Amazingly well built. It took me 8 years to find anyone who carried 1 1/4" hitches. Looks great on my Ford Explorer and I can now leave it there. Before I had an adapter for my 2" hitch, which could be left installed for safety reason. My only concern with this is that it was hanging halfway out of the box when received. The insert portion had broken through a corner, The paper in the box was only to keep the hitch from sliding around within. Didn't work.

Comments
Outstandingly! The best part has been the ability to leave it attached.

Received the Class II Drawbar 5-1/2" Rise or 6" Drop - BM96 in a timely manner. The rise was what I was looking for to use with my Polaris ATV 570 since its standard receiver is 1-1\4 hitch and sits low to the ground. This was just the right height to pull my john boat behind the ATV.

A year later and the Class ll Drawbar 5-1/2 is still strong. Ive used it both fishing and hunting. Thanks for a great product.

I bought this product to replace one that didn't have enough rise. On small cars such as a Nissan Versa, the hitch assembly is lower to the ground which can cause your trailer to ride low in front and high in the back. Adding weight toward the tongue only compounds the problem. I had a 4 inch rise which was not sufficient. BM96 gives me an extra 1 1/2" of height. I haul a 26hp 54" cut Husqvarna on a 5' X 10' tilt back trailer from "Old Reliable" One other point to mention. If your trailer rides low in the front and is fitted with a tongue jack, it can be difficult to lower it because the jack wheel can hit the ground in such a way that the jack can't be extended without lifting the tongue. BM96 gives the the extra height I need and solved my problem. This item fit perfectly and required no modification. I would highly recommend this if you need extra height!!

by:

The draw bar is absolutely perfect! all other internet and local hitch installer contacts said no one makes a 1 1/4" draw bar with a 6" drop. first picture is my original draw bar with a 2.5" drop. the trailer was running quite high. number 2,3,4 are with your Brophy draw bar you can really see the trailer is level.I took a measurement that may come in handy in your files. my car is a 2012 ford escape with a factory trailer package . The measurement from the center of my receiver to the ground is 18"1/4" trailer tires are 5.30x12 This is my new car and I was surprised at the height. the Ford dealer was no help so possibly you can supply other 4 wheel drive escapes with draw bars.

I love the ball-mount. Now I can haul my boat out to the lake. The best part of everything is - I got my package days earlier then expected. The service I received was great. Overall I am very happy with my purchase

Product is great. Though we didn't have a lift to put on the trailer hitch, but after watching your video and few times it took maybe 2 hours and the next day maybe a half hour to add the wiring.

Expected my hitch to arrive in about 2 weeks. I got an email from etrailer saying they will upgrade shipping for free and received it in 2 days! Hitch is excactly what i am looking for. The paint was a little spotty on the hitch, but i could care less. It is a good solid hitch. I will turn to etrailer.com for all my towing needs.

etrailer is the only place I could find a 6" drop hitch for 1 1/4" receiver on my Polaris 570. I purchased a trailer on cl and needed a way to pull it evenly behind my four wheeler. I still had to mount the coupler on top of the tongue but that's no big deal. Service was great with immediate feedback once my order was placed and the delivery was fast. I would definitely do business with George again!

Bought this for my VW Jetta so I could haul my Kendon Dual motorcycle trailer because no hitch gave me enough rise. After installing a 2", 3/4 shank, 2 9/16 shank length ball secured and spaced with 6, 3/4 lock washers, I put it to the test. Loaded my Ferris 48" ZTR and away I went on the test run. Really impressed actually how little play there is in the 1 1/4 hitch. It's quite heavy solid no question.

Nice build quality. It was exactly what I needed to match up my small utility trailer to my Jeep Grand Cherokee factory hitch. No where else could I find a 1.25" ball mount with a 6" drop. Many thanks etrailer.com for stocking this item and getting it to me super fast. Your customer service was fantastic too.

Since my 1989 Corsica, 30 years old, 214,00 miles decided to quit pulling my 1500 pound camper in October, I bought a 24839 Hitch for my 2011 Kia Soul. After installation the class 1 receiver was only 9.5 inches off the ground. Then I found your site and the BM96 with 5.5 inches rise. Perfect! Solid metal, no hollow insert tube! And the camper will tow level! Also to find your Stainless Steel Ball, terrific! Your turn around time from order to receipt was quick! Another site wanted $18 for shipping. Your free shipping amazes me! So all in all, you won my attention and a bookmark. Finally, your using PayPal is great and after having my Credit card hacked three times, I only buy from companies that accept PayPal.

Great! After missing the campground entrance we ended up pulling the camper to the top of a mountain and then back down. 165 pounds ball weight and everything worked fine. Thanks again.

Extremely high quality hitch. I use the 6 inch drop option and tow a 6x12 enclosed trailer. Etrailer was very fast with shipping and I will definitely shop here again. I wish the shipping company took more care.

Product is as described. Seems to be a robust design. The welds look good and solid as is the entire unit. Fits on our '13 Honda Accord just fine. Plenty of clearance between the bumper and the Brophy drawbar. I have not pulled with it yet, but I have no reason to think it won't work just fine. eTrailer has excellent service. I saw a lot of comments about that in other reviews and it is true. I ordered this Tuesday about 2:00 and it showed up on my door step Thursday morning, even with the heavy Christmas shipping. (I did pay a little extra for "Ground" service.) I am quite satisfied and would buy from etrailer again.

by:

Dear George, I must apologize for not responding earlier. The hitch is just great and does exactly what I wanted it to do, as it leveled the trailer perfectly. One modification needed to be made to the rear bumper (cover). A vertical slot had to be cut to allow for the support portion that was welded to strengthen the hitch. The cutting of the bumper was not an issue I just mention it for use on my 2010 Corolla. Much thanks for a great product, Lloyd

Love the large product selection at etrailer. Bought a (stainless steel) 2" ball, and (5-1/2 inch rise) drawbar for my 1-1/4" hitch. That high rise drawbar is not commonly carried in stock. Both items were in stock at etrailer. Standard delivery was fast, and tracking number was provided. Both items work great on initial checkout. Quality of the products are good, and I don't expect any problems with them in the future.

Ask the Experts about this Brophy Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

  • How To Determine If Brophy Drawbar BM96 Will Clear Bumper In Rise Position
If using the Brophy Drawbar part # BM96 in the rise position you'd need to have no more than 3" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper. That is the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the start of the gusset. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the upright (excluding gusset) is 4-1/2".
