Hey, everybody. How's it going Today, we're gonna be going over the line of Rapid Hitch Aluminum Adjustable Ball Mount. So for starters, the Rapid Hitch is gonna come in a few different configuration. The first one is gonna be in regards to the hitch ball size. So we can either purchase this ball mount with a 1 7/8-inch and a two-inch hitch ball combo, or you can purchase it with a two-inch and a 2 5/16-inch hitch ball combo. So it's gonna be a great option for your smaller to medium trailers or the medium to larger trailers.
So another configuration we have for the Rapid Hitch, it comes with both the standard steel hitch balls or the steel hitch balls with a greaseless ball cap, which essentially just aids with wear and tear when we're hooking up and uncoupling our trailer. So the Rapid Hitch is gonna be an adjustable ball mount. And the reason that's an important feature is an adjustable ball mount is great because we're not necessarily just picking a ball mount for one particular trailer and vehicle combo. The adjustability is gonna allow us to tow a number of different trailers with a number of different tow vehicles. So it's really the best thing to have if we find ourselves to be frequently towing multiple trailers.
So in regards to the rise/drop configurations, we're gonna have quite a wide range here. So these particular ball mounts are available in a rise up to 11 inches and a drop down to 10 inches. So pretty much no matter what trailer or truck combination we have, we're gonna have a ball mount to suit our needs. I would, however, like to point out that you don't necessarily wanna go with the lowest-rated drop option because that can sometimes further limit your ground clearance. So you want something that's gonna allow you to accomodate a different range of trailers, but it's not too low to the ground that it's gonna cause any issues.
So in order to find the correct rise and drop for our particular setup, it's super easy, for the vehicle side, we're simply gonna measure from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube opening. And then on the trailer, we're gonna measure from the ground to the bottom lift on our trailer coupler while the trailer is leveled. Now, if the truck side is higher than the trailer side, then that means we're gonna be looking for a drop, whereas opposed to if the trailer side is higher than the vehicle side, we're gonna be looking for a rise. And the great thing about this ball mount is, we mentioned it a little bit earlier, you can actually flip this around and use it in a rise position as well as a drop position we have shown. So in regards to weight capacity, it's gonna depend on what hitch ball configuration you choose.
So we mentioned there being two different options. The 2 5/16-inch hitch ball is gonna tow up to 10,000 pounds. The two-inch hitch ball is gonna tow up to 8,000 pounds. And then the 1 7/8-inch hitch ball is gonna tow up to 7,500 pounds. So one thing I would like to point out in regards to what actually comes with our ball mount, we are gonna get the adjustment pin here, which secures the ball platform to the shank. It doesn't actually come with the hitch pin. However, this actually gives you a great option to purchase a matching locking pin set. It comes with a locking hitch pin for the hitch, and it comes with a locking hitch pin for the adjustment portion. Therefore, you can get one key that works both of our locks here. And that is sold separately, but we do carry it here at etrailer. So there's no shortage of adjustable ball mounts on the market. There are certainly plenty to choose from. But there's a couple reasons I really like the Rapid Hitch. Number one, it's aluminum, therefore it's pretty lightweight and easy to work with. It's definitely a lot more manageable if you're finding yourselves to be constantly installing and removing it as opposed to a steel ball mount that's a little bit bulkier, definitely heavier, and more cumbersome to deal with. The other thing I really like about the Rapid Hitch here is that it's one of the no-frills ball mount, meaning we're not paying for all those extra features like included locks. Or some of them that actually have a built-in scale can definitely cause issues over time. And then another thing that I really like that's specific to the Rapid Hitch is that not only does it come with the standard 2 5/16-inch and two-inch hitch ball, there's also another option for the smaller 1 7/8-inch diameter and two-inch diameter hitch balls. So not a lot of other ball mounts in regards to the adjustable ball mounts give you that smaller hitch ball combo, so it's definitely nice to have if we have some smaller trailers. So we talked about the ball mounts being offered in a range of adjustment. So if you're curious to know what those actual adjustments are, we can easily adjust the ball mount platform in one-inch increments by simply removing the pin, moving it up to the next slot, lining everything up, and then reinserting the pin. It's just that easy. So not only is it super easy to adjust the rise and drop, it's also super easy to switch hitch ball sizes. You have a couple different options for this, but the easiest way is to simply remove that clip, pull the pin out, lift straight up, flip it over, line up our adjustment holes, reinsert our pin and clip. And then what we can also do is we can remove the pin and clip again, take off the ball platform, and there's actually a pin inside here that's holding the hitch ball to the ball platform. We'll simply tap it on the side here to free that pin, and then we can actually remove the hitch ball and turn it around the other way. We'll simply line up our pin again, and now we're ready to reinstall. So if we pull our ball mount out, on the actual shank here, you're gonna see we actually have two different hitch pin holes, and this is nice 'cause it's gonna help accomodate many different trailer hitches. So, ideally, we wanna use the one that's closest to the ball platform, but not all truck's receiver tubes are gonna allow for that, so we can just use the one that's a little bit further back. That's gonna be much more accommodating. That's actually the one we had to use for this particular truck here. So last but not least, our ball mount here is gonna be completely made in the USA, so you know you're getting a quality product. And now that we're all hooked up, we're ready to hit the road. And that's gonna do it today for our look at the line of Rapid Hitch Aluminum Adjustable Ball Mount..

