Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Buyers Products zinc plated spring latch. Now, this spring latch will keep your trailer tailgates, your ramps and other doors closed. Basically, the way it operated is this spring-loaded. You can see here, has a little pin right in here.

And what you'll do is just pull this spring-loaded latch until it clears the keeper. And then it hooks onto that hold down right there. That holdback right in there will hold that pin in place. And if you notice it keeps the pin open, so it allows you to open your door, tailgate, whatever. And then when you go to close it, if you just turn it, pull it a little bit and turn it, that'll release it from the holdback.

And you can see the spring will push that pin into the keeper, wherever it's inserting in to lock your door in place. And you can see the handle can be rotated. The holdback right in here, this will let you secure the latch in the open position. If you notice the pin on this is a cone style pin, so it allows the latch to secure even when it's not perfectly aligned with the keeper. The angled edges of the cone will function as a guide to help ease that pin into the keeper.

You can see the mounting plate. It's a four-hole mounting plate for a nice secure bolt-on installation. Now, the hardware to install this is not included. This part is zinc plated steel. Provides corrosion resistance.

Wanna go over a few dimensions on this. We'll start with the bracket itself, the mounting bracket. So, if we measure the length on it, from one end to the other is right at three inches. The width or height of it is 1 3/4 inches. The handle itself is gonna measure right at 3 3/4 inches long. The mounting hole spacing back here, if we measure horizontally center to center on the mounting holes, it's 1 1/2 inches. If we go vertically center to center, it's 1 1/4 inches. And the mounting holes are quarter of an inch in diameter. And again, just to demonstrate on the handle, and again, you can have it, you need to turn it, the pin right here. Can't pull it this way cause it won't go into the holdback, so you just rotate it. Pull it till it's past the holdback. And then you can either way down or up, you can put that pin in there and it'll hold it open. And then to release it, just again pull on this to release it and it comes all the way back that way.
