This is one of our favorite brake controllers, with a tiny dash knob that looks like it came straight from the factory. It's easy to adjust your settings or activate manual override. It brakes so nicely it's like you're not even towing.
Adjusting the braking settings on the Tow-Pro Liberty is super simple. To get more power output - the maximum amount of power that will be applied to your trailer's brakes - rotate the knob clockwise toward 10. To decrease the power output, rotate it counterclockwise toward 0.
When you apply the tow vehicle's brakes, the knob will change from blue to red to signal that the trailer brakes are being activated. The higher the braking power output, the deeper the red that you will see.
To engage manual override, simply press the control knob. This will activate the trailer's brakes and brake lights independent of your tow vehicle, great for stopping sway or controlling your trailer's momentum in an emergency.
When you are calibrating the brake controller for the first time, the LED lights will signal your progress.
You'll start by braking 20 times or so to let the unit learn its orientation and the direction of travel. You don't need to have a trailer connected for it to calibrate; the only difference is that the knob won't illuminate at all. If your trailer is connected, the LED light will flash green/blue as it calibrates. When the display turns solid blue, initial calibration is complete.
Once done, the unit will remain calibrated. If recalibration is required, it will happen automatically and without LED indication.
The Liberty has almost no mounting restrictions. It comes in 2 pieces: the main unit and the control knob. The main unit mounts out of sight and out of the way. You don't have to worry about dinging your knee on a bulky brake controller or interfering with your vehicle's airbags.
The control knob can be installed in any convenient spot that's easy for you to see and access. This can be a blank switch panel, an open spot on your center console, or wherever there's space on your dashboard. A universal mounting panel is included to ensure a clean, from-the-factory look. Custom-fit panels are available for certain vehicles as well. Before you do any drilling, be sure there's enough clearance behind the dash for the entire knob to install!
Once you've decided where you want to put the control knob, you'll need to find a good place to install the main unit. Your only restriction is the 3' cable connecting the main unit and the control knob. Securely mount the box using screws, double-sided tape, or zip-ties (not included). A mounting kit (RE67FR - sold separately) is also available for the Tow-Pro Liberty. Do not attach the module to wiring or cables that can shift as you drive!
The included wiring harness hardwires into your vehicle's wiring and then plugs directly into the main unit. For assistance in properly wiring the Tow-Pro Liberty, please refer to the diagrams below:
Proportional braking means that your trailer brakes mimic your tow vehicle's brakes. If you slam on the brakes in your vehicle, your trailer brakes will activate with the same intensity; if you brake lightly, your trailer brakes lightly too. The trailer's braking is in proportion to your vehicle's braking. This saves wear and tear on the tires and the brakes on both your vehicle and trailer.
The Tow-Pro Liberty uses an internal 3-axis accelerometer to sense how your vehicle is braking so it can send the right amount of braking power to your trailer. It measures the inertia of your tow vehicle and activates the trailer's brakes to slow at the same rate. The result is uniform braking across your towing setup. No push-pull action - just smooth, proportional braking every time.

This is one of our favorite brake controllers, with a tiny dash knob that looks like it came straight from the factory. It's easy to adjust your settings or activate manual override. It brakes so nicely it's like you're not even towing.Install was simple and it doesn't encroach on your leg space other than the manual button. My wife didn't want a brake controller box hanging down on the knee bolster so this is a great alternative for her tahoe.
Installed in a 2015 Chevrolet Express. The installation was pretty straight forward, especially since I'd already done the grunt work of the wiring while waiting for the controller to come in the mail, so it was just connecting 4 wires, mounting the box up under the dash and drilling a couple holes for the dial/light (decided to put it next to the 120AC plug on the dash) and plugging it all in. Still in the market for a trailer, but now I should be ready to go when I find what I'm looking for.
The Dash Knob needs to be redesigned. I broke the lighting tube and will need a new dash knob. I cannot see any light from it so I don't know if the system is working/calibrating. I cannot push the button in so that function is not working. I found a good spot to mount the controller unit under my dash. I did watch your video installing the unit on a Colorado. I have a 2019 Colorado with a trailering package but it did not come with a brake controller.

David, it is good spot to mount the control knob. We will be in touch with you about getting a new knob, which is part # RED57FR on our site. Watch for an email from us.
Installed perfectly with the factory adapter, I had to solder one wire as my kit was slightly different for my 2015 Tacoma, but worked perfectly pulling a trailer from Ohio to New York. Would not pull a trailer without a break controller as I had zero trailer sway. Also installed the same controller in a 2017 Sequoia, factory kit fit perfectly. Pulled a trailer from Ohio to Kansas and back, again zero trailer sway. This is a great alternative to a factory installed controller.

