Trailer Hub Grease Seal

by:

This seal fit my particular axel, and was an easy installation. A caution: There are two different I.d.s required for 7K axles. One is 2.125" I.D. the other is 2.250" ID. I had to measure the axel then place my order, but I'm sure there is a way to determine prior to disassembly when ordering using serial #.

The Seal Fit perfectly in my ’69 Dexter Axle Mobile Home Hub

Scott S.

7/28/2020

The bearings I purchased for my 1969 mobile home axle that I use on my log slitter are working flawlessly.

by:

Perfect fit. Easy to install, I recommend buying extras just incase in gets tweaked or bent during installation or removal. My seal removal tool bent the seal up too bad to use again.

by:

It took 12 days from order date to delivery day. Same thing with trailer lights before. I bitched and they said I should have had it shipped a quicker way. How about sending it faster instead of blaming usps. Never again waiting for the junk.

by:

Proof is in the pudding, but I don't see any reason why these seals should not work well.

by:

Perfect fit and rolling with my fifth w heel

by:

the install was easy and they are holding up just fine. Not used many times but so far all is good.

by:

Diana did a great job helping me cross reference the seal number I had. The 4 seals arrived within a day (helps that I live in Missouri). We will see how they hold up in my 5th wheel travel trailer!!

Thanks

by:

I have several trips since installation and have had no problems.etrailer sent correct parts in reasonable time. Good service.

by:

Perfect match love etrailer knowing they have parts for my camper and delivery is fast will continue to order from them.

by:

Product arrived in record time, and it’s just what I needed.

by:

Good product

by:

The parts were all the right ones and most were Dexter oem parts. The only problem I had was putting the bolts in the frame end of the spring perch. It was easier to take the spring loose from the axle, put the bolt in ,then bolt it back to the axle. I intend to buy all of my future trailer parts from etrailer.

I have nothing but good things to say about the seals, and working with etrailer. George is one of the few folks in this business who reaches out to make sure customers are satisfied. The seals were exactly what I ordered, arrived as promised, and are good quality seals.

I have owned boats for 35 years, and trailer to the river to boat, and have now owned 5 different boat/trailer sets. In that time, I have never found a wheel seal that actually prevents water from getting in. I have every type of bearing buddy, have packed marine grease in against the bearing buddy springs...nothing works. So, being able to get these seals supports my yearly ritual of popping the wheels off every year, cleaning everything up, replacing bearings as needed, and off we go. It is the price of boating, and prevents being the guy along the freeway with the family in the car and smoke rolling out of the wheel.

Thanks, George, for being a connected and caring dealer. You are the last of a dying breed. You have won my business for life.

Seals are working as expected ... they dont keep the water out, but Ive never met a seal that did :-. The double lip does slow the flow down a bit. Good seals, good price.

by:

Fast delivery. Easy ordering

by:

Seals were the exact match and shipped fast.

by:

I've got about 12,000 miles on my new Rockwood Windjammer 3029, so it's time to remove, inspect, clean and repack my wheel bearings. This requires new rear seals, so I ordered them thru etrailer. Package came in sooner than expected, and was in good shape. The rear grease seals look identical to the "Dexter" stamped seals that came on the trailer, except for the Dexter name and logo. They installed just as expected, and now I'm ready for the next 12,000 miles.

after one year, seals are still performing as expected, no problems.

by:

Always like ordering from etrailer they seem to always have what I need when needed. Quick delivery with no complaints.

by:

I have a boat trailer that requires wheel bearings and seals periodically. It is 20 years old but I easily found replacements at etrailer.com. I bookmarked the parts so I can get them easily next time. Noticed that the original bearings were made in England, the recent ones are made in China and are of equivalent excellent quality. Delivery was prompt, packing very good.
Good retailer.

by:

All parts ordered to replace a complete brake system on a 25-year-old boat trailer fit perfectly. Ashly from etrailer was very knowledgeable regarding are needs. Thank you!

by:

I used these seals on my triple axle boat trailer that gets submerged 15 times a season. I remove the hubs every fall to remove any water that gets in. The seals with Lucas oil red grease keep all the water out. 1st time in ten years I didn’t have to clean out milky grease and relube.

by:

I had a 5x8 utility trailer that I repacked the wheel bearings on, and needed to replace the grease seals. These worked great, were high quality, and fit perfectly.

by:

The grease seal worked great on a trailer wheel that was growling when spun. Spin it now and it is silent.

My trailer is working perfectly well thank you. Its something I use only on occasion and very useful then.