This is the third Anderson Rapid Hitch I have owned and they are always the best option in my opinion. They not only look awesome......but they are one of the strongest drop hitches on the market!

I have owned for a year now and no complaints thus far. I do a lot of trailering with several different trailers and it has been a great hitch. Tow vehicle is a 02 2500 Silverado Duramax with 4 1/2 suspension lift. Durable and adjusts easy. Quality hitch.
Really like the hitch. It's very quite with the trailer. I had a chrome plated ball and it squeaked a bunch as the trailer moved. This is much quieter. The drop is just what I needed too.
exactly what I was expecting, great looking product. Had to find the locking stainless pins that Anderson offers at a different site but other than that all is good. shipping was quick and I was kept inform along the way, great customer service! Love this hitch! I have used it for our pop-up camper, our small cargo trailer, the high schools' marching band trailer and another friend's cargo trailer. Being able to switch the drop and ball quickly has made it so I don't have to remember to grab the correct hitch for the job. This one does everything I need.

Could be built more sturdy,, clangs around a bit, however of the times used to tow a 4000lb camper no issues, this rating is based a limited use. looks pretty and does the job. Ok value for what it is and does not rust over a year now. Looks as good as new a year later. Location Virginia Beach.

I purchased this to replace a Fastway Flash E Series Ball mount that I purchased and returned from another online seller that did not provide enough clearance from my rear bumper in the rise position. My vehicle really needed the extra 5/8ths of an inch of length on the shank of the Rapid Hitch. Clearance was not a problem in the drop position; but with a receiver that's 18-inches off the ground, I need to use the rise position more frequently than many. The other thing I noticed is that this ball mount is feels more substantial than the one from Fastway. In use, I prefer this to the Andersen EZ hitch I had been borrowing. It looks really cool. It has 5 adjustment positions rather than four and bit more adjustability in either direction. Plus, it still fits in easily in the storage area underneath the floor of my SUV. And did I say it looks really cool. I hated to put grease on the ball before I went to hook up the trailer. Also, I plan to get the lock set. It's looks great on my SUV and seems likely to disappear overnight and look great on someone else's vehicle.

I thought it would be a better hitch for the money. It does not fit tight in the hitch receiver so it is a bit sloppy. The height adjustment and having a 2” and 2 5/16” ball is nice and convenient.

The retaining pin would not fit in the hole to secure the ball mount assembly. I have ordered the locking pins to replace the unit supplied. If it doesn't work I'm returning. So far very poor workmanship

Haven't pulled anything with it yet, but overall it appears to be a quality product. There is over .0500 play in the hitch when mounted in the receiver. That will probably make a lot of noise. The adjustment part of the hitch seems pretty good.

Best adjustable height hitch out there. Like the double ball as it takes only a minute to pull a pin and flip the ball assembly upside down to change sizes. Also like the availability of all the parts if I need a replacement or to purchase a separate single ball in a larger size. Best of all, it's Made In the USA! No junky import stuff. Bought the locking pins so a thief is not going to walk off with anything. Nice hitch.

Works flawlessly. I was very excited the day I got home and my Rapid hitch was on the front porch. It came in nice box and was packaged very well. I opened it up and unpacked my rapid hitch and I was very impressed with the quality and precision of this hitch. All of the machining was PERFECT and everything fit together right. I put it in my truck right away. Going down the road with the trailer on and off there is absolutely no rattles, clunks, or jolts. I also love how everything is aluminum or stainless steel, NO RUST. I wish I could've gotten the greaseless model but my boat is too heavy. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with locking pins. With a hitch this expensive I really wish it came with them. Do yourself a favor and order them with your rapid hitch so you don't have to pay for shipping in the future. Other than that great product and I believe it will outlast me.

Hello The hitch works great as viewed in the enclosed pictures. If inverted it hits the bumper, of my Dodge 2500. The section that goes into the receiver is about 1/2" too short and hits the bumper. I have not tried it on my other vehicle to see if this is a problem. Kind Regards Leon D

This is a really nice hitch if you tow a variety of trailers or need to get your ball up high as I need to do on my 1999 F450. I needed the ball up high to level my Jeep tow bar, so this is just the ticket for me. This hitch is made in the USA, which is great too. eTrailer.com service is excellent and their communication perfect. They obviously care about their customers and the product. Only 2 things prevent a 5 star rating for this very pricey hitch. IMO, for the money, the manufacturer should also include: 1. a lock pin for the adjustable hitch ball. 2: an anti-rattle attachment.

I ordered my AM3405 and was amazed how quickly the etrailer team responded with not only my order confirmation but the fantastic follow up when it was shipped and delivered. I highly recommend etrailer and will order from them again. The product showed up in great shape and I am very happy with the quality. One recommendation would be to order two of the locking pins. One for the receiver and one to lock the ball mount to the unit. You will see by my picture I resolved that issue with a pad lock but the locking pin would have been better.

I really like this hitch. Very good quality. Only short fall is that it should include the locks due you can't buy them in any store due to the length is longer than the normal pin lock. I recommend that should be sold as a combo. picture has the locks required
