Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a quick look at the single axle trailer fender with backing plate. So this is a really great way to protect any drivers on the road from any kind of debris getting kicked up or slung up underneath your tires and causing any issues with them, but also it's going to protect any gear that you're hauling. With the backing plate included in this, it makes it really nice for open trailers as well, to make sure that no gunk or rocks or debris or anything is going to come up and damage whatever you're hauling, whether that be any kind of equipment, vehicles or anything else. So it's going to be a really nice addition to your trailer to make sure that everything is protected and that no rain or mud or water is getting slung up and slung around, and also to keep everything else in place on your trailer as well.This is made out of a 16 gauge, cold rolled steel. So it's going to be nice and durable. You can weld this in place or you can bolt it on, it doesn't have any pre drilled holes for bolting, but since it does have just a raw finish, you can weld it in place.
That being said though, once you get this in place, you'll probably want to prime and paint it to match with the rest of your trailer to make sure that it's protected from any kind of rust or corrosion. You can see that backing plate, it is welded in place. So it's going to stay attached to the fender itself, got kind of a ribbed design to the top of the fender. So it's going to have a nice structural stability. As far as the overall length, it's about 32 inches long from outer edge to outer edge, and then 15 inches tall from the base to the top or the apex.
And then it's about nine inches wide from front to back.It does have a one inch curved radius at the lip here. So it's a one inch radius for that. So it gives it a nice finished look. This does just come as a single fender, so you'll need one for either side. It weighs about nine pounds, it's made in the USA, and its covered by a one-year limited warranty.

Bolt or weld onto your trailer.Backing plate is thinner gauge than the fender and only spot welded in 5 places. On one of the fenders one spot weld was already broken. Not a deal breaker as I kind of expected this. Just know that steps will have to be taken to reinforce the attachment of the backing plate to the fender, I will use rivets. Shipping was VERY fast and customer service is top notch. I will patronize etrailer in the future.
Very disappointed in the attachment of backing plates. Two fenders should be mirror image of each other. Apparently an alignment jig is not used in production. This makes for difficult and different mounting from each side.

My dolly came with plastic fenders. A friend helped me maneuver the dolly and pushed on the plastic fender and broke it in two places. A tire blow out demolished the other fender. I purchased two of these fenders. They are made of a heavy steel and I am sure they will not need a replacement in the foreseeable future. Thank you for a prompt delivery.

We made several local trips less than 100 miles each and things were just fine. We then went to the finger lakes in NY State and hit some very bumpy roads on Route 81 in PA & NY. The fenders vibrated so much that the spot welds completely dislodged the fenders from the trailer and were only held in place by the wires for the lights. I stopped by a local hardware store, bought some channel and a hack saw and bolted on vertical and horizonal braces to both fenders. This made the rigidity needed and repainted the fenders. I have logged another 10,000 miles with no problems. You should recommend enforcement vertically and horizontally.
I recently ordered a new set of fenders and mounting brackets for my boat trailer. The fenders are very sturdy and the brackets are 1/4 in steel and quite rugged. This equipment is much stronger than original. I wasn't quite sure of sizes to order, but Cody O. was helpful and patient and walked me through the entire order. I am a happy camper.
The fenders were a perfect addition for my UTV trailer. Great quality and easy to mount. The ribs look great too.
I bought two of these fenders to replace the fenders on my boat trailer that had rotted away. These fenders fit better than the original fenders that came with the boat. I bolted these fenders on after priming and painting them to match the trailer frame. I shopped around and etrailer had a great price compared to other vendors who were selling the exact same item. I have bought many items over the years from etrailer and have always been pleased with their products and quality.

THE FENDER IS AN EXCELLENT CHOICE FOR A REPLACEMENT. I UPGRADE JET SKI TRAILERS FROM 12" WHEELS TO 15" WHEELS AND THESE WORK PERFECTLY.
I used these steel fenders to replace aluminum fenders on my utility trailer after one had fallen off along the road somewhere. Prior to installing these I painted them with Krylon Fusion gloss hammered metal spray paint, which has held up well.
Welds on the backing onto the fender were poor and delivered broken. I will have to reweld these myself.

I order these fenders for a car tow dolly. The fender was well constructed and looks like its going to be real durable.
I only wish that they had some kind of mounting hardware that i could have order to add to the fender for the taillights

The details of my fenders were exact and it made my installation easy. We painted them and they look great. After 1 year they still look new. Very pleased with how they turned out.
They do their job well, but the welded back side had a poor weld and separated during handling.
Received fenders yesterday and opened box the fenders looked excellent. Fast Shipping. I will take the fenders to welding shop on Monday to be fixed to the trailer. Glad that the back of fender is pre-welded.
Other than fenders being out of stock at the time, (which didn't matter as I could not put the fenders at the time I ordered them), I received the fenders in great shape. I welded the fenders on to the trailer and have towed the trailer approximately 4500 miles with no trouble. The fenders are very sturdy and well made. etrailer will get my business again. The sales people were very helpful and kept me informed as to when the fenders would be delivered. I would like to send a picture, but as of now I am in Florida until April and the trailer is in Missouri. Thanks a lot.
These are good fenders. Unfortunately the snow came off the roof twice and took one fender off each time.Not the fault of the fender. But being steel I was able to beat the fender back into shape with a block of wood and re-attach it.
The fender did survive a thousand pounds of ice crushing it fairly well all things considered and it's still useable.

Arrived on delivery date when opened found 1 fender with the tac welds bad other than that they look good
So far so good. Fenders seem to be of good quality and put together well. Shipping was extremely fast. Painted them with a truck bed coating for extra protection and bolting on vs welding to allow for easy touch up as necessary. So far a satisfied customer. Hopefully they hold up well.
The product appears to be well made, unfortunately there are sharp edges that need to be de-burred, not a big issue. The cost was reasonable and I loved the free shipping.

I used these fenders on a tow dolly. I had to reinforce the backing plate to fender welds. Otherwise, fenders worked very well. I wouldnt attach the unit using the backing plate without strengthening.
