find locally.Great price after ... wanted more for one.Was well worth the few day wait.

by:

All bearing and seal parts where delivered on time and worked perfectly on rebuilding wheel beatings

by:

I have used these grease seals before and they work great. Well made and don't allow grease on the brakes.

by:

Tech support suggested wrong size. They're doing great in the envelope. I tracked down the right size, and ordered them. Those work great.

  • Too Much Play in Hub and Drum Assembly on Henshen Axles
It sounds like your axles take bolt-on hubs. Is this correct? If there is excessive play then something is not tight enough or it is possible that the hub is not the correct fit for the spindle or the bearings may not be correct for the hub or spindle. There is likely a correct torque rating for a bolt-on hub that you would need to determine from the manufacturer. The 4-bolts in the back though sound like the ones that hold on the brake assembly. You should be able to unbolt a bolt-on...

  • Replacement Grease Seal for a 1999 Bass Tracker Pro Team 175
The correct grease seal you need for your 1999 Bass Tracker Pro Team 175 should be part # 10-9. This seal has a 1.500" inner diameter and a 1.987" outer diameter. I would measure the outer diameter of your existing grease seal to be certain you receive the correct replacement.

  • Trailer Hub Grease Seal Recommendation for Replacing National Seal 474276

  • Replacement Axle for a 1994 Aliner Trailer
You can order axles to your specifications from a tractor or trailer supply store. Or you can try a Timbren Axle-less system. I have included a link to the Axle-less systems, which are like torsion axles, to the right. We do not carry any regular torsion axles. Please note that raising the height of a trailer will also raise its center of gravity making it more susceptible to sway.

  • Replacement Grease Seal Recommendation for a 16074-224
I did a little digging on your grease seal number and it looks like the 16074-224 has an inner diameter of 1.5 inches and an outer diameter of 1.987 so the correct part number you would need is the # 10-9.

  • Availability of Trailer Grease Seal that would Fit Golf Cart
The grease seal part # 10-9 that you referenced is designed for use on a trailer hub, but if the inner and outer diameters match what you golf cart has it could potentially work for you. The inner diameter of the seal is 1.5 inches and the outside diameter is 1.987. If your seal matches that exactly it should work.

  • How to Find the Correct Seal for Trailer
Since we do not have parts lists for individual years, makes and models of trailer, in order to find the correct seal, you can take apart your hub assembly and use a digital caliper and measure your spindle to the thousandths of an inch where the seal rides. You can use the photo I've attached to see exactly where you need to measure. For example, Seal # 58846 has a 1.719" inner diameter while Seal # 10-9 has an inner diameter that measures 1.500". We do not have a seal that matches the inner and outer diameter you have provided. That being said, I believe the markings on the seal actually indicate that your ID is 1.25" and our OD is 1.979". Your measurements are incredibly close to this so you may want to double check to be sure. From my research, I have found that the Double Lip Grease Seal - ID 1.249" / OD 1.983" - Qty 1 # 34823 is interchangeable with a seal that is sometimes marked as the 12192TB with an ID of 1.25" and OD...

  • What Replacement Grease Seals do I Need for 44646 Bearings and 44610 Races?
In order to know what grease seals you need, it depends on if your bearing 44649 is on both the inner and outer bearing or just the outer bearing alone. If you determine that both the inner outer bearing is numbered 44649, the correct replacement grease seals you need is the # 10-9. If, however, just the outer bearing reads 44649, the correct grease seal you need is the # 58846.

  • How to Measure to Identify Correct Replacement Grease Seal
First, make certain that your new seal has the exact same part number or dimensions as your old one. Seals come in many sizes and can differ as little as a few thousandths of an inch. That small diameter change can mean the difference between a good fit and no fit. Two seals that may appear identical in size to the naked eye could still have slightly different dimensions. It is not reliable to use an old seal to match up to a new one since over time they can become deformed. If you can...

  • How to Pick Out a Replacement Trailer Grease Seal
Since the inner diameter of a grease seal is soft rubber it can be hard to get an exact measurement of it, or if it has worn out it may not be accurate.
