Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the B & W heavy duty ball mount. If you're looking for a nice, durable, strong ball mount for your 2-1/2" hitch, this is really something to consider. It fits into your 2-1/2" by 2-1/2" trailer hitch opening, and it lets you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle.The shank slides into the receiver hitch on the vehicle. The ball platform provides a mounting point for a hitch ball. Hitch balls are sold separately. The ball hole diameter measures 1-1/4", so make sure that the shank on your hitch ball doesn't exceed that measurement.
The shank is the threaded portion of the hitch ball.This mount features a nice heavy duty design, that has a gross towing weight capacity of 16,000 pounds and a maximum tongue weight capacity of 1,600 pounds. You can use this in both the drop and rise positions. That's a really nice design of the unit. Both positions are available to ensure level towing. It's made from a sturdy steel construction, with a hollow shank design, and it features a corrosion resistant black pattern-coated finish, which is designed to really help it resist rust and corrosion.When you're securing this inside your hitch, it does require a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock.
Those items are sold separately and can be found at etrailer.com. The pin hole diameter is 5/8", so it will accept standard 5/8" diameter pins. I also took a measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch ball hole and got a measurement of 9-5/8". If you're using this in the rise position, you want to make sure you have enough clearance to get this into the hitch without interfering with anything at the back of the vehicle. From the center of that hitch pin hole to the closest point of this support right here, that measurement is 3-3/8".When you're using it in the rise position, your rise measurement is taken from the inside top edge of the receiver to above your hitch to the top of the ball platform.
This provides us with a 3" rise, and it provides us with a 4" drop. The ball platform width, that's this portion here, that measures 3" wide. That thickness is 1" thick. Although I had to exit about a month to receive this order, it was out eTrailers responsibility due to manufacturer back order. Once they got it, they wasted no time shipping it out. As far as the hitch goes, it fits perfectly in my 2 1/2” receiver. Pretty stout construction and more up to the task for towing my 4,300 lb boat and trailer. Customer service from eTrailer as always, the best.

Good - except intended on using the ball mount with a Rock Tamer mudflap system. However the hitch pin location is to far foward ont eh ball mount to allow placement of the Rock Tamer mount between ball mount and truck receiver. Need the hole to be back another 5/8" to 3/4" back. Vehicle to be used on is a Chevy K3500HD - 1 ton pick-up

I trailer cars all around the lower Michigan. I cannot have a failure of the tongue or the ball this a heavy duty product that will last.
