Have had these brakes on the trailer for one year, and we have put approximately 4500 miles on them. They have performed flawlessly.

Absolutely no problems with these after another year with 2000 more miles on them.

purchased 2 set of these 10" electric brake kits for my 4.4k axles, very hard to find but talked with etrailer said they could help me out and had them in 3 days. AWESOME.However upon mounting them and installing the drum, realized the new mounting plate was 1/4' to 3/8" thicker than the old one not allowing the drum to go on far enough before hitting brake pad bracket. Had to remove new pads, springs, magnet and adjuster and mount to old bracket for it to work. was not as cut and dried as i thought it would be, hopefully i can get a little refund for the new mounting plate that i could not use.

Simple way to replace your brakes on trailer. Everything is new, springs, brake pads, etc. Highly recommended.

All the parts have arrived earlier than predicted. Thanks for the help finding the correct parts I needed.

I was extremely surprised with the positive response with their customer service, error on my part ordering the wrong part. Extremely quick delivery exchange (2days) living on the Canadian West Coast.
The brakes are doing their job great, easy installation using etrailer tutorial videos. Great company will use again.

  • Brakes Will Not Stop Trailer After New Backing Plates and Adjusting
Yes, it is possible that the brakes are not powerful enough to stop the trailer. However, if you have the correct braking assemblies that match the axle capacity then this should not be a problem so long as the trailer is not overloaded. That said, the 3,500 lb braking assemblies and some 4,400 lb braking assemblies have the same 4 bolt pattern and 10" x 2-1/4" dimensions so you could try these higher rated assemblies out to see if they can help stop the trailer, the Dexter Electric Brake...

  • Parts Needed to Replace Electric Brakes on 2006 Jayco 12HW
Since your drums are designed for 10" brakes, and it looks like you've got a 4400-lbs Dexter axle on your 2006 Jayco 12HW the replacement brakes you're looking for are the Dexter Electric Brake Kit for 4.4K Axles Manufactured Before May 2009 - 10" - Left/Right Hand # 23-454-455.

  • Replacement Brake Assemblies for Dexter Axles on TrailKing TK8U
Since we know you have a Dexter axle setup and the current assemblies are 10 inch by 2-1/4 inch we know that the correct brake assemblies you'd need are the # 23-468-469 for a set that includes a left and a right which are self-adjusting. The part number # 23-454-455 would be if you had the older 4,400 lb axles which are quite a bit rarer. Measure the diameter of the axle and if it's 2-3/8 inch that would verify it's a 3,500 lb axle and correct kit would be # 23-468-469.

  • Dexter 10 x 2-1/4 Inch Brake Assembly with Different Bolt Hole Spacing
A 10 x 2-1/4 inch brake assembly would typically be found on a 3500 lb axle, and would use a 4 bolt mounting flange whose holes are 2-7/8 inches apart on center. However, there was an exception. Before May of 2009, Dexter manufactured a 4400 lb capacity axle that used mounting flanges that had holes that were 2-13/16 inches on center. An example of those would be the # 23-454-455 Dexter Brake assemblies. That axle was kind of an oddity, I believe Dexter built that as a proprietary item...

  • 4,400 lb Self-Adjusting Brakes for Fifth Wheel Trailer
Thank you for the photos, though there is only one measurement there so it would be very difficult for me to tell you exactly what you currently have. That said, the most important measurement you can take is of your brake mounting flange, and I would be very surprised if the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 4.4K # K23-478-479 don't work for you. The bolt hole measurements of these brakes need to match up with your brake mounting flange,...

  • Replacement Trailer Brakes for 2014 Forest River With 4,400 lb Axle Rating
For the 4,400 lb rated axles on your 2014 Forest River Wildwood 29QBDS I recommend checking out the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # K23-478-479. So long as you have a a 4-bolt brake mounting flange and a drum that fits the 10" diameter x 2-1/4" wide brake assemblies as well as wheels that are 13", 14", 14-1/2", and 15, these electric brakes willl work for you. They are rated for 4,400 lb axles like yours, are self-adjusting, and the kit comes with the left and right hand...

  • Replacement Electric Brakes for 4,200 lb Axle on Coachmen Apex Nano Trailer
Though I would not be able to answer for parts that are on your trailer now, it is a good idea for your brakes to match your axle's weight capacity. As for a replacement, I could not find a reference to the brakes you have now, and the only replacements that fit a 10" x 2-1/4" drum have a 4-bolt mounting flange or a very specific 4-bolt flange with 2.83" x 2.83" spacing. Since the brake kit you referenced has a 4-bolt flange do you have 2.83" x 2.83" spacing or need a different size?

  • Recommended Dexter Electric Drum Brakes for 4000-lb Axles on 5th Wheel Trailer
We have electric drum brakes rated for 4400-lb axles (and hydraulic drum brakes rated for 3750- and 5200-lb axles) but none rated for exactly 4000-lbs. For electric drum brakes in the 10 x 2-1/4-inch size for a 5th wheel the 4400-lb-rated brakes will be fine. I suggest using Dexter kit # K23-462-463-00 which is a left- and right-hand set of manual-adjust brakes with the 4-bolt mounting pattern. These work with trailer wheels from 13- to 15-inches. When you install the new brakes either...

  • 4,400 lb Electric Brakes for Lippert Axle With 2-7/8 Inch Center to Center Brake Flange
That is odd that your brake mounting flange for your 4,400 lb axles would not work with 4,400 lb Electric Brakes # K23-478-479, seeing as your axle was manufactured in 2015. They should have the bolt pattern that matches and unfortunately I don't have an answer to your question as to why. The only thing I can think of that may work is the Dexter Electric Brake Kit for 4.4K Axles Manufactured Before May 2009 # 23-454-455. These are designed to fit a mounting flange that has bolt holes...

  • Replacement Electric Brakes for a Dexter 4,400 Pound Trailer Axle
There should be a tag or information stamped into the axle. It sounds like you have the D44 axle which is a 4,400 pound Dexter axle. If it was made after May 1, 2009 then Dexter lists brakes # K23-462-463-00 as the correct brakes for the axle. If the axle was made before May 1, 2009 then the correct brakes are # 23-454-455.

  • Choosing the Correct 10 x 2-1/4 Inch Electric Brakes
The brakes need to fit the axle. Or more specifically the hubs and the brake mounting flanges on the axle. One thing that may be confusing you is that brake assemblies for 4,400 pound axles and those for 3,500 pound axles are both 10 x 2-1/4 inches. The difference will be the brake mounting flange bolt hole pattern. If your axle is a indeed a 3,500 pound axle # AKEBRK-35-SA will work for you. The mounting bolts are included but you need part # BRKH10B for the nuts and lock washers. If...

  • Replacements Needed For A 2007 Lippert 4,400 Pound Trailer Axle
We definitely have the replacements needed for your Lippert 4,400 pound axle. Knowing it is a 2007 model axle helps as the brakes will be specific to axles prior to May 2009. With that said, you will need the Dexter Electric Brake Kit for 4.4K Axles # 23-454-455. This will replace both the right and left side brakes and will bolt right up. For the bearings, we do have what you need separately, but as this is a fairly uncommon size axle, we do not have an inclusive package. I have the inner...
