Quick Tip: There's really not a whole lot to getting new drum brakes. If you've confirmed that all of the specs listed above line up with what you need for your trailer, you can be pretty sure these will work for you.
These pads are SAE certified. As a result, this material provides high-performance braking, and is safe for use throughout the United States and Canada.
These pads are also tapered, which should help to prevent any broken, crumbly bits of material from rotating inside the drum as the pads wear over time. Brakes without these tapers are more likely to create a jarring braking experience that could cause the brakes to stutter and lock up.
Riveted brake pads will always give you a screeching reminder to replace your brake shoes. That's because the rivets will scrape against your drum as the friction material wears down. You won't have that noisy problem with bonded brake pads. You'll also get a little more friction pad contact because there aren't any cutouts for rivets. And more friction means more stopping power.
With typical electric brake assemblies, you need to manually adjust them every now and then to make sure you're getting the shortest stopping distances every time you tow.
With self-adjusting brakes, though, you'll always have peak stopping power - simple as that! As the brake pads wear over time, a tensioning cable will automatically keep the pads in alignment so they'll consistently make contact with your drum when you brake. You won't have to do tedious manual adjustments anymore.
Once you get these brakes installed, you'll need to break them in. First, find a long stretch of road or a big, empty parking lot. Once you're there, set your brake controller to its maximum setting and get moving. Speed up to about 40 mph and brake to slow to about 20 mph. Repeat this 15-30 times. The goal is to get the brake shoes and magnet properly seated into your drum. You'll know you've done that when it feels less jerky (and more consistent) each time you apply the brakes.
Note: The brakes will be very hot after doing this, so after every 10 stops you'll want to wait about 10 minutes to let the brakes cool off before continuing. If you don't, you might cook and crack the pad material.

Be aware that you'll have to apply the brakes quite a few times to allow the self adjusters to adjust the brakes. Don't forget to purchase new grease seals which you will have to replace if you decide to clean and repack the wheel bearings.
Product is outstanding. Everything is solid, packaged very well. Quick delivery. Great communication with e-mails & tracking. Videos explaining electric brakes & ease of installation is the reason I decided to do this myself.
Only issue/suggestion mark the assemblies LEFT/RIGHT. Some of us amateur mechanics need every help we can get. Thanks
The pair of these brake setups were just what I needed. I have a 10k dual axle enclosed car hauler with about 8k miles on it. The brakes seemed to have basically come apart with the adjusters falling out. These were direct bolt on replacements. Very good price and a very quick install, just 5 nuts and 2 wires to deal with per wheel. I did all 4 wheels with no issues. I did go ahed and regrease the wheels so that added a little time, but definitely a good idea. Worked perfectly and seem like they'll last. Looking forward to putting some miles on these.
I purchased these brakes per etrailer recommendation for my 5th wheel. They were received correctly and installed correctly. They were tested electrically and mechanically adjusted correctly. The brakes had very little stopping power. I did several stop and go so called auto adjust procedures and still little or no stopping power. I contacted etrailer. The rep asked me to check them again for proper electrical function, I did, check them for proper mechanical adjustment, they were properly adjusted. After several conversations with the rep. I gave up. While in florida, I had a near miss with these as they would not stop still. I continued my email messaging with the rep. Still no correction. These brakes are junk and etrailer did not offer a resolution. I suppose they will answer to a lawyer after an accident.
I ordered this kit with a drum and the drum beat these shoes up pretty bad in shipping. I will have to partially disassemble, make adjustments, and reassemble before installation and the wiring on one of the brakes looks bad enough I will have to try to replace. The product might be ok, but the shipping was extremely poor--they don't even come boxed individually, just thrwon in a much larger box with other parts.
The package arrived a little torn up but not too bad. I opened the package and found the product damaged. The problem was very poor padding to protect the product. I threw all of the product in the garbage and ordered the things I needed from a different company. I'm out $[XX]. I doubt I will ever order from your company again.
First time it was to ship order, When call in I was told that it would be expedited beck I was waiting and had to cancel a rv trip. Final received assemblies and had to put two of the assemblies back together.Suring shipping the came apart. I worked four hours putting brakes back together. The second customer service employee had real bad attitude.
Good shipping 1 brake assembly damaged had to appart to fix other than that everything went well
They mounted and worked perfectly however in the package the hubs were on top of each other and it cut one of the wires I was able to still use them didn’t have time to return them
These brakes installed simply by 5 bolts and measure the width for perfect brake adjustment. Easy installation and followed the instructions to the Tee.
Perfect from order to install. Great service. Thank you so much etrailer.
Have not installed and used these yet. This review is based on shipping and visual inspection. I’d like to award 5 stars however, the shipping department needs to add a bit more packing material when shipping. Even just a couple more layers of cardboard would help. The brakes arrived undamaged but the brake shoes had jump out of their notches from shipping. A smack with a plastic mallet snapped things back in place and all seems well. Visually these brakes look just like the Dexter brand so I suspect they will perform as well.
The phone support is excellent. I had some technical questions and they were able to help me.
Just as described. The install was easy and they work perfectly
Working perfectly
Ordering was painless, Paul assisted me with accurate information about the correct brakes to order.
Ordered in the morning and received the next day by noon.
Great service.
so easy, and fast
They were delivered BEAT TO SHIT. it’s all because of your poor packaging. The brake pads were off. The automatic adjuster cables fell off and one of the cable anchor points was mangled. On top of that there were no instructions, no torque specs either. Good luck finding them on the manufacturer's website either. I hope this crap actually works and doesn’t put me into a guardrail next weekend.

I am sorry to hear that this arrived in bad condition. I have sent your information over to our customer service department for them to get this corrected for you. They should also be able to assist you with the correct torque specifications along with any missing instructions.
Brake assembly is good if you are looking for value, however as other reviews have mentioned the shipping packaging is not the best, mine arrived with the brake shoes chipped up from being stacked on top of one another with no protection. I contacted customer service and they did offer to reship another set with about a week turn around time, or a refund with about a 7-14 day refund time. I had to install the damaged shoes because of time restrictions
Worked great! Perfect replacement for our 7 ton equipment trailer brakes that had rusted to the point they wouldnt move. Came fast and work great!
Arrived in record time ane it was just what I needed.
Had no problem ordering the parts and receiving them. Will use etrailer again
Showed up fast but one assembly was apart on arrival. Took some work to get it reassembled but not the end of the world
product was perfect, however they were shipped loose in a large box. Some of the shoes were out of place and one cable needed connected
went on easily

We have traveled numerous trips through the North East as well as a trip to St. Louis since last spring. We just had the camper in for service and the brakes are in great condition.