Dexter is a good name and has been around for many years. I have installed numerous brakes and a few axles all without any headaches. The Dexter website is also full of information to help with installation and operation of their products. What I am really impressed with is etrailer.com. Their customer service is the best I have dealt with on the web. There is actually someone on the other end of the phone if I have a question. They also called me when my order was going to be delayed and offered suggestions to get around the delay. Good folks to work with.

by:

Great quality replacement seal. Form fit and function as expected.

  • Replacement Grease Seal for a 5013/29772
I was not able to reference the grease seal "5013/29772". We may still have a replacement for you but I would need you to measure either the inner diameter (I.D.) and outer diameter (O.D.) of the grease seal or the part of the spindle where the grease seal sits and the inner diameter of the hub where the grease seal is located. These measurements will need to be taken with a digital caliper to the nearest thousandth of an inch. Once you find these measurements, I would be happy to see...

  • How to Pick Out Replacement Grease Seal
To pick out a replacement grease seal you will need to measure the diameter of the spindle where the grease seal rides with a digital or dial caliper and then need to measure the hub bore where the current seal rides. With those two dimensions we can pick out the correct seal that you would need. I attached a link to a page that has all of the grease seals we carry. You will need to select your inner and outer diameter from the filters on the page and the correct seals will be listed....

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Brakes Not Locking Up With a 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 Factory Brake Controller
The integrated brake controller on your 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 does not offer any kind of electrical booster that you can add to the controller. First you may need to isolate that the problem is either with the Sierra or the trailer. The easiest way to do this is by pulling the emergency break away cable and seeing if it causes your brakes to lock up properly. If the brakes still do not lock up your 5th wheel may need to have the magnets inspected or replaced(see article below). If the...

  • 2017 GD Reflection 303 Grease Seal
Lippert 5,200 lb trailer axles are odd as some of them have a grease seal surface on the spindle that is 2.125 inches and some have the 2.25 inch diameter. So your best option is to pull your hub off and measure the spindle where the seal rides to determine if you need the part # GS-2125DL for 2.125 inch or the # GS-2250DL for 2.25 inch.

We do have the seals that you need. For your 7,000 lb. Dexter Axle, the grease seal will either be the # GS-2125DL or the # GS-2250DL. The difference is the inner diameter of the seal. The # 10-36 has an inner diameter of 2.250" and the # GS-2125DL has an inner diameter of 2.125". To verify which seal you need, you can either look for the number on your current seals or measure your spindle where the grease seal rides.

The # GS-2250DL has an inner diameter of 2.250" and the # GS-2125DL has an inner diameter of 2.125". If you have the axle tag information Dexter should be able to identify the axle. If it cannot be identified for some reason, the only option would be to remove the seal and look for a part number or measure.

  • How to Measure Trailer Spindle on Axle to Identify Correct Grease Seal
The inner bearing # 25580 is found on axles rated from 5200 to 7000-lbs and there are two grease seals commonly used with it. Both seals share the same outer diameter of 3.376-inches to match the hub's bore but they will have either of two different inner diameters, either 2.125-inches or 2.250-inches. Based on my research it appears your seal part has the smaller inner diameter so you can use grease seal part # GS-2125DL. Part # GS-2250DL has the larger inner diameter. If you want to...

  • What is the Correct Axle Grease Seal for the Dexter 12 X 2 Brake Hub and Drum
It sounds like you have selected the correct grease seal, # GS-2250DL, for your spindle and Dexter hub. The 3.376 outer diameter matches your hub and because the rubber inner part of the seal has to create a tight seal, to keep grease in and road grime out, the slightly smaller diameter is most likely correct. I am sure that if you measured the seal bearing surface, see photo, on your spindle you would get the proper measurement of 2.25 inches. If you are using bearing protectors or your...

There are two common grease seals used on 7,000 lbs axles, part # GS-2250DL which has a 2.250" inner diameter and part # GS-2125DL which has a 2.125" inner diameter. The former is more common and used on newer trailers. They are both double lip seals which hold grease in better.

  • Do Dexter and Lippert 7k Axles Use the Same Bearings
Yes, Lippert and Dexter 7k axles use exact same bearings. The only issue you might run into is a difference in grease seal size required. There are two sizes of grease seals that fit 7k axles and there isn't a rhyme or reason as to which you may have/need. So if the spindle diameter if 2.2250 inch where the seal rides the correct seal you would need is the part # GS-2250DL or if it's 2.125 inch you'd instead need the part # GS-2125DL.
