Driver's-side and passenger's-side hydraulic drum brakes feature a single-plunger design. Automotive-grade friction pads and e-coated backing plates are long-lasting. Fit 14", 14", and 15" wheels.

Features:

  • Hydraulic drum brake assemblies are designed for use with a surge-type trailer brake actuator
  • Automotive-grade friction material is molded to brake shoes
    • Pads are fully bonded - not riveted - to shoes for long life and more braking torque
    • Less chance of cracking and crumbling that can lead to mechanical lockup, thanks to tapered edge and circular grinding
  • Periodic manual adjustment required
    • Fine-tooth brake adjustment gears allow for a more precise setting
  • E-coated backing plates resist wear and corrosion
  • Single plunger design
  • Adjuster plugs (included) cover access holes to keep dirt and grime out of the assemblies and off of the shoes
  • Left-hand (driver's-side) brake assembly, right-hand (passenger's-side) brake assembly, and mounting bolts included
    • Nuts and lock washers (BRKH10B) sold separately
  • QAI and CSA certified

Specs:

  • Application: most standard hub-and-drum assemblies, including Dexter, Lippert (LCI), and AL-KO
  • Dimensions: 10" diameter x 2-1/4" wide
  • Mounting flange bolt pattern: 4 bolt
  • Wheel size: 14" and 15"
  • Axle rating: 3,500 lbs
  • Limited 1-year warranty

These trailer brake assemblies act as part of your trailer's hydraulic braking system. A hydraulic trailer brake actuator is required for these brakes to function.

Thoroughly Tested for Safety

These brake assemblies meet the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. These brake assemblies underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. These brakes have also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

Automotive-Grade Friction Material

Each shoe on these brake assemblies is lined with automotive-grade friction material for improved stopping performance and longevity. The friction material is fully bonded onto the surface of the brake shoe. This lining is custom-molded for a perfect fit. The edges are tapered to ensure long-lasting performance. This taper, along with the circular grinding that the lining undergoes, helps to prevent cracking and crumbling. This durability helps to prevent mechanical lockup, which can occur when brake shoes are excessively worn or broken.

The friction material is also SAE-N certified, which means that it is an environmentally safe product that complies with California and Washington regulations regarding the composition of brake pads. As a result, this material not only provides high-performance braking that can endure the test of time, but it is also environmentally friendly and safe for use throughout the United States and Canada.

Installed in minutes on my 35 year old boat trailer . Better fit than OEM. Excellent price.

This went into a 30 year old boat trailer. Lost a grease seal and coated the brakes. I wanted to replace everything. I wish I would of bought the hardware with brakes. Would of saved me a 60 mile round trip. Everything went together easy.

Working out great

by:

Works great

by:

The mounting studs are extremely short that they can't even mount with the lock washers. It would be nice if you guys could put some longer studs in it.

by:

The parts were the correct brake kit that I needed and was nice to just have to put them on and not rebuild the backing brake plate. I think it is the only way to go when fixing your trailer brakes and I would recommended them to any one. It would have been way more expensive to fix it any other way.

by:

These brake assemblies came to Me looking great, They fit great, work Great, and best of all was the Great Price and the free shipping! 5 STAR's for this Product. Also I want to give a 5 STAR Rating for Your Customer Support, The Fast Shipping Notifications, and the After the Sale Follow up. Keep up the Great Work.

Okay, but if you look at what I ordered, it was both sides. One came but the other hasn't yet. Weren't both the left and right shipped together as a pair as ordered?

by:

by:

fast service

Very pleased with the parts and Angela Thank you

by:

This product made a huge difference on my boat trailer. The pressed studs are good and "bad" on my opinion. The set I replaced had a standard nut and bolt to attached the assembly. The studs are great, but forced me to use a wrench instead of impact to tighten the nuts on because there isnt enough clearance on my application for a socket. Installed fairly easy and there is a noticable difference in stopping ability. To be fair, the set a relaxed had no braking material and was simply metal to metal. I would def purchase again if needed. Great customer service as well. I got an email to let me know the product shipped, and something I havent experienced before, I also received an email from someone to let me know the parts were delivered!

Wow, Fast shipping. We're scheduled for delivery on July 11, I received them on Thursday afternoon July 7.
Excellent quality of components and priced fairly. Easy and accurate replacement of my old shoes.....I'm SO GLAD I went this route with etrailer!

As far as I can tell, they look to be correct. The order process was seamless and shipping was extremely fast. I will be delivering these to my customer as soon as some other items arrive, that were ordered through our normal network. You guys have a great setup and I certainly appreciate your service. This kit was easy to install and works great, fit perfectly. The times I have ordered from etrailer have always been a good experience!

I am super happy with my replacement of the electric brakes on my camping trailer with this Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator and Hydraulic Brakes. It works SO much better than electric brakes ever did. I feel much safer towing the trailer now.

by:

Very grateful these were available, as I couldn’t locate locally. The only problem was the backing plate hardware didn’t match my Eagle boat trailer, ( my original backing plates had captivated nuts ) but very glad to have trailer brakes again

Thank you, Ray Wolfbrandt

  • Replacement Surge Brake Assemblies that Fit Shorelandr Boat Trailer lub40tcbxlw
The hub your Shorelandr boat trailer has is part number 4470400 which is a 3,500 lb axle hub. So for a replacement surge brake assembly you'd want the part # AKUBRK-35 for a set of left and right hand assemblies.

  • Replacement Hubs and Brakes for UFP HD-1877-10
I reached out to Dexter and found that the UFP-HD-1877-10 fits a standard 3,500 lb axle. For a hub and drum replacement you can use the # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K or for a galvanized option # AKHD-545-35-G-EZ-K. Then for hydraulic drum brakes you can use the # AKUBRK-35 or # AKFBBRK-35-D with a Dacromet coating. I have attached some installation videos below for your reference.

  • Replacement Hydraulic Brake Assemblies for Dexter 3500 lb Capacity Axle
I've checked the 154755414 s/n you provided with Dexter, who tells me you have a standard 3500 lb axle. A 3500 lb axle would use a 10 inch brake assembly like the # AKUBRK-35 hydraulic brake assemblies you mentioned. If this is for use on a boat or snowmobile trailer, I'd recommend the # AKUBRK-35-D due to the improved corrosion resistance provided by its Dacromet coating, stainless steel springs and aluminum wheel cylinder housings.

  • How to Tell if 3,500 lb Hydraulic Drum Brakes Have Free Backing Feature
Hey Dustin, thanks for reaching out! The only surefire way to know if your brakes are free backing or not is to hook your trailer up to your vehicle and back up. If your trailer tires lock up then you have standard hydraulic brakes and need the kit # AKUBRK-35, but if the trailer tires back up without locking up then you have free backing and need the kit # AKFBBRK-35.

  • How To Find Which Hydraulic Brakes Fit 1997 Jayco Eagle 12 UD ST Pop-Up Camper
I'd be happy to help you find out which hydraulic brakes are going to work on your 1997 Jayco Eagle 12 UD ST pop-up, but there isn't a database for me to find any of this information so you're going to need to do a little work here. The easiest way is look for an axle tag on the center of the axle beam, but with the age of your trailer it may not be there. If it's not there then look for a part number stamped on the front of the hub, I can use that to figure out which size brakes you use. If...
