This is the first time I have purchased a hitch receiver shank or ball mount made of aluminum, I noticed that it is much lighter than my original steal one.
The item was delivered a day earlier of the scheduled date. Thanks for the quick service.

by:

Great hitch, light, strong and still looks like new after a years use.

by:

Overall the product looks good, fair pricing, average delivery. I am a little disappointed with how loosely it fits into my receiver. My truck is a brand new 2018 GMC Sierra. You can wiggle the hitch quite a bit, I hope this problem will not be too noisy. It can only get worse with time and wear, especially since it is Aluminum. I saw this complaint on some other reviews. The product needs to be made a little larger. You can always take material off easier than you can add material.

Robert, Thank you for your review. Some of the 2018 GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500s have a factory 2-1/2 inch. This brophy ball mount part # EA40 is designed for a 2 hitch. If you have a 2-1/2 hitch the closest ball mount we have to the rise, and length that is needed is part # 45123. This Reese ball mount has 3-1/2 inch rise, 5 inch and is 16- 1/2 inches long. It is rated at 13,000 lbs. If you are not sure what size factory hitch you have I have attached a link to help you measure. If it turns out you do have a 2 inch hitch, I would recommend an anti-rattle such as part BX88224. The blue ox immobilizer will tighten up the connection between the ball mount and hitch receiver to help quiet the rattle.

These two items are the best when using them in the Gulf Coast area. Salt water, and the air rust items of this kind very fast. Aluminum and Stainless Steel are a good combo in salty areas.

This is an outstanding hitch mount. I have purchase additional mounts for my other vehicles.

by:

I just received this receiver hitch today & have not used it. I have been using the same typ but in a 1" rise for a year or so & I like it's light weight but I needed a bit more rise. so this 3' rise model should work even better for me.

Still very pleased with this hitch. Some lengths of these heads are hard to find and this was exactly what I needed.

by:

I ordered the first time on the website, and after I didn't receive it for some time, I called and was told it is on back order. Had I known that 2 weeks earlier, would have helped. So reordered on the phone, and received it when promised. Unfortunately the shipper packed a steel ball in the same box with an aluminum hitch, and no padding around the ball. The hitch got pretty well beat up.

I ordered a Brophy Ball Mount after careful consideration to what I needed. A good description really helped a lot in that process. The ball mount arrived sooner then expected and suits my needs perfectly. The price was good and the service was good. A very good product, good price and good service. I have also bought other products from them and always been happy.

by:

It does what it is supposed to do, but the fit is sloppy. It has significantly more hitch rattle than other draw bars I own.

by:

Has kept its shine quite well. Recomend for a great looking hitch!

by:

This is a very nicely made product, but when I used it on my factory 2015 Chevrolet Silverado hitch, it rattled and I had to remove it and return.

by:

Excellent hitch, I like it because it doesn’t rust, hitch still looks new.

by:

Great product - FAST delivery - just what I needed to work in both front and rear hitch

by:

so far so good. One year later.

by:

Fit my 2018 Subaru Outback perfectly in either the drop or rise position.
I am impressed on how light weight it is.

This stinger fits perfectly with my boat trailer and pickup. Having a bad back, the reduced weight is very helpful when removing and installing my Rock Tamer mud flaps. Shawnee was a huge help in determining what would work best for my application!!!

  • Compatibility of the Brophy Ball Mount on a 2017 Toyota 4Runner
If your 2017 Toyota 4Runner has a 2 inch receiver opening in the trailer hitch, then you will be able to use the Brophy Ball Mount, # EA40. This ball mount has a 4 inch drop and a 3 inch rise and a gross towing weight rated at 8,000 lbs. You might want to read the attached article on how to choose the correct ball mount. The article will explain how to measure to see if you will need a ball mount with a rise or drop to connect to your trailer.

  • Can an 8 Inch Trailer Hitch Extension be Used to Tow a 1,700 Pound Camper
Curt hitch extender # C45791 has a 350 pound tongue weight capacity and 3,500 gross trailer weight capacity. But the use of a hitch extender reduces the tongue weight capacity of a trailer hitch by 50 percent. As long as the reduced tongue weight capacity is greater than the 200 pound tongue weight of your camper then it will work. Another option is to use a longer ball mount such as # EA40. This ball mount measures 14-5/8 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the...

  • Will Using a Hitch Extender and Ball Mount Decrease the Capacity of a Trailer Hitch
If the trailer hitch has a tongue weight capacity of 500 pounds and you use any kind of adapter or extender it reduces the tongue weight capacity by 50 percent so you would be down to 250 pounds. If you then add a ball mount in the extender it would drop it even more so you would likely be under 200 pounds tongue weight capacity. The use of extenders and then a ball mount would put a ton of leverage on the receiver causing damage to it and the vehicle. Using a longer ball mount such as...

  • Using a Hitch Extender to Keep Tailpipe Out of the Water when Launching a Boat
If your tow vehicle has a 2-1/2 inch hitch opening then Curt extension # C45048 is a great option to give you more length between the vehicle and trailer so you won't have to dunk your tail pipe in the water. If your vehicle does not have a 2-1/2 inch hitch receiver then this extension will not work. If you have a 2 inch hitch I recommend going with a longer ball mount instead of a hitch extender. On a 1-1/4 or 2 inch hitch a hitch extender will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the...

  • Are Ball Mounts Supposed to Sit Flush With the Hitch They Are Used On
Having a longer ball mount wouldn't be a problem at all. The biggest issue you may run into is banging your shins on it as it would stick out further than a shorter one. Ball mounts don't have to sit flush with the hitch they are installed into so you would be just fine. We even sell super long ball mounts like the part # EA40 which has a distance of 14-5/8 inches from the pin hole to the ball hole. I attached a help article on trailer towing that you may find informative.

The Curt # C45795 is a 12-inch hitch extender for 2-inch hitch receivers. You didn't say why you need the extender but if you're using it to tow a trailer an extra-long ball mount like # EA40 might be another option.

  • Will Brophy Ball Mount Fit a 2015 Ford F-250 with Factory Trailer Hitch
It is hit or miss on the factory Ford trailer hitches. Some of them have offset hitch pin holes for some reason. But I believe that has been resolved. If the hitch pin holes are lined up properly on the receiver on your 2015 Ford F-250 then you can use the Brophy # EA40. Otherwise, you would have to use a special Ford ball mount from a dealer.

  • Can Two Hitch Extenders Be Used to Create More Clearance
While I do have a potential solution for you, I do not recommend adding another extender adapter to your existing Tow Ready Hitch Extender # HE18. This is just going to create way too much instability and it could lead to damage because of the additional leverage it creates, even for short-term applications like what you need it for. While it's still going to create more leverage since it's extending the load out further from the bumper, a better option is to use your current extender...

First, the CURT Multi-Ball Adjustable Ball Mount, # D900, measures 15-3/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball. If you are needing 18 inches, this ball mount will come up just a little short. A fixed ball mount, like # EA40, is just a little longer at 14-5/8 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. That said, they do not offer a ball mount that is 16" long (center of hitch pin hole to center of ball hole) and offers a 12,000 lb weight capacity. The ball mount is 10-1/4 inches long from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of ball hole, approximately 2 inches longer than what most consider as a standard length. If you are looking for something that is very long, take a look at # EA40, which is 14-5/8 inches long from hitch pin hole center to ball hole center.