Kevin, I am so happy to hear you had a great experience with the Red Arc brake controller. This one of our favorites too.
Went together very easily. Looks great in the truck, the knob matches well with the factory controls next to it. The YouTube video: etrailer | Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller Installation - 2022 Chevrolet Colorado by Aiden was a GREAT help. Thanks
Awesome product! I installed this in my 2021 Subaru Outback Onyx XT. I mounted it in my spare tire wheel well (see pictures). Full Disclosure: The way I installed it took a lot of effort and required some custom fabrication and cable routing. I use two waterproof 30amp blade fuse holders, one independently powers the trailer 7-Pin and the other independently powers the Brake Controller (both power cables run together from the engine compartment back to the trailer hitch harness (note that I previously installed the OEM trailer Hitch Mount w/OEM harness, and a custom touch for the 7-pin upgrade). From the Redarc dash knob I ran a 12ft Cat 6E Shielded Plenum Rated Premium Custom Ethernet Patch Cable to the controller and tapped into the third brake-light circuit using Redarc's Encapsulated Power Diode - you absolutely need this diode. I could not be happier with the form, fit and function of this product and enjoy showing off my custom installation whenever the topic comes up >Big Smile<. Also, I plan to add a video to my Stickler-ish channel soon.
Box is hidden behind the dash and the knob looks clean on the dash. Haven't hooked up to a trailer yet, see how that goes.
Performs well in my Ford Ranger pulling a 5500 lb trailer
I have a 2021 Rav4 Prime. I removed a blank cover from the dash (pictured) and used my dremel tool to modify it so that the control switch would fit into it. I used RJ45 (eithernet) cable to go to the control box I mounted in the back near the battery. If I did not have the blank cover I would have used the Redarc swt insert that can be purchased separately.
The brake controller works very well. Originally I had a Curt that I was hitting my knee on and switched to the Redarc. The only little complaint is that I wish the led light were a little brighter, other than that works great on my 2014 Ram 1500.
Best brake control I ever purchased. Easy to install less than 30 minutes. With the finger touch adjustment the braking is very smooth and even.
Great brake controller! Easy install with help from video on the etrailer site. Very clean look after installation.
Just finished installation. Pretty straightforward, easy directions. Haven't used it yet.
The Redarc brake controller has continued to perform well. Super easy installation, simple operation, and consistent performance make this a great choice for any vehicle.
Everything plugged together properly. I have giant hands so it was a pain to install in the back of the dash but I managed. I can't work on anything without bleeding at least a little and this was no different.

Product has done what it was supposed to every time I press the brakes. No issues at all.
This brake controller works nicely. A bit touchy in first adjusting the brakes but all went well.
I put this on a 1998 Chevy 2500 long bed. I like that when you push the button to test your brakes. It applies the brakes at what you have it set at. I like the factory look and it was easy to install.
WORKED GREAT FOR THE APPLICATION OUR CUSTOMER HAD
Easy to install in my Subaru Ascent. Works well
Received as described. Probably works as it should but couldn't get the unit to calibrate. Later found out that the unit doesn't calibrate to some electric/hydraulic brake systems due to the lag in response time. They recommend calibrating it to an all electric brake system prior to use on an Electric/hydraulic system. This just added another layer to what I was doing. See Manufactures comments below that I found through troubleshooting research.
"REDARC engineers are currently exploring potential upgrades to the Tow-Pro to allow calibration to work with trailers using these Electric / Hydraulic systems. In the meantime, the current solution to this issue is to calibrate the Tow-Pro installation using a trailer with Standard Electric Brakes first."
A 5 stars service and delivery. Canadien custom add 40$ CAD. On my 2023 Honda Passport TrailSport the break connector is about 3 inch above the OBD2 connector. You will need the universal connector sold by etrailer. The coller code are not the same has the one l got from Honda Canada. I followed the instructions and it went well. The controller was place behind the plastic cover left of the parking break pedal. Thank you and have fun.
Relatively easy install on my 2013 Toyota Prius V. Works great too. Got brake signal from small blue wire (22Ga??) behind panel at driver's left foot.
Install was a little harder than I’d wish but results are fantastic I installed it into a 2016 Vw Tourage TDI and used the harness in the pic from my vw dealer
Excellent product which is great that it is hidden away.
Haven’t installed yet but just as descr ibed.
