I ordered this kit with a drum and the drum beat these shoes up pretty bad in shipping. I will have to partially disassemble, make adjustments, and reassemble before installation and the wiring on one of the brakes looks bad enough I will have to try to replace. The product might be ok, but the shipping was extremely poor--they don't even come boxed individually, just thrwon in a much larger box with other parts.

by:

These brakes installed simply by 5 bolts and measure the width for perfect brake adjustment. Easy installation and followed the instructions to the Tee.

by:

Have not installed and used these yet. This review is based on shipping and visual inspection. I’d like to award 5 stars however, the shipping department needs to add a bit more packing material when shipping. Even just a couple more layers of cardboard would help. The brakes arrived undamaged but the brake shoes had jump out of their notches from shipping. A smack with a plastic mallet snapped things back in place and all seems well. Visually these brakes look just like the Dexter brand so I suspect they will perform as well.

The phone support is excellent. I had some technical questions and they were able to help me.

by:

Replacing the brakes on your camper using this product is the easiest way to upgrade the non-adjustable brake assembly that is typical on most campers. Be aware that you'll have to apply the brakes quite a few times to allow the self adjusters to adjust the brakes. Don't forget to purchase new grease seals which you will have to replace if you decide to clean and repack the wheel bearings.

by:

They were delivered BEAT TO SHIT. it’s all because of your poor packaging. The brake pads were off. The automatic adjuster cables fell off and one of the cable anchor points was mangled. On top of that there were no instructions, no torque specs either. Good luck finding them on the manufacturer's website either. I hope this crap actually works and doesn’t put me into a guardrail next weekend.

I am sorry to hear that this arrived in bad condition. I have sent your information over to our customer service department for them to get this corrected for you. They should also be able to assist you with the correct torque specifications along with any missing instructions.

by:

Brake assembly is good if you are looking for value, however as other reviews have mentioned the shipping packaging is not the best, mine arrived with the brake shoes chipped up from being stacked on top of one another with no protection. I contacted customer service and they did offer to reship another set with about a week turn around time, or a refund with about a 7-14 day refund time. I had to install the damaged shoes because of time restrictions

by:

Worked great! Perfect replacement for our 7 ton equipment trailer brakes that had rusted to the point they wouldnt move. Came fast and work great!

by:

Arrived in record time ane it was just what I needed.

by:

Had no problem ordering the parts and receiving them. Will use etrailer again

by:

Showed up fast but one assembly was apart on arrival. Took some work to get it reassembled but not the end of the world

by:

product was perfect, however they were shipped loose in a large box. Some of the shoes were out of place and one cable needed connected

by:

went on easily

by:

Great service, great reasonably priced products

  • Does TruRyde Electric Trailer Brake Kit # TRU96FR Include a Left and Right Hand Assembly
The TruRyde Electric Trailer Brake Kit # TRU96FR that you referenced is a pair of assemblies that include a left and right assembly. So if you need just a left and a right assembly ordering this part number would get you just that.

  • How Deep Are The Tru Ryde Backing Plates TRU96FR
I took a walk out to our warehouse to measure these TruRyde backing plates # TRU96FR. I have attached a few pictures for your reference. The backing plate is not flat on the back, so I measured from the "deepest" part of the plate- the surface with the bolt holes. I would call it 3/4 of an inch. Maybe just a hair under 3/4". It is hard to measure since I do not have a fixed point and you kind of have to eyeball it.

  • Do I Have to Adjust the TruRyde Electric Trailer Brakes?
You won't want to adjust the TruRyde Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - item # TRU96FR. You can but the concern is if you go to far on an adjustment it is extremely difficult to back it off. You will want to make sure you have adequately broken in your brakes. I have linked a help article below to walk you through it but have also written a condensed version below. You will basically want to hook your trailer up and drive it somewhere like an open parking lot. Once you get...

  • Determining The Correct Replacement Brake Assembly For A Brindle Products Trailer
Since there isn't a way for us to look up what you have you'll need to remove the wheel and possibly the hub/drum to get to the brake assembly. There will typically be some sort of sticker on the inside or on the back of the plate that can give you a better idea of what you have. If there is no sticker then you'll need to determine if you have electric or hydraulic drum brakes. If there's a rotor and caliper then you'd have disc brakes. If you have a wire running to the brake assembly instead...

  • Replacement Bearing Kit and Brake Assemblies for 2015 Jayco Fifth Wheel 27.5RLTS
Since we know your 2015 Jayco HT 27.5RLTS has 5,200 lb axles the correct bearing kit would be the # BK3-310 which comes with the correct bearings, races, seal and tang washer. To pick out replacement shoes I would need to know what brand assemblies your trailer has but otherwise you could just replace the assemblies with the # TRU96FR and you'd get all new assemblies that are self adjusting.

  • Replacement Brakes for Grand Design 5th Wheel With 6,000 Pound Axles
The Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-458-459 you have now is designed for 6,000 lb axles and fits 12" x 2" drums. In addition to the Dexter we have the etrailer # AKEBRK-7-SA or the TruRyde # TRU96FR. All three of these are self-adjusting brake assemblies. If you're looking to save some money I would go with the etrailer brakes. If that is not a concern, I would stick with the Dexter brakes. If you need replacement mounting hardware as well you can use the # BRKH12.

  • Replacement 12" Brakes for Fayette Dayton 9254 W-5 Axle
To replace your 12" brakes I recommend checking out the 7K TruRyde Electric Trailer Brake Kit # TRU96FR or the 5.2K - 7K Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit # AKUBRK-7 depending on what kind of braking system you have. You'll also need the Mounting Hardware Kit # BRKH12 to complete your installation. • Can I Upgrade 3,500 lb Axles to 5,200 lb Axles
You can definitely swap out your 3,500 lb axles for 5,200 lb axles but there are a number of other things that need to be changed out as well. Your leaf springs can technically stay the same but if you're overloading the axles then you're definitely overloading the leaf springs as well so you need to upgrade there, and even then your trailer frame is rated for a specific weight rating so you can be within your 10,400 lb axle and spring rating but you could be overloading your trailer. • Replacement Axle Recommendation for a 2022 R-Pod RP-153
I'm surprised they put a 3,500 lb axle on your 2022 R-Pod RP-153 so I definitely share your concerns about the safety of the whole thing. Generally they count the tongue weight as taking on some of the total weight of the trailer, and while this is true, you definitely have to have an axle that's closer to handling your GVWR of 4,730 lbs (when you add the unloaded weight and cargo capacity together). Torsion axles installed at the factory won't have a lift so to add a 2" lift to your R-Pod...
