The unique free-backing design, patented by DICO, lets your trailer move in reverse without actuating the brakes. When you begin backing up, the brake shoes are firm against the drum, as in a braking situation. As you continue in reverse, however, the shoes turn with the drum until the lining pressure is released and you are able to back up freely.
These brakes are designed to eliminate friction between the shoes and drum when you are driving in reverse. A trailer breakaway kit will not be effective should your trailer disconnect from your tow vehicle when backing up.

Fit most 10", 12" or 13" wheels.My one gripe with this set of brakes is that the bleeder valve is a bit short and small, and that makes it difficult to access the bleeder between the two bolts that hold the wheel cylinders in place. Other than that, they were a direct replacement and while they don't accept a banjo fitting like the originals, I was able to flare out a set of brake lines and made 'em work.
I think they're a good value.
Wheel cylinder was seized and grease seal had leaked,soaking the shoes and everything else. Four nuts and a break line to remove made replacement easy. Replaced seal too. Picture of before and a couple after.

These are identical replacement brakes for my trailer, which I have been having a hard time finding. Simply remove the old brake plate and install the new. Very simple, and made with high quality parts, such as stainless steel springs. I believe these brakes will last for a long time. I am completely satisfied.
Excellent replacement for brake plate assembly. Unusual sizing parts I could not find locally and pricing is excellent . Customer service is excellent you can easily speak with someone on the phone about your parts or shipping. I had a problem with one of the components and notified them they immediately sent a replacement no questions asked. I highly recommend for trailer parts.
Very nicely engineered, because there are two brake adjusters on each side I used a sharpie and marked the back side with arrows for the correct direction to expand them, nice to have brakes that unlock in reverse automatically
