Everything fit just right wired up just fine takes a little while to break these things in but once they start biting they work really nice I did a little bit more than just replace the brakes I did the shocks, springs and equalizer then re-painted everything underneath too, pretty much rebuilt the entire suspension sure makes a difference. I'm including some before and after pictures here they're probably out of order but them's the berries folks !

Good prices. Order filled and shipped quickly. I had to repair the R side backing plate. The self adjust cable came off and one shoe was on improperly. The keeper for the magnet wires was missing, so I had to use one from my old backing plate. I think maybe that backing plate was a return. I don’t like giving a below average review but what it is.

I was replacing the 20 year old electric brakes on my utility trailer and choose the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust electric trailer brake kit. The non Dexter brand cost less but after adding shipping and adding the nut kit they were the same as the Dexter brakes with free shipping and the nuts were included with the Dexter kit. This was one the easiest projects I have ever done. I had recently replaced the bearings so getting the brake drum off was a breeze. I used butt connectors with the heat shrink insulation wot connect the power to the bakes. I had thought this would be a two day project but did both sides in about 3 hours. And best of all, the new brakes function as they should, it was like I did not have electric brakes before. Again an easy and well worth it project.

Comments
It has been a year since I installed the Nev-R-Adjust electric trailer brakes and they are still doing a great job. In October Hurricane Michael struck and I have used the utility trailer more than I ever anticipated and have had zero problems from the brakes. Moving equipment & debris became a daily task.

Well the products I ordered are OEM Dexter, so no problem with the parts. Now packaging by etrailer was sub par. All 104 pounds just loosely thrown into a big box. Box was bursting open and parts of the drum caps were dented and missing.

These brake assemblies were an exact fit for my Dexter Axle. The kit came with everything needed to change it out, including the bolts to attach the brake backing plate. Very straightforward instructions. Fast shipping. I would recommend E-Trailer for any parts.

Comments
I recently removed the brake drums to check the brake pad wear and found the pads to be wearing evenly and no adjustment was needed. Self adjusting brakes are the way to go as an easy upgrade to the brake system.

Ordering process was easy and etrailer.com gives you lots of tools to help ensure you're buying the right parts. Only issue on this order was the boxes for the drums were broken open and the bags for hardware for both were ripped so the hardware was scattered in the boxes. No damage to any of the parts and was all accounted for. I'd blame Dexter on this one though. etrailer's box that contained the Dexter boxes was darn strong. Probably the beefiest box ever delivered to my house. Dexter needs to up their game.

Don’t trust the website to be correct when you put in your camper, I have a 2018 Forest River rockwood freedom 1980 that if you read through the description far enough shows 2.25” width, but turns out I need 1.5” width. I didn’t realize this now I have to pay $[XX] to return my order & the smaller correct brakes are some how $[XX] more, I feel duped.

Good product. I'm a mechanic and I purchased these brakes when installing a third axle to our tandem car hauler. Their construction is good, solid quality components. My initial reaction to these automatic adjusting brakes was that they adjust too tight. This means too much drag when not in use and too quick to respond when used. (i.e., "touchy brakes") I've been a mechanic for longer than I'd like to admit and I'm pretty comfortable adjusting trailer brakes, I do it on a daily basis. These were too tight but better that than not tight enough. I don't recall if the tension is adjustable. After a year of hauling of loads of all sizes they're still the tightest of the three axles, the other two are manual. (because after 10 years of spectacular service they only needed magnets and drums which were done at the same time as the third axle) It's not a huge difference, most people wouldn't notice unless they have more than one axle and the other brakes are not the same which you shouldn't do anyway. (yeah, I know.) So for me now that it's time to check everything for annual inspection I will see how the shoe/drum wear compares and decide to upgrade the others or downgrade these. After all, I said I'm good at adjusting brakes, not that I want to. These are good brakes, you won't be disappointed.

One of the easiest brake jobs you'll have to do. Squirt a little WD40 on old nuts, or something similar, and let sit a while. Disconnect wires, undo nuts, pull assembly off. Put new assembly on, make sure they are on correct side( it matters, watch video). I ordered the nut and lock washer set, just to be sure. These came with just the nut, so you could get the washers separately. Tighten nuts to proper torque, as stated in directions, connect wires, and done. I also ordered the plug kit for adjustment window. You need two per side. These did come with them, but good for me that I ordered more, as one arrived chopped in half. Can't knock points off for that.

Received my order within 5 days of ordering-I was kept informed as to the status of my order on a regular basis. Parts fit my trailer perfectly-3 hours total and I had new electric brakes on all 4 wheels of my trailer! Totally satisfied!!!

I built a utility trailer with my son from a 10K weigh capacity boat trailer and wanted to finish it properly. Bearings, hubs and drums arent an area to skimp on when building a trailer but where does a person find the RIGHT replacement parts. My local hardware and big box stores offer off brand replacement parts but of what quality and I'm still guessing as to proper replacement. I called etrailer and boy am I glad I had a micrometer handy. Their customer service walked me through all measurements and I'm assured the best quality products that will stand the test of time. I am grateful for their expertise and assured of quality. Thank you

The Dexter brake assembly is a complete unit, with new mounting hardware. Well worth the money for this unit. The hubs, ordered at the same time, included everything but a new washer for the outside bearing. I was able to use the existing. Only complaint was that both bearings, lock washer, new nut, and ez lube dust cover were loose in the box, with one of the dust covers smashed. I used an old one, but it seems a poor way to ship.

Very helpful over the phone ordering the correct break assemblys. The breaks arrived a day early so I was able to install them before I left for work which was nice. OTR Driver! Installing complete assemblys helped make the job faster and knowing I have all new parts vs just break shoes helps to insure me I'll have long life with the breaks on my trailer! The fit was great and new nuts were provided to mount the back plate to the axle! Very happy with the entire process from ordering to completion of the install! When needed will order again from etrailer! Thanks!

So wonderful to have brakes automatically adjusted instead of doing it manually and wondering if all four wheels have equal braking. I know what happens when one brakes more than the others: over-heating and failed wheel bearings. Not fun.
